Why is Maria Bell still getting on screen credit as exec producer of y&r? I thought last Friday was the start of the new regime.

  • Robert

Love the 2 CBS soaps. Y&R is getting so much better.

  • TimsDale4ever

I hear you Jon as I keep waiting for her name to completely disappear from the credits. I read somewhere that Josh helped to re-write some of the final episodes under her so I assume her name will be gone very soon — surely by the end of the next week at least. I have already noticed though that the show seems to have picked up the pace somewhat — Phyllis’s trial was dismissed almost before it got started (and I was actually looking forward to some heated scenes with characters on the stand). Oh well…. Jack’s takeover of Newman was a little too instant but I’m glad it is as I’m TRIED OF THIS STORY THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE TO DEATH. Also, Sharon’s breakdown seemed to have come on pretty quickly also. I assume Phelps future input will only add more improvement. It really will be interesting to see what direction this show goes without a Bell family member at the helm. In nearly 40 years I don’t think that’s ever been the case.

  • Bart

For once, I am glad to see the ratings for “Y & R” go up knowing that Maria Arena Bell is no longer eviscerating this once-great show! Josh Griffith ended the Phyllis/hit-&-run storyline very quickly and I was satisfied with the outcome (Christine was NOT a Federal agent at the time as she stated – case was w/o merit and past the statute of limitations – MOVIN’ ON!!) because Josh went back and did his homework on the characters’ histories liek any good writer should. MAB is NOT a writer unless you put the word ‘hack’ in front of the word ‘writer’!!

The pacing and direction have also picked up in the last 5-6 shows as well – he’s hoping that the return of a truly gifted and Emmy-winning writer will bring this show continued higher ratings!!

  • Sophie

So HAPPY for GH, it’s so good right now! Todays show on GH has been the best I’ve seen in years. They just know how to balance it out. Good job GH!!!!

  • Jason

Certainly the strong ratings GH has had can be attributed to Robin Mattson. I’ve really enjoyed watching Heather and I hope Mattson goes on contract. Maybe a love interrest could be introduced, like Larryjoe, Jeff Webber or Joe Kelly. Yes some guys really liked Heather!
Thanks to the GH writers and all of the hard work. The ratings reflect it.

  • Kayla Rae

Days has been so very good and the ratings just don’t make any sense as they do not reflect that. It’s simply mystifying. I never miss an episode and the storylines have been so intriguing and the acting so beautiful. The actress portraying Nicole, for instance, is absolutely a talented powerhouse…so very much superior than anything I see on any of the other soaps.

  • Kayla Rae

I actually forced myself to watch the entire episode of GH today and, frankly, the only thing I liked about it occured at the very end when deadpan Jason was shot and lay bleeding to death on Pier 52. Good riddance! Now if only they could ditch cardboard cutout Kelly Monaco, Sonny, Carly, Duke Lavery, etc., etc.. Keep Heather though.

  • Sophie

I tried to watch BORING DAYS the other day couldn’t finish it cuz of the Sami hour. She is the worst. So glad tho John is back on the show. He had a month off. Wish they would backburn Sami, then the show might be good.

  • Pat

Glad to see both CBS shows healthy. It’s be interesting to see what people say if Y and R doesn’t continue to increase with MAB now not at the helm. I really can’t see the show go much higher, so we’ll see. Any dropoff and I’ll be the first to complain.

I see some positive things with the quick shift in some of the storylines. Haven’t been impressed with the small changes in production. Music cues, camera angles and all the action and movement on the sets is distracting for now. We’ll see.

  • Port Chuck

Is the year over year comparison for GH to OLTL or GH since they had a timeslot change?

  • fanny

I agree with Jill about DAYS. We will see some results in the next few weeks with the return of Kristen ( Eileen Davidson ) and exactly what is on her agenda ( nothing good, I suspect…LOL! ). At least for now, they are moving away from the Sami & Rafe coupling, AMEN to that! That should help.
No matter what, I’ll always be a DAYS fan!

I also love GH very much right now.

As for Y&R I’m starting to watch again, now that MAB is gone. She totally massacred the show. Shame on her!

