The Gloves are Off as THE X FACTOR LIVE Shows Start Thursday, November 1

FOX has ordered a third season of THE X FACTOR, it was announced today by Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

“I couldn't be happier about THE X FACTOR already being renewed for another season,” said Simon Cowell. “I am so proud of the show and the team who have made it this season. I want to thank our incredible sponsors for their support and creativity, and FOX for going out of their way to do everything they can to make this show a success. Most importantly, I have to personally thank our amazing fans for the support and enthusiasm they have given to THE X FACTOR. Our main commitment will always be to find great talent, and let's not forget, we are now days away from our first live shows. The gloves are off! Expect fireworks!”

“This season, Simon and the producers of THE X FACTOR took an already strong show and made it absolutely fantastic. The format changes are working, the contestants are unbelievably talented, and Britney and Demi – alongside Simon and L.A – have brought an incredibly fun new chemistry to the judges’ panel that our fans really love,” said Darnell. “We feel great about the show and I’m thrilled to bring it back next year for Season Three.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled that THE X FACTOR will be returning to FOX for a third hit season,” said Trish Kinane, President of Entertainment Programming at FremantleMedia North America. “We’ve seen an incredible range of talent so far and we’re getting set for some truly blockbuster live shows this season that viewers will love. THE X FACTOR has really come into its own this year, finding its unique place and cementing its position as one of the leading talent shows in the entertainment landscape, as well as showing clear potential to build into a brand with true longevity. We’re looking forward to working with the fantastic teams at FOX and Syco, along with our sponsors, to build upon the show’s success.”

Season to date, THE X FACTOR is averaging a 3.9 rating among Adults 18-49 and 10.6 million Total Viewers and is a Top 15 show this fall among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. In addition, THE X FACTOR is a Top 5 entertainment program among Teens this season.

THE X FACTOR continues to break social TV records with the most fan engagement of any series on television and three times the social activity of its genre competitors. Each episode consistently achieves more Twitter trending topics than the competition. The second season premiere of THE X FACTOR shattered the record for a series premiere, garnering 1.4 million social comments, according to Bluefin Labs.

Following schedule changes due to the rain-delayed MLB NLCS game last week, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, the highly anticipated conclusion of the “Judges’ Homes” round of THE X FACTOR will air at a special time from 9:30-10:30 PM ET/PT on FOX. Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears will reveal the 16 acts among the Teens, Young Adults, Groups and Over 25s categories that will continue in the competition.

Next week, the Top 16 acts will perform on a special LIVE two-and-a-half hour show, hosted by Khloé Kardashian Odom and Mario Lopez, on Thursday, Nov. 1 (8:00-10:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed).  THE X FACTOR live shows continue on a special night on Sunday, Nov. 4 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) with additional performances and the announcement of the Season Two finalists.

THE X FACTOR was created by Syco Television and is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America. Rob Wade and Nigel Hall are executive producers for Syco Television. Trish Kinane, Richard Holloway and Andrew Llinares serve as executive producers for FremantleMedia North America. “Like” THE X FACTOR on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TheXFactorUSA. • I hate you all

these types of crap t.v shows need to go and the losers who watch and participate in them as well. its just brain washing to cover up of whats going in the world! Please go die if you waste your life on this junk.

  • ICBBsFuture

Honestly, Britney isn’t that good as a judge. Wasn’t a fan of Demi but she’s actually doing an awesome job. Again IMO Britney is a big let down as far as judging goes. Simon and LA is as expected.

  • Rick

Simon please go away and take your other loon with you. (piers morgan)

  • aiden

@THE OLD MAN who is talking about Maroon 5 idiot ? ‘i’m talking about xtina because all the haters are saying that she is winning over britney cause the voice has more rating but in music britney sold more than her! LOL i love maroon 5 my comment are for christina’s fans

    @ aiden

This idiot is pointing out the fact that Christina & Britney are not the only judges on the two shows & right now neither has chart dominance–Maroon 5 trumps them both.

  • Josh

FOX is doing terrible this year, and X Factor is one of it’s only steady shows.

Hopefully they dont get budget cuts.

  • Jay

I know the ratings are down, but I’m really liking the new judging panel. I hope they stick with it..well except maybe LA Reid. Comes off a bit creepy to me..

  • mxxlive

I am so happy that it was renewed. Kinda expected it! I love the show but I feel that Season 3 will be on with a few changes… including the panel. I am a fan of Britney and Demi but with the rate it`s going, I have a feeling that Demi would be the only one between the two to be retained. I hope not but it`s my gut telling me.

Cannot wait for the lives! New groups and a new act! Excited!

  • mxxlive

    Bring back CHERYL COLE!!

  • psychic

Worst, fakest, most obviously scripted singing competition show ever.
It deserves to burn in a hole.

  • Bob

These poor people who have nothing in their lives but stupid reality shows are truly pitiful. Sad really. Simon is a high school dropout who was a loser and failed at every thing he did before this show came along. But, the viewers are losers too, so they go hand in hand.

  • DD

Some people pay more attention to TV shows than their own family. Idiots.

  • Jimmy

I am a huge Britney fan and have been for years, but even I can’t watch this show. I’m so sick of ALL the singing competitions that I avoid every single one of them at all costs. I hope Britney leaves the show at the end of the season and makes another album instead. Her talents are wasted on reality TV.

  • TV Host

I find it ridiculous that the fans of this bland show did not care that this article is a press release. They did not even check the EXAGGERATED numbers!!!

How can you get an average of 3.9 when the show hardly hits beyond 3.5 on any given day??? Where did they get the 10 million viewers when the show was consistently below 10 million?

FABRICATED news! No wonder! It’s a PRESS RELEASE!!! Why would they actually tell you the truth. This article made it appear that the Flop Factor is the must-see show on TV! LMFAO!!!! Lol! In your dreams!!!

Britney is USELESS because she FAILED to bring in viewers!
FACT: The show did BETTER (A LOT BETTER) with Nicole and Paula last season! You want proof? I’ll give you the numbers!

Flop Factor fans are rejoicing with what? An impressively done FABRICATED press release! Lol! I’d still rely on the ratings and viewership, and for that matter I shall shift my attention to the daily and weekly ratings… Data that do NOT lie!

In addition, I have yet to see Flop Factor in the top 10 of the top 25 shows!!! Where is it??? Where???

  • Hey

    No one understood Cheryl hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • greenmantis

That is too bad this junk is being renewed. All of these so called talent shows are the same. Marginal talent screeching just enough offkey to be REALLY annoying. If I wanted to listen to third rate hacks screeching, I will go to karaoke night at the local bar. At least I can then get a strong drink to phase out the losers.

  • BarrysHypocrisy

FOX must really be hard up for any kind of new programming if they are going to run this crap again.

  • Satch

Other than big ****s,why is Kloe Kardashian qualified for the X factor.Scraping the bottom of the barrel.
