Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    that show skews old. lol

    You’ve just described 90% of the shows on CBS.

  • madbengalsfan85

    A 9.8 demo for Giants/Cowboys on FOX…WOW!!!

  • Aj

    What is up with Max and his hatred for Revenge? Because it is a great show! Once upon a time and Revenge!

  • eridapo

    @ ron,

    Revenge was down to a 2.6 in the second half. There may be a downward adjustment of a tenth in the finals due to possible OUAT overrun of a minute.

  • Petar Ivanov

    @eridapo

    Thanks.

  • Ultima

    @Bob
    Max is predictable and boring

    Also predictable and boring are the dozens of repsonses his one post manages to fish out every week.

  • The End

    @JAA

    98 percent of people affected won’t be tracked by Nielsen anyway. The impact of this event is pretty insignificant on the numbers, even the ones received on Sunday.

    These numbers are pretty much, near enough the same as they are every week.

  • Doug

    What Revenge needs to do is slow the hell down. From the look of the preview for next week, they will have just about crammed an entire season into 6 episodes.

  • Michael

    “Hurricane Sandy” going to be popular with Fan Excuse Bingo?

  • Just

    Unlike those Shonda dramas that no one cares about, Revenge are certain to be renewed

    xx

  • PV

    CBS should cancel The Mentalist and give The Good Wife a final season and move it to fridays.

  • TV Host

    The Voice isn’t live. It’s on its knock out rounds for 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays)this week.

    The live shows will follow next week. Almost the same period as that of The X Factor.

    The X Factor show this week isn’t a repeat!
    Why are people claiming this? They said the same thing this week.
    Have you even watched the show?

  • r0ckmypants

    @Jeff – A lot of people have been “warning” about the complex plot(s) this season on Revenge, that it’ll turn off viewers, make the show hard to follow, etc. But it’s higher rated than it was at the same point last season (2.7 and 8.05 million viewers vs. 2.5 and 7.94 million viewers). So I don’t know if that argument holds much water.

    8O

    I don’t even know where to start.

  • Tony ^_^

    Based on these preliminaries and the ratings this past week, is FOX going to be the #1 network in Week 5? Or will it still be NBC? Thoughts?

  • Mi

    @eridapo
    It might be adjusted down but it might also be adjusted up. Half hour data doesn’t say much on the final.

    I’m glad Once and Revenge did well, and wish 666 did better. It’s just a title people.. o_O

  • PV

    By the way, will season 2 of Unforgettable air on tuesday nights?

  • LT

    Wow at 8:00 WS was really high. The Giants Cowboys viewers must have forgot to change the channel. Then it drops a lot at 9:00. But still it will probably be good ratings maybe 15 million in the finals. Good way to close out.

  • eridapo

    @ TV Host

    Check your schedule. Today and Wednesday are repeats per Fox. Thursday will be a new show.

  • Tony ^_^

    @Doug: But then fans will complain about the show being too slow. And if the ratings go down, they will say that the slow pace is ruining the show.
