Nikita premiered with a "look away" bad 0.3 adults 18-49 rating for its third season. However, when the CW renewed the already poorly rated Nikita for a third season last spring, co-owner Warner Brothers (that produces Nikita) put a stake in the ground that should get it a fourth season to reach 88 episodes for stripped syndication. The other co-owner of the CW, CBS, has done this before with their low rated dramas (most recently, The Good Wife), and I predict will do it again (Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0).

I'm not going to guarantee Nikita will air during the broadcast season, perhaps the CW will do with it as they have America's Next Top Model and push it off to a mostly or all summer schedule, but those 88 episodes are going to get made, last spring's renewal all but guarantees it.

Emily Owens, MD premiere ratings were woeful too, and it'll probably be in the headline next week.

Because the folks at the CW seem to like short final seasons for their veteran shows, I assume 90210 will be renewed for a 13 episode final season next year, even with its terrible ratings. They could certainly change their tune and cancel it though if schedule time next season gets tight.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    I forgot the vampire diaries.
is one of the most successful here in Latin America.
    Warner Channel is transmitted

  • Anna

In Brasil the first season of Nikita also failed in Warner Channel! The same happened with the third season of Gossip Girl, and now the show is on Glitz, but this channel isn’t so important like WC.

  • mich

share the same channels and the same series, but in different languages.
    I’m from Argentina

  • Anna

Yes, sometimes the commercials are in spanish here for this reason.

syndication doesn’t matter if no one wants to air the repeats…and why would they if it can only get a 0.3 on its third season premiere?

  • Michael

To be fair, Nikita might find an audience and a fan-base on channels like: TNT, USA, and FX.

  • Kavyn

@Ray Nikita always has a higher number of viewers than other CW shows. If Nikita got to 300k viewers, it’s very likely shows rated similarly to Nikita would also be at 300k or less viewers.

The decline in ratings is an issue from the CW, not the shows themselves. Every other show is declining too.

  • Kavyn

Also, like I posted yesterday, I support turning Nikita into summer programming. The ratings don’t justify renewal during the broadcast season, and it’s very possible the CW can use Nikita to draw in a different type of fanbase during the summer.

    @Mayorofsmpleton
CW is a different net from the time of Veronica Mars at that point the thought of this new supper net merger of WB and UPN now the CW was suppose to be able to compete with Fox/ABC/CBS/NBC by airing the best of both nets on the stronger station in whatever market, needless to say 2 seasons later it became an all drama net geared at young woman that CBS and WB was willing to loose $ in the short run for long term syndication value

    @Robert
    my research shows CBS makes>>
    Beauty and Beast, 90210

    WB Makes>>>
    Arrow, Supernatural,
    mid-season>> Carrie Diaries, CULT

    WB/CBS shared>>
Emily Owens, Heart of Dixie, Nikita, Vampire Diaries,Gossip Girl..

so being that Arrow and Supernatural are the highest rated shows on the net…I would expect 90210 and B&B to either come back or be replaced by new CBS shows next season to keep the 50/50 ratio that is normally around

  • Jen

I’m a big Nikita fan but I don’t think Nikita will be renewed. Not even the cast would want to be on another season with this flop. They are “loosing” other opportunities as movies or even other shows. I love the show and I’ll keep watching it until it got cancelled, but i hate seeing these ratings, it’s such a good show, deserves better.

  • Pepper

90210 is a goner. Why bother giving it a final season? It never really managed to garner the same pop culture buzz as the original 90210, and was never a ‘flagship’ show for the network. It’s reached syndication numbers and should be given the heave-ho this spring.

  • Joe

By that Nikita logic, why did The CW cancel Veronica Mars after Season 3? A fourth season would have also gotten it to the 88 episode mark.

  • Randy

I hope Beauty & the Beast gets cancelled. It’s just another CSI / Grimm / Bones type of show, and who needs more of that. I don’t know why CW choose Green Arrow. Why didn’t they think Batman? Who’s one of the most popular WB characters? It’s Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Yet, they chose Green Arrow. Really?? I will still watch this Arrow show, but it doesn’t make sense about no Batman…

And for Wonder Woman, they completely flopped that with the new costume.

  • mike

Mark my words, The Carrie Diaries will be a monster success for the network, much like Gossip Girl was in its first season. I also predict Cult will do pretty well, it could potentially be the next X-Files. Arrow, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural are sure renewals. Emily Owens M.D will more than likely be canceled along with 90210. There is ZERO reason to renew a show with terrible ratings like that. It has already reached a syndication number. Smallville and One Tree Hill got finals seasons because they were always steady performers. Gossip Girl did because it was a pop culture phenomenon at one point. Nikita and America’s Next top model will get summer seasons with Nikita burning off its final episodes during the fall season. Beauty and the Beast has potential for a renewel and everything else is done- yes including hart of dixie. That show just doesn’t garner an audience. Sorry not sorry.

  • anna

The new season of Nikita was actually….boring

I felt nothing watching it. They change stuff to quickly I dont know just didn get the feeling no more

  • John A

TVD is steady and Supernatural have increased in ratings so no not all CW shows are down. You cant really use that excuse for Nikita.

  • tscchope

hohum, I(thought it was NBC that owned the other half of CW and it’s CBS. Guess WB will make good any advertising revenue shortfall for CW on Nikita

  • Anna

Hart of Dixie has good numbers for a show almost without promotion that pass in the same hour that The Voice.

  • Bizarro

Nikita needs to be cancelled after this season. If international viewerships was such a big factor Ringer would still be on! I can’t believe Hart is a toss up again and B&TB too. I think Nikita is a good show but I’m tired of all the shows that are doing better than Nikita getting cancelled! I wish Fox would own half of the CW, then Nikita would of ended with a satisfying ending in its second season.
