10/18 Update: Animal Practice has been canceled.
Rookie sitcom Guys With Kids certain drew its share of predictions of doom from our commenters, but its first two weeks of ratings were at 80% and 89% of NBC's overall scripted average. Shows with those relative ratings would be renewed were the season to end today. It's third week rating was only 78% of NBC's scripted show average that week, right on the edge of the "toss up" range. Any more relative ratings declines and the show is more likely to be #bearchow than not.

Up All Night and Animal Practice are each certain to be canceled by the end of the season.

Where's the bear? He's not just in the NBC post this season, he's moving around!

  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ie. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I am so glad that Revolution looks to be safe so far. I really love that show. It’s the only new show so far that’s really done anything for me and is it’s completely original and new yet has a tone of lost. I love JJ abbrams writing and I am a supernatural fan so I’m glad to see Kripke take on another project and have it be such a good one. I’m also glad that parenthood is doing good. I hope Grimm can make it to all green smileys because Grimm is a really great show.

Noooooo! I love Up All Night, I really hope it doesn’t get cancelled as I’ve been a fan since day one. I will say though, they should try moving it back to Friday behind or before Whitney as that was a pretty good pair up. I am also, digging Guys with Kids and I actually came across that by mistake. I guess only time will tell but if Up All Night goes, at least I have Netflix, sigh!

I happy that Go On and Revolution are looking good to be renewed they were the shows I was most looking forward to premiering on NBC. With 30 rock and the office ending, animal practice canceled, and up all night most likely to be canceled I think this might help cement some of the sitcoms doing generally well on NBC which I think is a good thing.
