'The Mob Doctor's' Timeslot Taken By 'The Following' In January-- Does That Mean It's Finally Canceled? (Poll)

As you may have noticed, The Mob Doctor's timeslot is currently occupied by The Following in FOX's winter premiere announcement. So does that mean that the show has been canceled? The release doesn't say it outright, but considering The Mob Doctor has been on death watch for quite some time, could this be the announcement we've all been waiting for? Or is The Mob Doctor determined to stay on life support, despite its flagging vital signs? Cast your vote and tell us why in the comments!

Haa, I’m waiting for it to come back to an .07 after the baseball hiatus.

  • Jeff (Canada)

It’s not a direct ‘cancellation’, but more of a ‘we’ll probably air all of its episodes and then not speak of it again’ from Fox.

  • JC

It’s getting the Bionic Woman treatment. Instead of a writer’s strike there is baseball. When the hiatus ends it just wont come back and Fox can pretend it never aired.

(and I actually liked the show)

  • Dan

Its obviously cancelled (and will probably air all of its episodes in December), but FOX is just not saying so.

“Its obviously cancelled (and will probably air all of its episodes in December), but FOX is just not saying so.”

Of course! But like Jeopardy, we like to rephrase the headline in the form of a question! ;)

I actually went with the last option. It’s been a crazy tv season so far, so I don’t know. Maybe Fox executives really are on drugs and decide to send it to fridays or even better, to follow Amerian Idol ahah. That would be so funny, this site would explode!

  • Tom

It was clearly cancelled after episode two.

The surprise was that they would film and air the rest of the order, which can mainly be chalked up to lack of available filler.

  • Ian

I don’t see anything new in this. Wasn’t this the plan as early as upfronts?

“I don’t see anything new in this. Wasn’t this the plan as early as upfronts?”

You mean, was the plan to air 13-ish episodes of The Mob Doctor and then forget it ever existed?

    Of course not.

The Following premiering of Mob Doctor’s time slot doesn’t mean that that show is responsible for Mob Doctors cancellation, it just means Fox didn’t give the show a full season order, so they needed a mid season replacement.
However, Mob Doctor will be cancelled, because the ratings are bad, which is also why they didn’t get a full season pickup.

I’m confused to what you all say cancelled is ? – the show is NOT cancelled or will it be ! It might not go a second season but it will Show all 13 – what i think is happening here is people don’t want to admit their wrong ! So they justify it by saying they’re gonna burn through these episodes – you guys don’t make sense ! It’s too bad you guys didn’t watch it – you misses out on a good show – btw – they are now filming episode 9 and prepping for 10 – let’s all be big boys and get over it and Admit you were wrong – thanks

  • merranga

you also seem to be confused about basic grammar and sentence structure.

I think it was widely expected that Mob Dr would get replaced by The Following. I mean where else were they going to schedule it ? Fox could just be playing with everyone’s head & wait until May to officially say its kaput.

  • Jon23812

@jcc, if Fox airs all 13 episodes and doesn’t give it a new season, it’s cancelled. If Fox tells the Mob Doctor producers that they would not renew them, before they finish filming the episodes, then it isn’t cancelled, because the producers of the show will be allowed to make a satisfying ending.

“Fox could just be playing with everyone’s head & wait until May to officially say its kaput.”

Most likely, as usual like any other network, is that Fox will say nothing.

“I’m confused to what you all say cancelled is ?”

Canceled is not getting another season.

Mob Doctor is not getting another season.

    Mob Doctor is canceled.

Tried to break it down for you.

  • DW

its not going to be coming back for november sweeps. i can also see a one and done they play it after the world series and drop it.

  • Kevin Somerhalder

FOX already announced the November return, so yeah, it IS coming back for November sweeps.

  • Jcc

It’s very convenient to say a show would be cancelled if after their original season order of 13 was not pick upped – that’s common sense ! But that’s not what you said ! – you and others have been saying that it would be cancelled after 2 then 3 then 4 episodes and it wasn’t ! There’s a big difference don’t you think ? – bill – it’s all on record what was said ! just admit it – it’s ok – also I wonder if who ever named a person merrange knew basic grammar ?

I vote the second option. It will get a syndication deal. ;-) It’s sold overseas, its % of DVR numbers are good, it’s in a though timeslot – c’mon, against The Voice, Football, and CBS comedies-, it’s a new show which just need time to develop a fanbase, it hired a famous actor to guest-starred in it, hence Fox believes in the project and will support it. :-)
