    CBS:
I’m 23 and love POI and The Mentalist. Anybody who says POI isn’t the hit CBS was hoping for is purely delusional. CBS is an older-skewing network and the demo group mainly watch the network for comedies. POI is constantly in the high 2’s or low 3’s which is terrific. It would do as well on any other day with no lead in as well because its extremely well-written, executed and has one of the most faithful fanbases.
Elementary is plain boring. They should take a leaf out of POI’s book on how to develop strong characters and somebody should teach them how to make interesting cases that doesn’t take the viewers 5 minutes to figure out while the lead is clueless for the most part, especially since he’s supposed to be the brilliant ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
Vegas had a weak pilot and the setting doesn’t attract any new demo viewers who weren’t compelled to it in the first place. I was on the verge of ditching Vegas myself, but it steadily improved and I’m kinda into it now. I think neither Elementary nor Vegas has a chance of getting renewed though. Vegas, since it’ll lose ratings even more and Elementary since along with losing more ratings, its already critically panned and most viewers either hate it or don’t vocally love it even if they see the show. Its like background static noise whereas CBS hoped for a roar like POI.
I watched TAHM after 6-7 years just to see how Miley (hate her music, but think she’s hot) fared and the show is still as awful as ever, but she was way better than the rest of the cast (I wish this show would just get cancelled already).

NBC: Other than my favorite new drama, which is constantly improving – REVOLUTION, I don’t watch anything else on NBC.

    ABC:
I’m happy that Last Resort gained a tenth from its last outing. Its my favorite new drama alongside Revolution. Judging by the other newbies and the timeslot, if it stays at that level, it should get a full season order. Last Resort would have benefited the most if it aired at Wednesdays at 10. Action-drama gels better than a soap, with a comedy lead-in. Nashville will most likely get cancelled if it does’t move to Scandal’s slot. Grey’s and Nashville are a better fit. Scandal should go to 666 slot and 666 can shift to either Last Resort’s or Nashville’s slot if ABC wants to save any of their new shows. With the announcement of PP’s cancellation and the other newbies performance, Scandal has a better chance at renewal (I like this show)

  • Dean

Also the 2 episode extension for both 666 and Last Resort might be good or bad depending on whether ABC asked them to wrap up or just gave them a vote of confidence.

    CW:
TVD is a good show. While the adjusted rating of 1.3 is pretty normal for the second episode, it got screwed over since the premiere was horrid. This episode was awesome and the way Elena was portrayed with her bloodlust should have been the focus of the premiere. Many tuned off this week because of the first episode. Next week should remain flat or jump a tenth in the ratings.
Beauty and the Beast is the single most panned show of the season. The premiere was indeed horrible which drove away tons of viewers. But its got two things working in its favor. One; its a procedural and can always attract older viewers anytime. Two, Kreuk has a large fanbase since her Smallville days and most guys love her. Many who saw the second episode, even if they hated the premiere, say it got really better. So if it does indeed get better in terms of storytelling, the ratings should even out in the following weeks and for it to have a chance at getting renewed, it must score 0.8+ till the end of the season. I love Kristin Kreuk, will give it 2 more chances to impress me.

  • Dean

I think the monstrosity that was Terra Nova, screwed over FOX last season. Why are they airing baseball!

  • bluejays

Yay. Go Greys. I don’t watch Scandal and do watch Revenge but can’t get the ‘Scandal haters’ it’s not doing any worse than the other ten pm shows on ABC. It’s tying Castle this week i think. So not exactly a terrible performance.

  • ShawnM

@ Dean: There’s only one person that’s delusional–and that might be the very person that thinks POI’s ratings are “terrific”. ;-) “Decent” would be a much more accurate and unbiased term to describe POI’s ratings.

  • Dean

@Shawn: They haven’t had a hit show that connected to the 18-49 demo for years. Sure the other procedurals on the network does have massive numbers, but they’re getting old and costly to produce and they are nowhere near the buzz or the strength in storytelling that POI creates.

