THE CW ORDERS FULL SEASON OF BREAKOUT HIT "Arrow"

October 22, 2012 (Burbank, CA) - The CW picked up a full season of its breakout hit drama Arrow, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.

"Our strategy of rolling out our new fall schedule later in the year really paid off for The CW on several levels, especially with Arrow, which was the network's most watched premiere in three years and is one of the breakout hits of the new season," said Pedowitz. "I'm proud of the quality of ARROW and I'm happy we'll be able to share more of it with viewers."

ARROW scored a bull's-eye for The CW with its premiere, which drew 4.14 million viewers, making it the network's most watched telecast of any show, on any night, in three years. The ARROW debut also marked The CW's most watched series premiere since THE Vampire Diaries in 2009. In its second outing, ARROW became the only new network drama this season to maintain its audience in both adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 from its premiere to its second week.

ARROW is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg.

    I like Arrow a lot.
It’s a little early, but it’s shaping up to be my favorite CW show ever.

    CW midseason schedule:

    Mon-
    8: 90210
    9: The Carrie Diaries

    Tue-
    8: HoD
    9: Emily Owens, MD

    Wed-
    8: Arrow
    9: Supernatural

    Thu-
    8: TVD
    9: Cult

    Fri-
    8: America’s Next Top Model 29 (Jan-Feb)/ Beauty & The Beast (Mar-May)
    9: Nikita

Every one of the fall pilots will get a full season. There’s just too many holes in the schedule. 2 shows are only for half-seasons (Gossip Girl & ANTM) and there’s only 2 replacements (Cult & The Carrie Diaries).
So, all the new shows need to stay on the schedule all year.

    Most excellent!

Actually, I think Top Model has only a few more episodes left for this cycle. I think it’ll be gone by November for sure and I think Beauty will locate to Friday much quicker.

  • RS

I like your schedule, Nick. Keep Arrow and SPN together – if it’s working, don’t fix it. Give Cult a shot at the prime slot. Move Beauty and the Male Model to the death zone to await cancellation. Works for me.

    @Nick
So, all the new shows need to stay on the schedule all year.

Because filling an hour with repeats for a significant portion of the season isn’t something that the CW has done practically every single year?

    Nonsense.

The rookie shows might all get full seasons, but it’s not even remotely guaranteed.

I think it’s unlikely they pull any of the rookies before they air 13 episodes, but even that is possible if the ratings go low enough.

“Actually, I think Top Model has only a few more episodes left for this cycle. I think it’ll be gone by November for sure and I think Beauty will locate to Friday much quicker.”

If it runs 13 episodes, as it mostly has in the past, then it has 5 more episodes left to air this cycle. Assuming a skip for Black Friday, it would end on Nov 30 (or thereabouts).

The CW’s far more likely to just run repeats in that hour over the Dec/Jan period than to move an existing show there leaving a repeat after Vampire Diaries.

    @Bill

Well that makes more sense. With The Carrie Diaries certainly taking GG’s slot, I’m really curious to see where CW places CULT.

Personally, I would prefer it anchoring Fridays leading into Nikita, however, I want it to succeed and I see it being sampled on Thursdays if CW cancels/moves Beauty.

Kinda early dont ya think? It doesnt do that well, and it still has a chance to tank. Which i think it will. The CW is so desperat its pathetic.

  • alexjones

    no surprises here.

  • SG

Glad that Katie Cassidy is in a show that will last a few seasons. She was the bright star of Melrose Place 2.0.

  • Nick

I thought America’s Next Top Model has 2 cycles schduled for this season?

Yeah. A 1.3 rating is SO much worse than its other options, a 0.7 and a 0.5.

    CW is doing it right.

  • POI

is it for a 22 episode season or a 23 im not 100 percent sure i first thought it was 22 but now they will air the midseason of supernatural 1 week early so that mean when both show get back they will be in the same episode which is episode 10 what does that mean anyone??
