'Mockingbird Lane:' Does It Have a Pulse Now? (Poll)

NBC decided to pass on Mockingbird Lane after seeing the pilot, but having spent so much money on the pilot, decided to air it anyway. The premise being that by airing it they at least recover some of the millions they spent on the pilot. HitFix's Alan Sepinwall refers to the airings of passed-on pilots as "Busted Pilot Theater" which used to happen more frequently.

Regardless of anyone trying to spin it as a test run, the reasonable conclusion is it was "Busted Pilot Theater" and nothing more. But the preliminary 1.5 adults 18-49 rating for Mockingbird Lane outperformed originals of Blue Bloods and CSI: NY as well as the premiere of Kitchen Nightmares (which it aired directly against) and served as a decent lead-in to Grimm (which was up 27% from last week.).

For me, the reasonable conclusion still is "Busted Pilot Theater" and that its performance last night doesn't mean NBC will be scrambling to figure out how to start the series back up. But if nothing else this will add a log on the fire of "look, people want something different see 'The Walking Dead,' 'American Horror Story' and 'Grimm!'"

Although it is doubtful the show will be picked up for more episodes, with NBC, you never know. I thought it was a great remake of the original Munsters, from its dark humor, effects and cast, to the Munsters theme woven into the music. A really fun, horror show. And Honey Badger must not have much of a life to spend so much time commenting on a show he/she dislikes so much.

It did well b/c of it being the last weekend before Halloween.

Don’t bring it back! If anything – re-air the original series.

Hatted it the munsters would be turning over in there graves. itt should of given warnings how yucky it was not funny herman looked like jack lalane jjust didnt think the munsters.

I thought it was well done. Much better than most of the procedural crap that gets high ratings. I’d take Mockingbird Lane and shows like Treme, Justified, Sons of Anarchy etc. over CSI (yawn) ZZZZzzzz

I thoroughly enjoyed Mockingbird Lane. Bryan Fueller cannot catch a break. His writing is consistant. His creativity is above the average writers and his humor is dark and witty. Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies really never got the chance they deserved and all three have huge cult followings.

I really hope NBC catches a clue and pairs this as a Friday creature feature with Grimm. This is not a 1-2-3 sitcom. This is a series that has tons of room for development and stories upon stories. For that Matter, MockingBird Lane at 8 pm, then Grimm at 9, and then Lecter at 10. NBC would have Fridays locked. Look at what is on ABC and CBS at those times – nothing that any true geek would watch.

I hope they pick this show up. I loved it and my daughters (10 & 6) loved ittoo.I was a fan of the original, but I like the revamping.

It was very funny. Its not for everyone but my wife and I enjoyed this show.

Having jumped the gun in creating the Mockingbird Lane Wiki I’ve got a dog in this fight. Don’t be a dog-killer, NBC!

It makes me so mad! it was created by Bryan Fuller who created Dead Like Me(fantastic) and Pushing Daisies(even more fantastic) and those shows didn’t do very well at first, but once they were pulled off of the air, everyone got angry and said they wanted more episodes. They became cult classics and I can definitely see this becoming one as well. NBC spent so much money building the house and producing the pilot and now they’re going to pull the episode?? come on guys! give it a chance!!!!

I saw the preview on Ellen and made it a point to put my son to bed early and go into another room while my husband watched smack down so that I could watch mockingbird lane. I was looking for it again tonight. Grimm was pretty good too for the first time I’ve ever watched it

I have to fence sit here. It did well in my opinion. But its sort of close to halloween too. Try it again and see.

  • Martine

On the other hand, I would probably watch it.

I like your idea with this lineup of shows for Fridays.

Loved Mockingbird Lane with the exception of Jerry McConnell as Herman. In MY opinion it was bad casting (i.e. Rob Lowe as Drew Peterson HAH!) At least someone taller than Lilly and perhaps a little clumsy. But the special effects were great. And everyone else fit their alter egos prefectly.

  • David

Mockingbird Lane held me spell bound. I never laughed so hard as I did at the Eddie Izzard character. The special effects and dark humor were a refreshing change from the NBC reality stuff like don trump who I detest. I am sixty three years of age and my wife and I loved everything about the show. It was shockingly funny. The set and Munster Home were exceptional. Every Friday, we look at the TV guide on the set hoping to find Mockingbird lane. Please no more Trump, Shark Tank, and cheap TV. I don’t know how many more years I will have.

I loved the pilot, it was amazing and I want it to stay on the air. The show I thought was soooooo cool and Had many of my favorite actors included in it. It was a charming little spinoff that should be continued.

  • mike hogsett

The show was funny and dark but not so dark that you didn’t care about characters.

  • B. Lattus

I really enjoyed it and hope it is aired again.

I think Mockingbird Lane would make my friday nights complete. I have loved The Munsters ever since I was a little girl. This new show has a very interesting twist to it and I have been waiting for the next episode. Please don’t scape it. I’m really sick of all these reality shows. They suck. I want something different.
