AMERICA DECIDES ON NBC’S ‘The Voice’ AS HIT SERIES GOES LIVE WITH BROADCASTS DURING ELECTION WEEK ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7 AND THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – October 22, 2012 – NBC’s “The Voice” gets “Election Fever” in a three-night event in which America will vote for the first time this season to help decide which artists get into the Top 12 as the popular vocal competition series will have special live broadcasts on Wednesday, November 7 (8-10 p.m. ET) and on Thursday, November 8 (8-9 p.m. ET) -- as well as its regular airing on Monday, November 5 (8-10 p.m. ET).

This will give the hit show five hours over three nights that week. “The Voice” will not be broadcast on Tuesday, November 6 due to NBC News’ Election Night coverage.

To date, "The Voice" is the #1 unscripted program on the major networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers, with the Monday edition averaging a 5.1 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49 and 13.9 million viewers overall. That makes "The Voice" the #4 series overall on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and the #9 show in total viewers (excluding sports pre- and post-game shows).

"The Voice" is a vocal competition show that features celebrity musician coaches Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as well as Carson Daly as host and Christina Milian as Social Media Correspondent. “The Voice” is a presentation of Mark Burnett’s One Three Media, Talpa Media USA Inc. and Warner Horizon Television. The series is created by John de Mol, who executive-produces along with Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Stijn Bakkers and Lee Metzger.

More bad news for X Factor. Ouch.

  • Ultima

In before the comparisons to Millionaire! ;)

  • atlanta

More bad news for anyone who hates these stupid faux talent shows too. Thank gawd for cable.

  • Oliver

I guess it works for America’s Got Talent

  • Oliver

Wait a second, 2 hours on Wednesday? So 5 hours of The Voice in one week?

  • Samunto

I think FOX did sth similar to Idol every now and then. NBC could also be testing the waters for next season. If they can’t find a solid hit for Thursdays at 8pm they might as well transplant The Voice there and raise ratings for whatever comedies will air at 9pm.
Yes, the comparisons to Millionaire are inevitable.

And they really want to kill the already poorly perfoming X Factor!

  • Ryan30

    Great. Just what we needed

  • Sam

Aren’t The Voice kind of milking it?

Can’t wait until the ratings fall! Maybe not this season, maybe not next… but eventually it will get knocked off it’s pedestal and I for one, cannot wait for that day!

  • Baqinardo

After knock out rounds, there’ll be 20 artist left (5 from each coach).
Usually they’ll air 2 teams per week (Monday). Maybe bcoz this fall season is shorter (Or they want to destroy XF), they decided to air ALL team in the same week.
So the week after, all team can perform the same night (TOP 12).

Yup. FOX does this with Idol every single year.

  • NBC

Anyone who watches this show should be ashamed.

    It is absolute crap.
NBC Knows it too, milk the cow till it dies and it will be a quick death.

  • THE OLD MAN

This will surely “wipeout” ABC’s comedies 8-9, but 9-10 should prove very interesting. Also interesting will be CBS 8-9 on Thurs, the battle between TBBT & MF (top scripted) vs top unscripted.

NBC is quite bold with this move, but I’m game for the outcome. It’s already proven it can beat XFac head to head.

    BRING IT ON

  • THE OLD MAN

    @ Samuto
    @ Optima

NUMEROUS TIMES if memory serves me well

  • Oliver

Apparently this puts The Voice head-to-head with the first X Factor live shows. Boom.

  • THE OLD MAN

    Sorry, Ultima

  • Simon Cowell

I wanted you guys to be the first to know that FOX have confirmed that TheXFactorUSA will be back next year for it’s third season.

And thank you NBC , we dont need to kill the Voice anymore, you are doing a very nice job. Please air Voice specials on Friday as well every week and also consider a 3rd season per year. Thanks.

Here. Here. I’m sick of all these singing competitions with barely a talent to be had in a while.

  • Um

    >Here. Here. I’m sick of all these singing competitions with barely a talent to be had in a while.

No offence, but 1D, Leona Lewis & Little Mix were all discovered on XF UK Edition, X Factor does create stars. These people have sold millions of albums. It takes time for a show, it started small in UK too and is now a massive success.

The Voice is just a fun show, it knows it is incapable of a musical star, so they air it so many times, as a cash cow and to save NBC. No pretense of finding talent.

  • Oliver

X Factor replaced the UK version of Idol. It was a hit from the start.

  • Glue

NO. What is wrong with NBC. We GET That it’s a smash hit, but I also get that if NBC keeps its shows relying on The Voice then after The Voice ends its Cycle (in January?) Then their shows will be an epic fail. They have to have a show that doesn’t rely on The Voice, and when they find it, they’ll exploit it and keep moving days/times and kill the show.

And the NERVE of them trying to kill X-Factor! It’s not a Huge Hit but it has its loyal fan-base but The Voice will take it away -.-
