Modern Family, Survivor, and Animal Practice were each adjusted up a tenth while CSI was adjusted down a tenth among adults 18-49 versus the preliminary Wednesday broadcast ratings.

The unscrambled ratings for last night's FOX programming are also below. This was the chronology that happened in the Eastern Time zone.

  • MLB Rain Delay Coverage (8-8:02pm)
  • Ben And Kate repeat (8:02-8:32pm)
  • MLB Rain Delay Coverage (8:33-8:40pm)
  • The X Factor (8:40-9:47pm)
  • The Mindy Project repeat (9:47-9:56pm)
  • NLCS Game 3 Conclusion (9:56-10:45pm)
Obviously the rain delay and forced return to baseball caused chaos and just crushed their ratings for the night. The data in the rating table is as much as we received.

Final broadcast primetime ratings for Wednesday, October 17, 2012:

    Why doesn’t ABC air an episode of Nashville after the CMA awards seems like they would make a good pair?

    Why doesn’t ABC air an episode of Nashville after the CMA awards seems like they would make a good pair?

    Because the networks don’t run primetime programming at 11pm.

    How can anyone get excited about anything on the CW ????

    glad to see Supernatural start higher than last season, and now its even growing a bit from the premier!
    Looks like the show is actually going to make up to 10 seasons like they now hope to !

    The fact that the rain delay lasted from 7pm (central) to 9pm (central) really upsets me. FOX resumed the game at around 9:01-ish (the actual game play, not the coverage) which means they had time to air the x factor in full. Why would someone make the decision to stall for 40 minutes with reruns before deciding to play regular programming (the x factor)? They knew fully well that the MLB game wasn’t over and they would eventually resume playing…

    Wouldn’t it make more sense to just start playing the x factor to get it over with and run the risk of cutting it off early? Instead of stalling for 40 minutes with a rerun, why wouldn’t they just play programming as scheduled? Because deciding to play a 2 hour show knowing there is only an hour and 20 minutes left in the time slot seems idiotic to me. Especially since this could’ve been avoided had they just played the x factor.

    (Sorry if I rambled nonsense, I’m just releasing my frustration.)

    Fox is going to rerun XFaxtor next Tuesday night at the same time as The Voice. I think XFactor is going to suffer again. The website “Vote For The Worst” has already listed the final 16 so there’s really no need to watch the show. It says that CECE Frey is one of them that made it.

    on a side note, we have weather forecasters and radars for a reason. Had FOX used them properly, they would’ve known they had 2 hours for the rain to clear and get the field ready to play again.

    ABC’s Comedy Wednesday isn’t nearly stron enough to launch new hits.

    Not a single show gets a 3.0 rating or higher other than Mod Fam.

    They need to fix that before anything else.

    I really think last year was a wasted opportunity with Sub vs. HappyEndings, but since what happened, happened, they shoudl’ve stuck to Middle-Sub-ModFam line up followed up by a new (worthy) comedy.

    The best they can do is a Middle-Sub-ModFam-new comedy for years to come to nurture this block, before pulling a Neighbors / Enings+23 / move all their sitoms around kind of stint(s) like they did this year.

    The whole let’s-try-everything-put-of-Modern-Family attitude isn’t working.

    If they must, they should air one Middle episode out of Mod Fam to encourage the audience to stick for the whole block.

    @Jeremy
    Why would someone make the decision to stall for 40 minutes with reruns before deciding to play regular programming (the x factor)?

    If FOX had been hearing from MLB for the first hour of the rain delay that they thought they could get the game going again around 8:30pm et, then there’s no way that FOX is going to start a two-hour episode of The X Factor.

    Now, once Ben and Kate is running, MLB comes back and says that storm has shifted slightly and now we have no idea if/when we can get this game resumed, FOX then decides to go ahead with The X Factor.

    Then, more than an hour later, MLB says that they think they can get the game going again – so FOX waits until a commercial break, cuts off The X Factor and switches back to baseball (or The Mindy Project apparently – maybe Joe Buck wasn’t ready or maybe they actually just screwed up; it doesn’t really matter, I’m not sure FOX cares much about a little snafu for a few minutes during a rain delay).

    Because deciding to play a 2 hour show knowing there is only an hour and 20 minutes left in the time slot seems idiotic to me.

    Why? Had the game not resumed, FOX would have simply aired The X Factor from 8:40-10:40pm. They would not have given the feed back to the local affiliates at 10pm.

    I think the big issue here is that people see what happened, and then say the solution for FOX should have been obvious. You have to put yourself in their shoes – they had no idea how long the rain delay would last and had to make the programming decisions based on the information that they had at the time, not the information you have today.

    The website “Vote For The Worst” has already listed the final 16 so there’s really no need to watch the show.

    Most or all of The X Factor’s final 16 has been known for a while. By your logic, there’s no need at all to watch any of the taped shows.

    The vast majority of the fanbase doesn’t sit around reading spoiler sites. If they did, there’s no way shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race would even be on the air.

  • Ultima

    @Jeremy

    Yes, because weather forecasters are right 100% of the time. And radar is able to predict exactly when a 30-60 minute window is going to open up over a very small piece of land (they can play in light rain, btw).

    Again, your version of FOX using information properly is them using what you know today, not what they knew while it was happening.

    I guess I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t impressed with Nashville. Chicago Fire is a better show (targets a different demo of course) but still a better show. Too much country music in Nashville and Hayden P is to squatty to play the hot slut.

  • Mike

    Mindy Project got a 22 episode run.

  • Martine

    Interesting that people are so happy with Arrow. It dropped a bit, no? It did better then Animal Practice and a rerun. I am sure thats good by CW standards, right? Is 1.3 good?

  • Holly

    @Martine,

    Yes, a 1.3 is good for the CW, very good.

  • Martine

    Wait, what is that…Is it 1.3? Or is it 1.1? What is that 1.1/3 mean?

  • Martine

    @ Holly; Thanx.

  • Holly

    @Martine,

    What is that 1.1/3 mean?
