Fox Bumps Animated Comedies, Moves NLCS Giants/Cards Game 6 Into Sunday Primetime

Originally scheduled to start at 4:30pm Eastern, Fox has moved the start time for the baseball NLCS Game 6 telecast between the Giants & Cardinals to 7pm Eastern so that the game will air entirely in Eastern/Central primetime (and compete against the Steelers/Bengals game, instead of primarily the Patriots/Jets game).

Because of that, the animated line up of The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy and American Dad will not be seen Sunday night.

Those episodes will presumably replace what was to be an all repeat animation Sunday later in the season with new episodes, but no word on what date that might be at this time.

    FOX is a mess

I never thought I could hate baseball more than I already did but Fox is really pushing my hate through the roof this year.

The animated shows would have done better numbers. These aren’t big market teams. Dumb move.

Those original episodes will presumably replace repeats on another Sunday. The eventual ratings tradeoff that Fox is making is animated *repeats* vs. NLCS game 6.

That sucks. I have my DVR set up for those shows. They don’t stand a chance against Sunday Night Football. I know what I will be watching. Let’s go Faith Hill…………

  • Johnny Rotten

    Suck it cartoon loving morons!

  • MattM

    @Bill

That makes a lot more sense.

  • Gina

Yay! I’ll be home to watch my Giants live now!!!

  • Dan

@Bill – My guess is maybe December 2, 9, or 16 where new animated episodes are slated to air but havent officially been scheduled. One of those nights that were supposed to be repeats will be those episodes. However, unlike dramas or some live action comedies that may have continuity (which may affect episode order) these series have no continuity between episodes, so it really doesn’t matter that much. Back in 2011 the animated Hurricane crossover was preempted from May 1, 2011 to October 2, 2011.

It’s supposed to rain, and FOX doesn’t want another Tuesday situation.

  • Ben

Detroit is going to be one well rested team when the World Series finally starts.

  • Jon23812

So is FOX still going to call the “Yug Ylimaf” episode of Family Guy the 200th episode. (Even though it’s actually the 192nd episode)

  • AppleStinx

Detroit Tigers in the World Series? What happened to the Yankees?

  • rob60990

Yankees lost after the first 4 games.

  • K

It’s a gamble. The Steelers bring big ratings to whatever channel they are on.

  • Rich

    Smart move by Fox

  • DW

yeah smart move by fox. the numbers are not good for base ball but niether are bob , Cleveland and dad.

  • Rich

Will this mean Fox will televise NFL in the late window?

  • Samuel

Ugh, baseball is so annoying. First bumping X Factor for it and now this? Fox must be pretty delusional to think that this would do better than either of those.
