According to the Twitter Feed of lead actor Stephen Amell, Arrow has been picked up for a full season by The CW. We'll update this post if an official press release materializes soon.

Here it is!

via press release:

October 22, 2012 (Burbank, CA) - The CW picked up a full season of its breakout hit drama ARROW, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.

"Our strategy of rolling out our new fall schedule later in the year really paid off for The CW on several levels, especially with ARROW, which was the network's most watched premiere in three years and is one of the breakout hits of the new season," said Pedowitz. "I'm proud of the quality of ARROW and I'm happy we'll be able to share more of it with viewers."

ARROW scored a bull's-eye for The CW with its premiere, which drew 4.14 million viewers, making it the network's most watched telecast of any show, on any night, in three years. The ARROW debut also marked The CW's most watched series premiere since THE VAMPIRE DIARIES in 2009. In its second outing, ARROW became the only new network drama this season to maintain its audience in both adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 from its premiere to its second week.

ARROW is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg.

Does this mean, the other new shows are almost scrapped?

  • Melanie

Geez, CW! What took you so long! LOL!!!

Congrats to Arrow’s cast & crew and to the CW for finally having some good news about one of their newbies!

  • omabin

no surprise at all, but yeaaaah

  • SmG

Finally a sucessful show since TVD. Congrats!

    Everyone saw this coming.

I’m kind of on the fence with this one. I want to like it but I just can’t. Amell is good looking but his acting is wooden and he lacks charisma. The storyline hasn’t grabbed me yet and to be honest I only watch for Kate Cassidy. But I’ll keep watching since I don’t have anything better to do on Wednesdays.

Well, that’s good news. Of course, the ratings could collapse down into the usual CW mess by spring. But my guess is the show will do reasonably well (for the CW, anyway.)

I do think the CW should make a push to become “the new SyFy” – since no one wants to watch any SyFy shows these days. Most of what the CW has on now is genre shows – the old teen stroke shows are on their way out.

They should buy Alphas from SyFy since that show is likely doomed on SyFy and would probably do at least as well on the CW. :-)

    Happy for Arrow & CW!

Totally agree about Alphas, but who knows if NBCU would be willing to sell to CBS or Warner Bros? Such a quality show, of course it’s underrated

congrats to arrow…and though it is not a new show, congrats to supernatural for holding it’s 1.0 from episode 2 to episode3,
    supernatural wednesdays. arrow. spn.cw.

  • s0303

that’s good, a little earlier than i expected…really good show, i liked the second episode even better than the first…

Yeah Buddy! Arrow is a great show, lots of action, a little eye candy. It’s a full package, something for everybody. :)

Could this mean more DC superheroes in the future getting their own show, if the CW can stay in business? DC does have a number of canidates that could traslate well on TV. I still want a Deathstroke spinoff or maybe a Birds of Prey spinoff(they already have Black Canary and Huntress appearing in Arrow). Heck throw Zatanna in that group and bring back Serinda Swan to play the role,HOT!!!! Also wouldn’t mind seeing a Sandman or Hellblazer series.

Well Deadman and Amazon are still in development so there is a good chance. How cool would that be for an awesome Wednesday lineup next Season? :D

  • david

Great news. I really hope it maintaings that 1.3 and hope it can grow from it. Its a really great show.

  • rocco

Alright then, bring on the renewal!!. Now the show just need to battle for a second season. After that it wont be so hard to get to a third, forth, fifth etc season….

One down….wait to go Green Arrow, everyone needs to know how awesome you are. They said you will never make it on air, they were wrong!

  • thesnowleopard

I’m shocked–SHOCKED–by this totally foreseen development!

It’s a little earlier than I thought they might go, but I can see why they gave it a full season.

    now bring on AMAZON.

Another DC superhero series the CW can adapt is Teen titans/Young justice. Something for the young ones while Arrow and Amazon are kept mature and for all ages, well mostly more mature and dark. CW needs to make everything for everyone to widen their audiences.

Arrow is doing a good job of appealing to all audiences so far, glad of the news. The show has so much potential, superhero fans. DC/Marvel please watch thats the only way we can get more and more, even if you aren’t the biggest Green Arrow fan, watch for fun and do this for Amazon, this show could be he ticket of your favourite superhero getting a TV show or movie. Shows like Smallville parved the way for superhero shows, now we have Arrow, Shield and Amazon likely will happen. Support.

    *the* ticket not he

I dont think its shocking really at this point, Revolution and other NBC shows got a full season order earlier than expected and those shows especially revolution are a lot riskier as far as im concerned, being a high concept production and not having such a sustainable and believable premise from what I have seen of the pilot, nevertheless Im glad its numbers are doing well, less reality crap and more scripted shows, even if some are not my type. Some Fox shows doing not so great have already been picked up for full seasons, ABC is having faith in its new freshman shows by odering more episodes . So it looks like CBS is the only network not tolerating any bs this season.

Back to Arrow, good news indeed.

  • LoveMEhw

    WOW, nice

Arrow is great but Smallville was better
