Update: Happy Endings premiered to a 1.9 and Don't Trust the B premiered to a 1.7 last night.  Your predictions were too optimistic!

Tonight sees the premieres of Don't Trust the B in Apt 23 and Happy Endings on ABC. Both sitcoms are moving to Tuesdays from their former Wednesday timeslots, which could be an issue as Dancing With the Stars isn't exactly the lead-in it used to be. Still, both series have loyal fanbases, so maybe that won't matter. Cast your vote for how you think these comedies will premiere tonight and tell us why in the comments!

Handicapping Info: Don't Trust the B in Apt 23 premiered to a 2.9 last year and its finale earned a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating.  Happy Endings earned a 3.1 for its second season premiere last year but fell to a 1.7 for its finale.

Both shows should be getting 4.0+

They are the best comedies on tv! They just don’t get the award love that Mod Fam gets.

  • Honey Badger

@ SJ Not the same post, I added ALL the programs on other networks they will compete against.
I know you disagree but I think it makes a difference. NCIS: Los Angeles and The X Factor have very high 18 – 49 ratings, and will take away viewers from Don’t Trust The B in Apt 23 and Happy Endings.
Plus I agree with excellent analysis “Jack S Posted October 23, 2012 at 2:39 PM “Everyone seems to be a lot more optimistic than I am! Against the similar skewing FOX comedies, I don’t see either cracking a 2.0 Jack S Posted October 23, 2012 at 2:40 PM Oops, I forgot The X Factor was on rather than Mindy. Point still stands for HE and that won’t help Apartment 23.”

Don’t Trust The B in Apt 23 and Happy Endings in same time slow and compete ting against : NCIS: Los Angeles , The X Factor ,Go On , The New Normal, New Girl, Emily Owens, M.D.
I still predict less than 1.8 for both shows, Don’t Trust The B in Apt 23 and Happy Endings, and ABC will cancel both shows before the season ends

The good news is that ABC will beat CW which has Emily Owens, M.D. in the same time slot. Emily Owens, M.D will get a 0.2 and soon will be cancelled.

The big question will CW cancel Emily Owens, M.D this week after the results come out?

the Cancellation Bear is hungry. Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear.

im going 2.5-2.9. the other sitcoms at that hour are not doing well and b23 was pretty good last spring.

  • Tony ^_^

I say both premiere to low 2’s (2.2) and they’ll be steady for most of the season with mid-to-high 1’s.

Looks like it will be a fight between ABC, FOX and NBC to establish a Tuesday comedy block…

    @ Tony ^_^ good point

    i love these shows

  • Honey Badger

I predict after tonights results are known, CW will cancel Emily Owens, M.D within a week

  • Samunto

I don’t think any will get close to a 2.0

    Happy Endings: 1.7
    App. 23 1.6

And am being generous with the above figures. And am a huge fan of Happy Endings esp Penny!

  • Luke

Please please please please be above 2.0 for both shows. Tomorrow will be my most anticipated ratings report of the entire year. I love these two shows and they deserve higher ratings but I don’t have much hope.

  • RJ

    Happy Endings – 1.5
    Apartment 23 – 1.2

  • s0303

about the same as last man standing/cougar town, though they may be up a little for premieres…i’m guessing around 1.8-2.1…

  • taylor

    Happy Endings – 1.8
    Apt. 23 – 1.6

    both deserve 3.0+

  • Justin

    In My World:

    Happy Endings- 2.5
Apartment 23- 1.1 (Sorry, I hate the show)

  • AniMatsuri

I think it would have been a more interesting poll to see which comedy will beat the other: New Girl, Happy Endings, & Go On. My guess is it will be in that order in the ratings.

i would seriously take anything over a 2.0. my hopes are that low. happy endings hasn’t been on in 6 months i think and left off with a 1.7. and while apt. 23 got a nice 2.4 for its finale, it did so after MF and only had 7 eps to establish a fanbase. so i really fear that with no lead-in, with competition, and so-so promo funniness (DAMN IT ABC! just get the guy who does MF promos to do these promos too!), and partial fanbases, that they’ll both get 1.6-1.9 tonight. but i’m SO SO SO hoping i’m wrong. anything over 2.0 and i’ll be happy. anything 2.3 or more and i’ll throw a party. over 2.5 and i might pass out.

  • Ian

    Happy Endings- 2.7
    Apartment 23- 2.3
I think HE will stabilize in the mid 2’s and Apt. 23 in the low 2’s if both manage this they are certain renewals.

  • Patrick Gillease

Since all of ABC’s Tuesday comedies basically tanked last year, I would expect the same for “Happy Endings” and “B in Apt 23.” Normally, I would have said that both will premiere below 2.0, but that would have been the case if they occupied the 8-9pm timeslots. As weak as DWTS is this year, I still think it will be enough to boost both comedies above 2. Though not by much. I wish they had stayed on Wednesdays in the 10-11pm hour!!

  • Bunny

I went to the Happy Endings facebook page and they posted the new pic of Jane and Brad kissing and was surprised by these racist comments calling it “gross”

  • Jenny

I hate posting these numbers. It’s such a difficult night.

But Happy Endings 2.1, and Apt 23 1.8

  • luisl

    2.0 or less.
