'The Neighbors,' 'Scandal' Given Full Season Orders By ABC

Freshman sitcom The Neighbors and sophomore drama Scandal have both been given full season orders by ABC. Originally, both shows had 13 episode orders for this season, which is typical for a freshman show, but unusual for a sophomore show.

Both shows are currently predicted as "toss up" for renewal or cancellation by the Renew / Cancel Index and have attracted some notice from the Cancellation Bear, but he's patient, and can wait until May if they're ultimately heading for his dinner table.

To try and get in front of the comments, no news on Last Resort or 666 Park Avenue. Why should there be? They're doomed.

And Nashville has only aired three episodes (and is doing OK), any full season news will likely come before Thanksgiving.

Yay, The Neighbors! I just love that show, funny as hell. Kudos to Scandal as well.

I have not watched the neighbours (although I admit I am curious) but so YAY for scandal! I love that show so much and i was fearing for it! Now, if only they would move it to the much more compatible sunday… I know moving hurts, but i think this would be an exception to the rule

I’ll catch up with SCANDAL on Netflix.

I don’t watch The Neighbors but congratz to both shows. I love it when the underdog comes out on top. Suck it haters!

    where’s stupid max?

  • richard

i suppose max will be off the wall for scandal. i dont watch either show, but its good for fans of these shows, even if they dont make it another season, at least they get to finish out these ones.

  • marcos

happy for neighbors. I’m really diggin it

commenter (and former “Chuck” hand) “Paul 80″ called the Neighbors pickup in the comments yesterday. But, he has inside sources!

  • Greg

I knew Scandal would receive a back 9.

ABC will probably wait a couple more weeks before giving a back 9 for Nashville and I still expect additional episodes for Last Resort.

I’m excited for Scandal! I just hope Shonda doesn’t slow it down and give us too many filler episodes. They have had us on our seats since the start and I don’t want her to slow down.

Just curious, does this mean bad news for Last Resort and Park Slope? I know they tend to put these all out around the same time or at least within the same days.

Do you think this could spell bad news for the other two shows? I’m just curious because I caught Last Resort on demand and I freaking love it! I know its outlook doesn’t look good but I hope it doesn’t go!!

It is not everyone’s cup of tea obviously, but I just think that The Neighbors is so funny and sweet at the same time. I spend half the time giggling at the so not so subtle dick jokes and going “awww” over the love and kindness for friends and family that is pervasive throughout the show.

    Both ABC Studio produced shows.

Just saw your comment for Last Resort and Park Slope, that sucks but Nashville has a few weeks or so. If they hits the 6 or 7th episode and we get no news, I think it might be time to worry but I’m sure they will be fine!

  • SJ

Boo to both. Easily the two worst shows on ABC. Can’t wait til they’re both gone. But this was hardly unexpected.

I hope Apartment 23 gets four more episodes to sync up with Happy Endings. Nashville should get a back-9 or 11 pretty soon too.

Those of you waiting for news on Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue, you’re gonna be waiting a long time and my bet is, you’re not gonna like what’s coming.

I’m happy to hear people are changing their tune on the Neighbors. Remember it was that kind of attitude towards television that made 90′s sitcoms so great. People back then didn’t take tv so seriously and those sitcoms didn’t take themselves so seriously either. That’s why shows like ALF and Dinosaurs thrived. That’s the type of tv environment that is sorely needed today.

  • SJ

    @Bookworm

You sure do love changing titles of shows, don’t you? Last season it was Apartment 2B and this season it’s Park Slope.

  • SarahL

It does seem like The Neighbors is acquiring more fans at TVBTN. I remember the avalanche of insults and attacks that I and a couple others were subjected to when we posted that we liked the show after the pilot.

  • Jeff R

The Neighbors has won me over. Glad to see this news!

  • gary

fantastic Scandal back nine!!! Go scandal!!! season 3 is coming

  • Bookworm

    @SJ
The show is irrelevant but I guess I’m confusing it with the name Park Slope because I live in NYC and they were giving us some huge warnings about areas and my boyfriend lives in Park Slope and was supposed to be leaving soon. No word yet so maybe that’s why it is on my mind.

But Park Slope/Avenue–either way, I think it might be done.

Oh and eat your heart out about Scandal!
