NBC’S ‘WHITNEY’ RETURNS FOR SECOND-SEASON PREMIERE ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14

Just curious, Did anyone think this show would get 10 episodes, let alone a full season?

    predictions?

    Whitney: 2.0
    Guys: 1.7

Replaced by Whitney. Ooooh. Insult to injury.

  • Oliver

    I’d guess 1.7/1.5.

Which would be a solid result for NBC, all things considered, but it’s obviously not going to stay at those levels through spring.

I do wonder whether they’re missing a trick by not putting them on Friday. Low 1s on Wednesday mean a short lifespan, low 1s on Friday mean renewal until the end of time.

But I guess papering over the giant ratings void that is 8pm Wednesday is their biggest priority in the short-term.

Good if only 8 episodes were filmed then all of Animal Practice will have aired by November 7.

My guess for Whitney is a 1.5-2.0 it wont do worse than Animal Practice but its a better fit with GWK than AP was.

    NBC’s new slogan…

    “We </3 Comedy Anymore"

    Or perhaps…

    "Don't Show Me the Monkey!"

  • Riff Rafferty

    Mr. Smith was better

And there aren’t very many things “Mr. Smith” can say that about!

Animal Planet should start up some spin-off channel devoted exclusively to monkeys. The Simian Network. I bet they can snag the repeats of “Animal Practice,” “Mr. Smith,” “BJ and the Bear,” “Lancelot Linc,” “Me and the Chimp” and “The Chimp Channel” real cheap.

So glad for Whitney! Such a great show.

  • Murray

Obviously people who like Whitney are insane. I mean, that’s not even a dispute.

  • Sam

Whoever approved the concept for Animal Practice should be fired and banned from ever working for any TV companu in any capacity. What a piece of crap.

  • Fake Me Out

… he said of signing to do the show, “It was a big mistake! I just sort of hung around because I have three daughters and a wife, and I figured out I might as well make some bread, every week, so I can take care of them in the way they want.” … “The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television.”

Quote from the lead in Animal Practice? The producers? directors? writers? The monkey? Nope, it’s Chevy Chase speaking about Community and his role on the show. So when even a star of a show is bad mouthing it, and in a round about way any fan who was stupid enough to watch “the lowest form of television” you have to ask why any one is actually watching Community … oh wait, I forgot the ratings, no one is watching … ’nuff said. Perhaps Whitney was the best choice after all.

    ymmv

There is nothing wrong with this show—it’s a decent show—with I’d say, the same “dry nonsense” humor of all the other NBC comedies. It should have been given a chance.

Animal Practice is a cute funny show. A lot better than I expected. So naturally it’s cancelled and will be replaced by the execrable Whitney? Don’t do it don’t even think about it why do you hate us?