B&B do not watch anymore: childish and superficial ( not worth the ratings they are getting! )

  • Shoynna

B&B is amazing right now, showcasing the legendary talents of Susan Flannery. B&B will be in a near renaissance period for the rest of 2012 and possibly beyond. Ridge dissing Brooke (on their honeymoon, no less) and FC (putting HIS inexperienced son in charge) for parts unknown is great for the show. And — the death of iconic soap character Stephanie Forrester is un-missable! Hard to get through B&B without tearing up, esp if you’re a long-time fan or a fan of amazing actress SF. Awesome stuff. Verdict still out on Y&R under the new regime. Days has flatlined. If these writers cannot write for the character of Kristen, Days is in big trouble.

  • Kelby

Y&R is terrible. There is not one story or character I am interested in. The only thing I will give that show credit for is finally updating their opening credits. It only took a few years. DOOL is pretty pitiful. I am interested in what they will do with Kristen. But please DOOL do not bring back the doppelganger Susan! They will I am sure. I have not loved DOOL since 1994. I do not even watch B&B but Susan Flannery is killing me. I watched a bit of that a few days ago. OMG! I was sobbing like she was my best friend. I know a lot about B&B, so I felt some what connected. My goodness. Torn me up. LOL I can only speak frankly of Y&R and DOOL….these two shows could have some great stories….they have a lot of great talent….but the writers do not invest in anything creative or believable half of the time like they use to….so I guess that means these shows will continue to go in the s……! Please new Y&R/DOOL writers give this show some integrity again! At least if these shows are going to go off the air in the next few years, let them go in style.

  • fanny

B&B: Yes,Susan Flannery is a tremendous actress ( a POWERHOUSE! ) and I adore her. She WAS the reason I used to watch the show. But the fact that she is leaving and Ron Moss left a while ago, speaks volumes of the sad state of this show and the direction it is going…I’m sorry, but I don’t think the younger generation is going to make me watch again.

But since there are only four soaps left on the air, I wish them all a happy long run. Otherwise, we will be subjected to another nauseating reality show.

  • reader

I briefly watched the Young and the Restless recently: I was disappointed. Jack now owns Newman Enterprises. When I watched the show in the past, it seemed as if the main storyline was about Beauty of Nature going back and forth to being owned by Jack, then Victor. Can’t the writers write about interesting experiences from their own lives, instead of writing repetitive storylines? I think they could get more viewers that way.

  • Kayla Rae

Kelby, I couldn’t disagree with you more regarding the possible return of Susan to Salem. I would be ever so disappointed if Susan didn’t come back with Kristen’s reappearance. What a missed opportunity that would be to myself and so many fans! Susan is a delightful character to behold. Cannot believe you would NOT want to see her resurface. Puzzling.

  • Lee

I don’t understand why DOOL is getting such bad numbers. The past two weeks have been excellent with Nicole losing the baby and blaming that self-righteous Jennifer Dev. I am very intrigued as to how Bo will leave the show now that his mum has alheimers (sp?) Also, I can’t wait to see how far Chad will go to try to salvage his relationship with Melanie (even thought she has already left the show.) I could see this being the thing that pushes him over as becoming a real DiMerra. I like how they are injecting some comedy in the show, ex. how Sami remarked that she’d been changing paternity results since she was in high school. And lastly, the return of mean, mean, mean Kristen should be great fun. Now, all they need to do is give Kayla an actual storyline and do something with Kate. Glad that they have gotten rid of Billie. She was waste of space.

  • Kayla Rae

I agree, Lee, I can’t believe that DOOL is getting low ratings with all the wonderful things happening with the show. How bizarre!

Did Lisa Rinna leave Days as Bille? They hadn’t been giving her any storyline to speak of. Same goes for Kayla…Kayla truly deserves some great storylines. She is being so underutilized. Wish they’d bring back Steve/Patch. Also, how fun it would be to bring the dynamic super-funny couple, Caliope Jones and Eugene Bradford back to Salem!

  • joshua

Omg people, susan is old and want a life outside of bb. She not leaving the show because she thinks it sad but she want to retire with her girl friend. YR and BB are grrrreat!
