Which New Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Fourth? (Poll)

10/19 Update: While Private Practice has now been canceled, it wasn't in the poll because it wasn't a rookie show. Proceed as usual!

While it was a distant second in our latest "Who'll be canceled next?" poll, Animal Practice was caught by the Cancellation Bear today and was the third show of the broadcast season to be canceled.

Which show will be next on the menu of the Cancellation Bear?

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later (two seasons ago those who answered The Whole Truth in the "next to be canceled" poll ended up being correct, it was removed first among the shows noted and never returned, despite initial ABC claims to the contrary).

What's your guess?

While this poll allows just one answer per person, feel free to expand your choices in the comments.

By your logic, being that it’s the only new comedy and since CBS always cancels its lowest rated comedy, it would have to topple one of the aforementioned behemoths to stay on the air. That makes zero sense

The only freshman comedies to be renewed by CBS in the past five seasons have outperformed existing comedies (The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, 2 Broke Girls).

So, yes, it does make sense to presume that CBS will cancel Partners because it isn’t outperforming the established shows.

Furthermore, because CBS has other shows that it can use to fill that timeslot, it is very unlikely that the show will get picked up for a full season (and there’s a reasonable chance it gets pulled prior to airing its ordered episodes).

FOX makes it through sweeps without showing (or cancelling?) The Mob Doctor

Actually, I’m sure it would be announced as a cancellation if they did that. I should have said they can make it through sweeps both without showing, or replacing, The Mob Doctor.

I;m really obsessing about The Neighbors…

Anyway, I;ve looked up all the ratings for all the other new shows this season and I found that the only new show other than those already picked up for full seasons (i.e. Revolution) that has a higher average rating based on all new episodes aired is Elementary. So if that show gets picked up then maybe so should The Neighbors?

    @Ultima
Nice of you stick up for your girl Holly. Didn’t know you guys were an item.
I already owned my scheduling mistake in my post, so no news there.

So 1.9 to 2.1 is not going up? Please explain. From what I understand it was the biggest ratings increase of any new show this week, but I was never good at math, so maybe you can school me on that one.

MNF airs on ESPN. Didn’t know we were counting cable networks. So you’re telling me that that when The Voice claims to be #1, they are really lying because they rated behind MNF as well. Gotcha.

We’ll see who’s delusional when Patnwrs gets the full season order.

I didn’t know that either; yay for me! 8)

So 1.9 to 2.1 is not going up? Please explain.

It’s up from last week, but flat with two weeks ago. Everything else on CBS’ Monday lineup was up as well. I would attribute the improvement mostly to Monday Night Football and noise. I’ll conceed the point if/when there’s multiple data points showing Partners improving.

So you’re telling me that that when The Voice claims to be #1, they are really lying because they rated behind MNF as well. Gotcha.

They’re not lying, they’re spinning – it’s what they do. Networks find all sorts of creative ways to make the numbers look good.

NBC isn’t the only network that ignores football in order to claim something is #1. FOX is still claiming that American Idol is #1 and CBS claims that NCIS is #1. They’re all both right and wrong, depending on your point of view.

Way to make me look bad, WordPress! :(

lmao. ezdunit is either grasping on straws and really is a fan or is a troll…thats the only explanation for this lol.

CBS standards for a well performing show are way higher than most networks….Unless youre an established ( which is why H50 well be lucky this season) if you arent performing abover a 2.5 demo wise….youre cancelled soon.

and Ultima is right, ratings goin up is if it did better than 2.1 monday…but it didnt….it plateaued…

btw for the made in jersey comment, i was talking about total viewers not the demo.

You also tend to forget one more thing : Rules of Engagement….which will most likely replace it.

Its funny how youve been corrected on all counts and you still insist itll have a full season. Being #2 doesnt mean crap.It would never be expected to be #1 considering the voice is its competition, but showing 2.8, a 3, instead of 2.1 and 1.9 makes a world of difference. If it isnt cancelled before the next episode airs and it goin under 2 again, The bear will be ready for dinner….

  • stanislav

    who was the second canceled?

  • LittleCheese

According to my inside source at ABC, Last Resort will air all 13 episodes and than its most than likely done for.

666 Park Avenue on the other hand will be gone by November sweeps. They may have air an encore episode of Revenge or Once Upon A Time until they get a mid-season replacement.

  • Holly

    @stanislav,

    who was the second canceled?

    Next Caller

  • Ryan

Move 2 1/2 Men to 8:30 MON and Partners to 8:30 THUR and things will be a lot better

  • iowegian

Those who are voting for the Neighbors are wrong. The question is what will be cancelled next, not which one do you want to be cancelled next. Haters vote illogically.

  • Just Looking

A “which show do you hate the most?” poll would be c-r-a-z-y.
