What is happening to the networks?
Are people just not interested in watching?
    Do people rather watch cable?
Is everyone watching online now (or DVR)?
    All the above?

  • ann

I expect Emily Owens to be gone by January.

I agree with your opinion on the talent. It’s all about The Voice.

  • aiden

@Leelee mediocre “talent ur crazy jajajajajajaja u wish that jajaja the talent on x factor is amazing carly has an amazing voice, they are so amazing! i know now that you don’t know nothing about talent oooh i forgot that you watch the voice now i understand LOL

American Idol will easily beat the rest of the reality shows. A 4.3 for The Voice is pretty pathetic. American Idol in their second year was getting 31 Million and a 15 rating.

    Ouch Vegas :(

    Happy Endings

ABC keeps bombing on Tuesdays with comedies. They would have been better off renewing “V” which had better ratings in the demo!. I love it. Suck it Paul Lee!!

“Ooops, seems like Nikita will be renewed. Thanks Emily Owens!”

After taking some criticism, I found an article that Mr. Gorman posted last month stating that television programs do indeed compete for renewal with their counterparts. Mia culpa. However, I wonder how far that theory applies to the CW where all but about three programs have or will shortly sink to roughly the same atrocious ratings. The fact that 0.3 rated EO bites the dust doesn’t explain why 3.0 rated Nikita would survive. The likelihood of Nikita being syndicated would seemingly have more influence on its continuity than ratings. So there goes the ratings theory. I also haven’t heard a coherent reason to explain why HOD received a second season or why B&B shouldn’t be cancelled after losing 0.5 demo points in one week. The best I can come up with is that adhering to the rule of dropping the lowest rated show(s) would strip the CW of most of its programs. CBS may have a practice of annually cancelling its lowest rated comedy show, but the range of ratings among those comedies is more widely dispersed and considerably higher than anything on the CW. So, let’s be realistic. Whatever the criterion for cancelling the plethora of low rated CW shows might be, it definitely isn’t defined by considerations of how one show’s substandard ratings compare to the other programs.

IDK, i think ABC just set themselves up to fail….DWTS and HE and A23 make for the most mix-matched 8-10pm block on ABC’s schedule (followed very closely by Last Resort/Greys). ABC has some good shows…but the scheduling of them is questionable to me sometimes…

Everyone kept saying XFActor was a recap episode but this is a quote here suggesting otherwise: “Tonight at 9:30 PM EST on Fox is an all new episode of “The X Factor USA”. This will be the conclusion of the episode that aired last week, but got butchered by the big wigs over at the network. The final sixteen competitors for the live shows were set to be revealed last week, but due to the baseball game, we did not get to view the entire episode of the show. In case you’ve missed the show”

From that it seems it was only a partial recap with it revealing the rest of the finalists. The article said what happened last week: “The rain delay in the game caused the network to cut to snippets of “The Mindy Project” in the middle of “The X Factor”, so we weren’t able to catch the rest of the selected parties. As of most recently, we’ve heard that the show was scrambling to throw together a full hour episode for tonight.”

Didn’t watch it so I’m not sure but from above it appears it wasn’t a recap episode at all. I’d reserve judgment on both 9:30 comedies to see how they do against a show with less total viewers like The Mindy Project.

@ Aiden: You’re damn right I watch The Voice. And I stand behind what I say about the talent on The Voice TRUMPING the X-Factor talent…anyday. And incase you missed it, check the ratings booboo, I’m not alone on that. The rest of the country agrees. *blows kiss*

@Flummoxed no I think the point of advertisers paying more for young men is because they don’t watch as much television as women, so when a show pulls in a large young male demographic, advertisers love it because it’s so hard to reach those young men, hence why they pay more for them.

    You are PATHETIC!!!

If FLOP FACTOR had better talent, then why can’t it attract viewers as the rating suggests

Boom! You lost! You were just insanely driven by your FLOP FACTOR fanaticism.

No amount of badmouthing at The Voice can ever change the fact that The Voce beats it on any given night! Deal with it!~ :)

Is DWTS making Happy Endings older skewing or something it has more viewers then all the other comedies besides Go On and yet New Girl is 8 tenths higher. Huh???? I wish Abc had a younger skewing reality show.

  • ronnie

Apartment 23 will be very much enjoyed by fans of 2 broke girls.pls watch this.
The new normal is also very good.
Why are they both airing at the same time!!
    Emily Owens should go rightaway.
Dear Cw,pls give a shortened season to Ringer.
We never found out what happened to Malcolm and if Bridget could forgive Siobhan for her evil plans. Also Siobhan never got her life back.So many unanswered questions.
We at ‘Save ringer’ are trying to bring back the show.we hope we will.

@forg, I agree with you. LMS and Malibu Country would of done decently in the 8pm hour. I feel they would at least match the demo number that DWTS is receiving now. DWTS:result would then do better in the 9pm hour as it always does. And it would help being away from The Voice. Lastly, Private Practice would at least remain in the high 1’s. Body of Proof was really competitive in the 10pm hour versus Parenthood. That show would have garnered a larger viewership as well. Private Practice should of been held for midseason to replace DWTS:result show until March.

Lastly, the 8pm hour is really competitive. I am happy that Raising Hope is staying consistent. It may do better once DWTS:result is over. ABC is going to be in trouble if they decide to debut two new comedies in that hour come midseason. Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B… could fall even furthur.

@Bob you cant compare the Voice in 2012 with Idol in 2003, it was a different time in TV and several shows were getting around 25-30 million viewers. 25 millions in 2003 probably would have meant 15 million in 2012.

  • BigBrotherFan

ABC need to cancel NEIGHBOURS STAT
Pull Subergatory and put it at 8:30pm Wed
Insert Happy ENDINGS AT 9:30 had a better retention
Also, around 40% of Happy Endings epiosdes last season did NOT air after an orginal MODERN FAMILY.
I like Dont Trust the B…But I am still confused as to why it was renewed with those numbers last season.
