They should have kept Sami and EJ together; DOOL is always better when they a couple :(

  • diana

@charmedcraft, ANY soap is better when there’s a couple to root for! As far as I’m concerned, DAYS has none. They dumped all the couples I loved in one fell swoop. Sami&Lucas, Jack&Jennifer, and Chad&Melanie. Now I don’t watch. GH, on the other hand, is going full steam ahead with Jason&Sam reuniting and getting their baby back. Blast-from-the-past Duke reunited with Anna this week. And it’s not even sweeps yet! Loving GH lately.

  • cc

GH had a great week. Great to see!

The Sami show is killing Days.

  • Brianna

GH ratings will be down next week after this week’s episodes – the Sam show doesn’t bring in ratings. Diana you only think you’re getting what you want with the Jasam reunion. The Sam baby story is not over just b/c she gets the baby back.

  • Nick

    Nice for GH.

  • Williams

The best soap has been, is and will be THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. We don’t need any promotion, or threats that we are gonna be cancelled or bringing back the old cast. We are what we are….because we are the best!

  • James

Wrong, wrong, wrong, Brianna. GH will be up next week. It wasn’t just Sam week silly billy, it was also DUKE LAVERY WEEK. Duke vs Luke…oh my, yes, yes. Also, Sonny wasn’t on this week. Awesome.

  • diana

@James, lol and ITA at NO SONNY makes GH better. @Brianna, I kinda agree when Steve Burton (Jason) is gone, GH is gonna take a hit. People are watching again because of Jasam, not Sam! Unless she can gain a ton of new fans through DWTS, Sam alone (or with McBain, who’s 1/2 of another supercouple, OLTL’s Jolie, so there go THOSE fans) is not gonna cut it. Hopefully RC and RV are taking all that into account by bringing in some other fan faves to replace Steve Burton (Tristan Rogers would be my pick, but he’s older. They need some eye candy. I know Sean Kanan is coming to play AJ, but they also need a “superstar”)

  • Mark

During the Duke/Luke fight this week, Laura (yes – as in Luke & Laura) was mentioned.

Since Genie Francis is done at Y&R – my guess is that she returns to GH in a old-style adventure tale – like the Ice Princess or Left-Handed Boy story and that will bring back some of the departed viewers – after Burton leaves.

  • Stacy

I watched Days and GH this week and GH was much better than Days. I also agree that GH will probably take a big hit when Steve Burton leaves. The Duke Lavery story has no interest to me in fact I can’t stand the actor that pays Duke. The actor that plays Duke was on Days last year and I couldn’t stand him. GH is also going to take a hit because once the baby story is done the only thing that GH has going on is the Duke Lavery story (no interst to me) and the Kate/Connie story (has been going on way to long).

  • tim

I watched Days of our lives all week, and found it great, better than its been in two months,Nicole trying to frame Jennifer for killing her baby, thats gonna be good, the return of Kristine & stepheno can’t hurt,John & marlena will get a story now i believe,Mrs.brady being sick is also great to watch….As for super couples i do like Sami & Rafe,Sunny & Will,Victor & Maggie,Bo & Hope,Adrine & Justin,Nicole & Brady,Jennifer & Daniel….They can play with a lot of this in the next couple of months….Maybe even bring back the Devil in Marlena…would be great…Just wanna say,i do not watch any other soaps,i been watching days of our lives for 37 years now.I would never put any other soap down,i see a lot of that on here,i just got one thing to say..Days fans better start watching soon or it will be gone, don’t cry after its cancelled….Tim….

  • LynTX

Just a note, SON will be making corrections to the “yr to yr” comparisons for all soaps.

Toups, I don’t think you compared these ratings to the right week last year.

_Hmm…I didn’t even notice that………It looks like this error was made weeks ago. Both the week of Sept 10-14 and Sept 17-21 both used the week of Sept 12-16,2011 as the year-to-year comparisons. I’ll look into it a bit more but it looks like I’ll have to redo the year-the-year comparisons for these past couple of weeks. Thanks for the heads up!

In women 18-34 I believe GH is in first place. Which really doesn’t count but worth mentioning.

  • donald

days of our lives is 100 percent better than general hospital gh sucks and hopefully gh will be cancelled it sucks boo boo days always has been good with better head writers and ken corday as the boss plus deidre hall as the linda blair of daytime is so much better than gag me to throw up gh take that gh and go to cancelled asap days will be on for another 47 years yes!

  • Sophie

So very HAPPY for GH, I’m LOVING IT. I can’t wait to watch the show. Days shouldn’t have gotten rid of MARDAR. And it’s all about Sami, Sami, Sami.
They write to far ahead, and can’t change it. I’d put Sami on Backburner for a while! YEA GH!!!!

It’s a week off, for now, because the season started a week later this year. Last year it started on Monday, Sept 19, and this year it started on Monday, Sept 24. The networks place significance on comparing week 1, week 2, week 3, etc of a season at the beginning, but later on in the season, the networks will start to compare the correct week. I don’t know when that week will be. That was the explanation I was given was. So I will not go back to compare “the correct week”. LOL

  • Jeff

Just looked back at last year’s oct 3-7 week, and GH is up almost 500k viewers and 90k in the 18-49. SON def made a mistake. Pretty awesome job!

  • Ashley

@donald Ken Corday? Seriously??? No one in the DOOL fandom likes him.

  • CharlieSheen

Very good job by GH as those ratings were really high that week and the way that show grows out of The Chew is amazing. GH is already ahead of the curve from where Frankie V. and Ron C. had OLTL in their rebuilding plans which took like 3-4 years to get settled in. GH is definitely looking more and more like a keeper through 2014.

Y&R and B&B with small declines had very good weeks for CBS. Obviously their performances are really helping The Talk.

DAYS was finally up this week but their having fundamental problems at the top as the Sami love life stuff is killing the show. Everything else is pretty good like the Nicole baby stuff and Nick & Gabi but man Sami wow is killing the show. Either way it goes I expect NBC to keep that one through 2014 too.

  • Ray-El

GH has been consistently watchable wild ride this entire year. I like Steve Burton, but I don’t think the show will be that hurt by him leaving. They can just groom Michael to be Sonny’s new enforcer. I watch the show for the ensemble… not just one character or actor. The majority of them have been great and I’m not going to give up on that based on one or two couples not being together. I couldn’t care less if there is a Sam-son, or NataBain, or a JaLiz, or whatever these ridiculous combo names are that people keep coming up with. As long as the overall canvas is watchable, I’m in. This week, I tuned in for Connie, Tracy, Johnny, Carly, Todd, Heather, Tea, Sam, Anna, Luke & Duke and they all delivered. Next week, that list may be completely different. If you watch an ensemble show for just one person or couple, then you’re setting yourself up for disappointment because the nature of the beast is that people come and go.
