Well very sad for the ratings of happy endings and apartment 23, I really live them especially happy endings which is one of my favorites, it’s so great and hopefully it goes up, also sad about PP being down, have they started promoting it as the final season, and love parenthood and glad it is winning its timeslot, it went up .2 from its lead in

I think they should try the comedies at 10. Apartment 23 is likely to do worse starting at a 10h30 hour but Happy Endings at 10 should work well enough so that the average of the hour is higher. ABC’s problem, of course is the lack of shows to hold a 9pm hour on Tuesday. Working with what I have, the moves I would do at this point:

Tuesday (Go old skewing, but at least compatible and a 2.0 demo could be in the horizon, which is not at this moment)
    8Last Man Standing
    8h30 Malibu Country
    9h DWTS Results
    10h Private Practice

Wednesday (happy endings will fare better without comedy competition from similar skewing shows. And it’s so young skewing, it should fare well enough at 10h… Also, i think it could go actually better with suburgatory than with modern family)
    8h Middle
    8h30 Neighbours
    9h Modern Family
    9h30 Suburgatory
    10h Happy Endings
    10h30 Apartment 23

Thursday (nashville is screaming for grey’s help at this point, even though i dont like the show)
    8h Last Resort
    9h Grey’s Anatomy
    10h Nashville

    Samw as they are now

Sunday (scandal just fits with revenge. i love both, and the theme is similar. the same way the theme of ouat and revenge is simiarl, though not on the surface)
    8 Once Upon a Time
    9 Revenge
    10 Scandal

All consistent night in themes and audiences, except for Last Resort, but there are only so many moves they can make (Of course I know that they won’t make all these moves, but it would make soo much more sense)

NBC would be wise to launch a new comedy Tuesday at 9. Go On bleeds way too much.

I think NBC should move Go On to 9h30 at midseason so that it still gets the voice exposure but launch 1600 Penn at 9h00. New Normal should move.

  • John A

You would think HE would do a bit better being behind MF almost all last season.

  • Oliver

Be interesting to see if TNN rebounds next week without The X Factor. Its ratings are slowly but surely eroding into danger territory and it’s losing almost a third of a solid lead-in.

Its low retention may make NBC consider moving it at mid-season to see if one of its replacement can perform any better, which won’t help matters.

    @ Dennis

Those are preseason estimates. Now that actual ratings are coming in, the ad rates will be renegotiated.

Don’t trust the b in 23 had its best episode last night.

Abc has a lot of problems this year which will make renewals interesting. Even though CBS has fallen it has fallen almost consistently. Abc and fox are going to have a lot of interesting decisions to make.

Ben and Kate is the baseball of sitcoms.

  • Leondre

I know I’ve already said this but please watch SVU’s 300 episode tonight at 9/8c

  • Kyle

The New Normal is the alarming one here.

Also Go On has BAD retention out of The Voice.

Sad about Apt23 but I have faith it stays around these levels.

  • marc

In what alternative universe is Last Man Standing getting a 2.0?

  • eridapo

Lets all be honest, ABC’s problems with their preseason schedule stem from the weakness of DWTS. ABC never imagine DWTS tanking as much as it has. They were expecting the show to still generate audiences in the 3s to act as lead-in support for Monday and Tuesday.

Had DWTS remained in the 3s is possible that the Comedy block would have premiered in the mid 2s. The weakness of DWTS has hurt ABC and cripple its attempt to launch a comedy block.

  • Samunto

Am thinking that LMS would do better Tuesdays at 9. Sure a multi cam block will surely skew older esp in 18-34 but it would probably do around the same numbers in 18-49.

Now that drop for Go On ain’t good.

  • JJA

Emily Owens will NOT get a back 9, but the CW may just continue to air its 13 initial episodes. So maybe Emily Owens will be treated more like LUX, rather than The Beautiful Life.

  • adanskii

    Go the voice!!!

  • Kyle

Yes DWTS has dropped BIG but they have been constant at these levels. It hasn’t dipped below a 2 this season yet.

ALSO if you look at past attempts to start other shows after DWTS I remember they showed some episodes of Cougar Town and Better with You even with DWTS in the 4’s at that time. They could only generate a 2.0-2.2 which isn’t a big step up

  • BKO

@Dennis Supernatural attracts a more male viewership than The CW’s other shows. Advertisers pay more to market to women.

  • Bern

Wish that Happy Endings was still airing after Modern Family. Really enjoyed one full hour of great comedy last season.

  • SpM

I don’t know how anyone can justify Hart of Dixie’s flopping. A 0.5 rating and only 1.3 million viewers THREE episodes into a second season is absolutely absymal no matter what way you look at it.

Hart of Dxie doesn’t deserve a full 22 episode second season let alone a third (which it certainly won’t be getting)

  • Wendy

Shrug, as I said in the other Tuesday post, I knew Go On would adjust down. It always does. I agree the retention from The Voice is not great, but if the barometer in terms of keeping shows is to focus on how other shows on the same network are doing, Go On is still a (very modest) success by that criteria.

Will it *keep* bleeding is the question. That said, its adjusted numbers (over the past few weeks) seem to have stabilized, so who knows.
