via press note:

With competition from the presidential debate and the ALCS, The CW had its most watched (1.5M) Tuesday night in almost a year last night (11/29/11).

The series premiere of Emily Owens, MD at 9pm was the most watched (1.7M) telecast in the time period in almost a year (11/15/11). With a broader audience for The CW, Emily Owens built on its Hart Of Dixie lead-in by 28% in total viewers.

Hart Of Dixie was up across the board from last week, +11% in viewers (1.3M) and up a tenth in adults 18-34 and 18-49, and up two tenths in women 18-34.

    You would think this was an ABC press release the way they are spinning such a negative into a positive. Pedowitz has been doing some serious PR lately which almost seems weird for the CW.

    Can someone explain what the CW dispute with Cablevision/Optimum is? I live on Long Island and have not been able to see the Vampire Diaries. The channel is showing NFL Network and OWN instead.

  • paul

    I was all for emily but when they showed the preview on tv her making fun of a disabled girl or something like that. I changed my mind now there could have been more to it during the show BUT that clip made me sick and I said no.

  • EatMorePez

    @paul

    She wasn’t making fun of a disabled girl. She was responding to school-aged girl (who was not disabled) who called her a loser.

    strange how they weren’t posting press releases last wednesday or thursday last week when they were actually getting decent ratings.

  • Jorge

    I personally think the low rating was due to the pilot being available for 3 weeks and the debate. maybe next week will be up. I really hope so, since I really liked the pilot last night.

    @alexjones

    They did

    TVBTN just didn’t make the post available on the main homepage.

    The CW did send out press releases last week about the premiere of Arrow..Supernatural on Wednesday as well as TVD and B&TB on Thursday.

    On Tuesday Oct. 18, 2011 (the Tuesday of this week, one year ago), both Ringer and 90210 scored .8s. It was Ringer’s 6th new episode–not its premier.

    Those Emily Owens numbers are not good. HOD is also not doing too well, but it at least will get a full season this year.

    @Paul, @EatmorePez:
    Was the girl even real or just a figment of her imagination? Either way, she was looking at her younger self.

  • Austin

    I think a lot of The CW shows will be up because of Arrow’s premiere and audience tbh. It’ll definitely boost the network. People say these are not good numbers, BUT this is The CW we are talking about.

    @styx
    WPIX station owner, Tribune, is in a carriage fee dispute with Cablevision. As a result, their networks are blacked out from Cablevision in multiple markets. The solution is to watch over-the-air or to watch via cwtv.com online.

    I started to not watch Emily because of posts saying it would be canceled, but I decided to watch and I’m glad I did. I liked it and will continue to watch as long as it is on

  • SmG

    Emily Owens built on viewers ? From 1.3 to 1.6 mil? :D

  • Bizarro

    @SmG
    I was suprised to see that too. I like M.D. but Hart is much better but I’m going to stick with the show for now. Hopefully Hart will go up a little for final ratings. Still last fall both 90210 and Ringer did better until January came along. To be honest hopefully M.D. will do a little better too because if it is passing with 0.5’s and 0.6’s hear and there. It will probably be cancelled because I don’t think the CW wants another Nikita (good viewers but low demo).

  • thesnowleopard

    Ahhh, there’s the CW blather I’ve come to know and hate.

  • Sophie

    I’m sorry, but I could only stomach 10 minutes. Promos of her in a screaming match with a kid on the playground bordered too much on bullying. Get a grip, not my cup of tea. Even Justin Hartley couldn’t sway me to finish this. Another medical knock-off. The CW is losing viewers faster than ever because of cancelling great shows and acting like Ringer. I didn’t see the chemistry between characters and this was a lame attempt to be an “Ally McBeal” as one reviewer put it.

  • michael in cmh

    Emily is awesome!

  • enes

    Ringer did better ratings !