  • ShawnM

@Dean: CBS hoped for POI to be the next big thing prior to last season. Based on those expectations, averaging below 3.0 for the second straight season clearly doesn’t make it “the hit CBS was hoping for,” especially now with its much better lead-in. CBS moved TAAHM to Thursdays only to help POI, and the results are that POI doesn’t look any stronger, yet Mondays are considerably weaker for CBS. In addition, 2BG, M&M, NCIS: LA, and CM all do better numbers than POI at 9:00pm.

“Buzz or the strength in storytelling” don’t make a show a hit. Viewers between the age of 18 and 49 do. Syndication deals do. POI has relatively few of those viewers and no lucrative syndication deal thus far to make up for it. CM, NCIS, NCIS: LA, CSI, H5O or TM may all be older and more expensive, but they have syndication deals to offset higher production costs.

  • Ariadne

@Luke i think last year it was said bu someone from the CW that no show qorks after TVD before the TVD fans don’t stick around but the go online to discuss the episode!

And if you think about it it’s tight because the only show that kinda worked after TVD was SPN which had a loyal folloiwing!

Plus i think that the TVD numbers are aboslutely great! And the fact that Arrow has more viewers does not anything to me because Arrow does not have half the competition that TVD has ans Stll TVD which is on its fourth season matches Aroow(on the demo)which is only in its second episode!
Ans if you compare episode-to episode it’s clear taht TVD managed to improve from S3!

  • James S

@ShawnM, No show gets a syndication deal after 1 season, or 2. It usually comes after 5, if lucky 4 so POI can´t be criticised for not having one. What it can be is praised for keeping a steady, difficult audience. Difficult for a network which usually struggles to get those numbers for that age range. Yes, it can improve but numbers don’t make it a great show. XFactor and DwTS have previously pulled in such demo numbers and I would say they are absolutely badly written junk tv.

  • thomas

B.B is BAD and K.K. is not a good actress!

  • GK

Beauty-Beast second episode was better, but its still not worth watching. Kristin Kreuk is awesome though.

  • GK

Agree with James and Dean. Person of Interest is indeed a hit for CBS. Revolution and Last Resort are awesome too.

  • Susan

    @MoHasanie

Oh, just stop already. You trash Grey’s Anatomy every single week. Premiere week you wrote that you hope it falls to the 2s. Ok, you don’t like the show, so just shut up and don’t comment about it every week.

  • ShawnM

@James S: Not true. Among recent examples, TM got a syndication deal at the start of its second season, H5O at the end of its first season and NCIS: LA after only seven episodes. It doesn’t take real hits more than a year these days to receive a syndication deal.

Again, POI’s ratings are fine. It’s just not a bonafide hit as some die-hard fans like to claim, regardless of its quality. I’m only talking “TV by the numbers” here.

  • GK

@Shawn: They come with a whole lot of deals and specifics when made so early and cost the network a lot if it backfires. Why do you think CBS waited 4 seasons before moving The Mentalist after it reached the necessary amount of episodes for syndication? Even the execs from other channel demand a specific rating for the show they’re buying. Do you really think CBS is happy that H50 is losing more than 40% of its demo from last season? They promised the advertisers and whatever channel that will air it after 88 episodes a minimum rating and I’m sure as hell they aren’t holding up their end of the deal. Syndication or not, H50 is in trouble because now they know casual fans aren’t as attracted to it as they had hoped.
POI will truly sustain its ratings on any day imho and should be in a syndication deal very soon.

  • GK

    That should be 25%

  • Cheryl

    @Max

Yes, because hitting a series low and dropping both week to week and year to year is “steady”.

  • Kayla

@bluejays Scandal is a very good show. You should check it out. Not a lot of People know about Scandal. I have been telling people about show and they did not even know anything about it. Scandal was only heavily promoted on ABC. Whereas some of the other shows on ABC were promoted on a lot different networks.

  • MeMe

I can not believe Scandal is not higher. That show is really good. It keeps it interesting with all the twist and turns. Maybe Shonda should have promoted it everywhere not just on ABC.
