“FACE THE NATION” IS UP +21% IN HOUSEHOLDS, +23% IN VIEWERS AND +29% IN ADULTS 25-54 COMPARED TO LAST YEAR

SEASON-TO-DATE, “FACE THE NATION” IS FIRST IN VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54

CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER was the #1 public affairs show on Sunday, Oct. 14, placing first in viewers, households and adults 25-54. The CBS broadcast posted a 2.3/06 in households, 3.17m viewers and 0.9/04 in adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION posted its largest audience and best adults 25-54 ratings since February 19, 2012. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 47% of the CBS affiliates.

Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +21% in households (from 1.9/05), +23% in viewers (from 2.58m) and +29% in adults 25-54 (from 0.7/03).

Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in viewers (3.04m), adults 25-54 (0.8/03) and households (2.2/06, tied with NBC) among the Sunday morning public affairs shows. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is up +16% in households (2.2/06 from 1.9/05) and +14% in both viewers (3.04m from 2.66m) and adults 25-54 (0.8/03 from 0.7/03) compared to last year.

On the broadcast, Bob Schieffer interviewed Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) Schieffer also hosted a political roundtable with David Corn of Mother Jones magazine; Katrina Vanden Heuvel of The Nation; Bay Buchanan, a senior adviser to the Romney campaign; CBS News Analyst and Republican strategist Frank Luntz; and CBS News Political Director John Dickerson.

FACE THE NATION is broadcast on Sundays at 10:30 AM, ET (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network. Mary Hager is the Executive Producer. FACE THE NATION is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television. It premiered on CBS on Nov. 7, 1954. The program broadcasts from Washington, D.C., where Schieffer has spent more than 40 years covering government and politics. He has anchored FACE THE NATION since 1991. Guests include government leaders, politicians and global figures in the news.
