Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

“Is that number accurate 27.99 million viewers for The 7:00 PM Fox Sunday Football that is unreal it crushed The Sunday Night game and that’s usually the highest rated of the night.”

That 27.99m number is subject to revision, but the late afternoon NFL games are higher rated than the Sunday night game all the time.

  • LT

Why are people so worried about Max? I’m glad his comments don’t get blocked. I find everyone getting upset amusing.

Btw Congrats @Bill Gorman on the Giants sweep. I’m a bitter Cards fan but i give credit when it’s due. Hopefully we meet again in the playoffs.

  • Steve-A

OMG. REVENGE FANS! I SEE WHY YOU LIKE THIS SHOW NOW. IM CATCHING UP ON NETFLIX AND ITS GREAT!!

  • Mrs Florrick

Hoping my show gets adjusted up to a 1.9. We need another season! These numbers are shaky.

  • kul65

I know it’s been said before, but I can’t believe this system! The Mentalist has the most viewers of all scripted shows for the night, yet it performs second to worst of all in what really matters. It’s messed up!

There. Now everyone can cross that excuse off their bingo card.

I just hope CBS find it in their hearts to give the show another time slot instead of cancelling it. 9PM on Fridays or even 9PM on Sunday. The ratings would be right back up in the middle 2:s.

If CBS made their decisions based on total viewers instead of the 18-49 demo, it wouldn’t help The Mentalist as it is still near the bottom compared to their other dramas.

It’s irrelevant how it is performing compared to shows on other networks.

  • DD

FOX, Turner and ESPN paid 13 billion dollars over eight years for the US TV rights for MLB, starting in 2014. I don’t think it’s worth that much if their championship game can’t dominate over mid-season NFL games or even just regularly scheduled dramas.

  • SMG4E

I used to be a big fan of Revenge. Not anymore. The show totally and completely sucks now. I have no idea what’s happening anymore. Here’s to hoping its ratings plummet and we’re spared from a third season.

  • nate garner

I think revenge is an awesome show it can be a little complicated at times but it keeps me wanting more. Also more people should watch nikita I think it is a very good show!

  • eridapo

Reports indicate 3+ Million without power so far….

    NYC has lost power….

  • eridapo
  • Bobby

I am really surprised that 666 is as low as it is. I mean LOST’s FB promoted it so much with Terry O’Quinn…..What happened? Is it really because people were turned off by the name 666 Park Ave? If people are THAT superstitious…..how do people watch movies like the exorcist and crazy-violent tv shows on other channels??

  • upol

    The mentalist is doomed

  • Joseph

@Bobby maybe they should have called it 666 Flop Avenue! XD

  • Stefan

    Friday cable finals?

  • MeMe

Why does it have to be Revenge vs Scandal on here? I like both and they are both really good shows. All I see on here is comments pitting Revenge and Scandal against each other. Why? they both are on the same network. People on here are acting like these show are on rival networks. Revenge does have one thing over Scandal and that is promotion. Revenge was promoted a lot by ABC and Scandal was not for real. Also Revenge does better in the ratings. I hope Scandal will have better ratings one day. Besides that I love both shows. They are both very very good. I enjoy them both and hope neither one is cancelled.

  • MeMe

Somebody said something a about GCB. I think GCB was a very good show and felt bad it was cancelled.

Really? So it doesn’t matter if a show wins its time slot at all? If all the other shows on that network get more viewers by comparison, a network will just drop the lower-performing ones from their lineup to clean house, is that it? I wasn’t aware of this. I always thought it was a good thing when a show was #1 in its time slot consistently.

  • Holly

    @Suzy Q,

So it doesn’t matter if a show wins its time slot at all?

Nope. I mean, no network wants to come in last in a time slot, but NBC isn’t going to cancel Chicago Fire just for that reason. And CBS has canceled shows winning their timeslots more than once.

  • Ultima

    @SuzyQ
If all the other shows on that network get more viewers by comparison, a network will just drop the lower-performing ones from their lineup to clean house, is that it?

Networks want/need to premiere new shows every fall, so they have to cancel the least valuable veteran shows in order to make room on the schedule.
