Ratings for freshman drama Emily Owens, M.D. started low, and went even lower in its second week. It's now likely to be canceled.
How can Nikita with absolutely "look away" bad ratings be "likely to be renewed"? The pull of a fourth season for syndication purposes is one of the strongest forces in the TV universe. Read more about it here.
Because the folks at the CW seem to like short final seasons for their veteran shows, 90210 could be renewed for a 13 episode final season next year, even with its terrible ratings, that's why it's just a "toss up" for cancellation or renewal. They could certainly re-ealuate their penchant for short final seasons if schedule time next season gets tight though. Read more about it here.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

no they shouldnt what would they replace it with? At least wait for midseason.
Cult and Carrie Diaries will do worse in ratings, especially Cult, it has a stupid and horrible premise. C. Diaries I got to admit looked OK in the promos.
what CW should do
Monday
Carrie Diaries -after GG ends
90210
Friday – the two shows could be compatible
Cult
Nikita
OR
Monday -put the two new shows on a Monday
Carrie Diaries
Cult
Friday
Nikita
90210
ANTM moved to summer airing. If the worst comes to the worst maybe they can move Owens MD to summer. You never know the show might pick up later on this fall and stabilise at 0.4-05 later on.
Nikita is really popular in china
I’m chinese ,I can tell you that.
In china,the most popular american drama is the vampire diary,the second is the big bang theory. NCIS isn’t popular
cw’s last year flop new show the secret circle was the most popluar new drama in china.some high school girls even cried for the cancellation
However,OUAT is really popular in china,so do revenge and grimm.
cw rules in china
most of young girls in china is fan of cw’s crap idol show like gossip girl ,TVD, TSC?90210,and abcF‘s pretty little lie
I’m not going to put known bad guesses down just to have another post later.
0.3, for a show in its first season, is certain to be canceled. Hell, I think it’s increasingly likely it doesn’t even get a backorder and Cult takes the slot.
After seeing the percentage gains for 90210 through DVR playback there’s no doubt in my mind that the CW will renew the series for a shortened final season.
Although Emily Owens should have been cancelled by now the CW will continue to air all episodes ordered and not give the series a back 9.
@Lisa
I’m not dumping on it. I’m laughing at THE RATINGS. I agree that it was put in a poor slot and perhaps doesn’t get the right support. The quality is still good but I have resignation that since the move to Friday a while back the ratings have always been poor.
The show will almost certainly survive for another full year for syndication purposes anyway so they matter not a jolt. Why can’t I laugh at a ridiculous situation whereby not enough people are watching it? I’ve listen to a number of fan podcasts are doing the same thing.
CULT is gonna do worse, even worse than nikita
@touch is dead
i’m a chinese too! agree with everything you said?
i think NCIS,CSI are nothing in China and the despised CW is the hugest thing there
From what I’ve read, CBS is the most successful network, and also the most ruthless at cutting low-rated shows. Maybe the CW needs to try some of that, and cut it out with the mercy final 13. Better to have a new show that has a chance at higher ratings than an existing show that has no chance at higher ratings.
I didn’t expect Supernatural to pull ahead of BatB already, what with its 0.7 this week, but the math adds up, 0.88 to 0.83.
The NYC CW affilitate WPIX was planning to pre-empt Arrow and Supernatural this Wednesday to air the Halloween parade, but with much of the city under water and without power (hope that changes soon) I doubt that will happen. The Chicago affilitate WGN is also pre-empting for baseball, so that would be the loss of two big markets.
Bill, do you know if the CW is going to air repeats this entire week? Or was it just yesterday.
Nikita should have 5 green smileys because it is not year that the CW gets a show to 4 seasons. Arrow will be downgraded to likely to be cancelled in by the end of February.
Seeing as no one else has said this yet:
@NikitaLover2012
The obvious problem with what you said is that Supernatural was itself on Friday for two years, right after a low-rated lead-in, and it came out the second-highest rated show on the CW.
So you can’t make the assertion Nikita would rate higher than Supernatural if not on Fridays, when Supernatural rated much higher than Nikita when Supernatural was also on Fridays.
There’s no doubt Nikita got a bad slot, but it’s the same slot Supernatural had last year and the year before.
Look Nikita got enough promotion and still does. I mean can you stop blaming the CW hell it will get a 4th season.
@Mickey It is more expensive to start a new show than to continue with an existing one.
@Mickey
CBS is hardly the most ruthless. It cancels 3 dramas and 1 sitcom almost every year. The CW doesn’t air sitcoms and usually cuts 2-3 dramas from a smaller line-up.
I think that it is usually ABC or NBC that cuts the most each year.
@NikitaLover2012 “Just full of haters cause you all know Nikita if not on Friday would rate higher than Supernatural. We should be behind Arrow! CW LEFT US THERE TO DIE!”
Ummmm — when Supernatural & Nikita were BOTH on Fridays, Supernatural was rated higher than Nikita — where’s the logic in thinking a new day would change that?
I agree, CW did leave Nikita on Fridays — the only day where it could even begin to justify its low ratings and LET IT LIVE.
If Nikita works in China, that doesn’t mean anything (I think).
I love Nikita and I think it’s the best show on “The CW” but the fact is “Nikita” is doing very bad!
“Ringer”, for example, did very well in Canada but bad in USA and it was cancelled.
Hart of Dixie should get renewed as week after week its ratings are consistent. 90210 should announce current season as last , Emily Owens OR Beauty and the Beast shouls be cancelled.
CW flop: the network must be fully renovated canceling the shows that have a poor result. Arrow definitely has a better rating but honestly I expected a greater number of viewers since the first season if it had been broadcast in the major networks would be deleted! Stephen Amell and ‘. a piece of bare wood …….
@PHIL
Except for when an aging show’s production cost outweighs the expense of starting up a new show.
