GH is actually not up for characters, its up for the quality of the show. It’ll be alright without Steve and now that AJ is back it’ll go up even more during Sweeps.

It’s amazing how much work GH is doing on its own growing big time out of The Chew, it went from 2.3 to 2.9 on Monday last week.

As for DAYS I like what their doing with their younger couples Will and Sonny and Nick & Gabi its very sweet and innocent. The older characters on the other hand are written just terribly.

  • MBmomof3

@cassrowland, I’m with Chrisann on the ABC boycott thing. Started as a boycott and I still will only watch GH on ABC. I actually watch almost NO network TV but soaps.

  • Sophie

I’ve been boycotting NBC since they fired Ann Curry. And about 5 castmembers from Days. I don’t like the way they treat people. Bo leaves this week, so Days will probly go down in the ratings. I love SB from GH but I love all the characters on GH. I don’t think Steve B leaving will hurt. They have alot of couples that I LOVE! GO GH, keep climbing up!

  • NBC is awesome

I think the new writer and EP on Gh suck. They are ruining this show. Garin Wolf was doing a fantastic joe, about a year ago. then they shot it all to hell. I’ll watch this show right up until the end, which is near if this is the direction Gh is headed.

  • Kayla Rae

Good job, Days! Keep up the great work! Numbers improving!

  • Stacy

Rumor has it that MB (Sonny) might be leaving GH. I don’t think GH can afford to lose more long time actor’s.

  • Ashley

MB/Sonny leaving would only help GH in the demo. Most younger viewers can’t stand Sonny and too much of the show is focused on him.

  • Kayla Rae

Oh, Sophie, get over stinkin’ Ann Curry already! She deserved to go…waste of space. Your boycotting NBC means nothing in the scheme of things.

I think Days is doing a fantastic job all the way around.

  • Mike

Excellence continues to produce results. GH’s numbers prove the change in EP/Head Writer is the primary reason for the ratings gain. Merge of the OLTL characters obviously has not hurt the show. Our worries about GH going beyond their 50th anniversary become less and less each week!! I’m grateful ABC invested in their last soap. They didn’t have to.

I hope Maurice Bernard does not leave. I’d love to see what the writers do with him. GH is so regularly exciting every week now. It’s now must see TV and I know it’s going to take the number 2 spot, sooner than we think!!

  • Sophie

Hey Kayla, I just think they could have given her a better send off. Like a cake or something. It’s like they threw her out the door. The ratings for the today show are down, and GMA is beating them. Plus I don’t like how they let Bo, Jack, Carrie, and Austin go at Days. So I’ve been boycotting. Same with alot of people for ABC. But GH is the best I’ve seen in years, and the ratings show it. AND I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Kayla Rae

Love the gay couple of Will and Sonny on Days….they are wonderful…and so HOT!

  • Kayla Rae

Ann Curry has plenty of time to eat cake now so let’s leave that behind us, ok?

I still find little of interest on GH. But Days is rockin’ it, for sure!

  • Kayla Rae

It would be a mercy if GH dumped lame-o Sonny!

  • Elegance

November Sweeps are the best of the sweeps periods, sometimes February can be better but man a lot of these soaps are going to be watchable everyday.

I wish DAYS would do another Salem Serial Killer storyline, that was real spinetingly stuff.

  • ebarryhill

I’m very happy for GH and it’s new teams of OLTL writer, producers. Key thing to remember, and I thought it was very smart of them, they retained a lot of the old writing staff because they knew these characters. I’m a longtime soap fan, and regimes come and go, and I’ve seen shows ruined by wiping out history and character(s). I knew the new team would be a good fit, and the proof is in the numbers. Yeah, there’s still a lot of bitching about the OLTL crossover (overblown and whiny), and impatient fans who kvetch about everything. There will be a ratings drop off, because it always happens. November sweeps is coming and I know RC will have a lot of surprises. GH has a long way to go to solidify itself as a 50 yr plus mainstay on ABC, even though it looks good right now. It’s an expensive show to produce. I just wish the hysteria would stop. IT’S A SOAP! If you don’t like what’s going now, wait, it will change. That’s the nature of soaps. People act like they don’t understand how soaps work. It’s melodrama, and if everybody was happy, you’d be bored to death. I starting watching GH in 1978. I started watching OLTL even earlier. I love the merged stories and casts. GH is energized now in a way that it hasn’t been in years. People have been extraordinarly mean about “Tea” overacting, but who wasn’t moved by her pain? At the same time, (I know people will lose their minds me saying this) Florencia”s “Tea” acted rings around Kelly “Sam” Monaco. Still the actors seems to be relishing the chance to do good (different) writing. GH is still an ocean liner of a show to steer, and the new team still has a lot to do to get her “righted” and sailing smoothly. They’ve gotten rid of a bunch of people, I predicted that would be gone. There are still a few left. They needed to reestablish the core Quartermaine clan, especially with the loss of Edward and now Jason. It has been nice to see Monica back in action, and Tracy is always a delight. PLEASE BRING DAVID VICKERS ON FOR TRACY! They would be hysterically funny together. There’s still the Todd/victor Storyline to deal with, John/Natalie & baby story, Robin’s alive story, Edwards death, etc. There will be tears and laughter to be sure. FV and RC also have said they would love to have Genie Francis back. she is my prediction for February sweeps. It will take a while to fashion a story for her that will make her happy (not to play Laura as a victim anymore). They also want Jonathan Jackson “Lucky” back, but we’ll see if they can manage it. I’m really enjoying the diversity on GH now. It’s not just the Sonny/Jason/Carly show. Let’s just be glad we still have it, and celebrate every twist and turn of one of daytime’s finest.

  • dante

I want them to make Liz and Dr. Britt an evil team on GH that’ll be great right there.

  • Chrisann D

ebarryhill, Oh how funny! David Vickers and Tracy! I would love that! This is just my opinion but GH has really never been better.

Kayla, So glad you are enjoying Days. Me too. We are very fortunate to have such good drama during the day! Hope it continues for years to come!

  • Sophie

Ebarryhill greta post… And good luck to all 4 remaining soaps. I hope the ratings keep going up!

  • Rick

ebarryhill, CBS soap watcher here. Have no opinion on GH as I have never watched it.

Just wanted to comment on your post to say that they kept none of the writing team from GH. They fired all of them and replaced them with mostly OLTL writers.

Many of the old GH writers are now working for the other 3 soap operas.

  • Jo

If DOOL is doing so great why are they in last place? I think it is so boring now.
