Updated: 'The Walking Dead' Viewership Up 10% In Third Episode of Season 3

Categories: Cable TV

October 30th, 2012

It wasn't quite a record, but Sunday's The Walking Dead drew 10.509 million viewers, and perhaps buoyed by Dish subscribers who were aware AMC was back in the channel lineup, was up 10% from the 9.547 million the previous week and less than 400,000 shy of the record-setting 10.872 million for the season 3 premiere on October 14.  Update: The episode drew a 5.4 adults 18-49 rating, up 6% vs. last week's 5.1.

Note: we're experiencing some (perhaps Sandy-related) delays with our normal source for the daily cable ratings, which is why the Sunday cable ratings haven't been posted as of this writing.

Probably 5.5 demo. That will certainly beat last nights monday night football snoozefest. Congrats WD! What a hit this show is.

I actually liked yesterday’s episode. For once, we saw something new and fast paced on the show in a long time. Want to know more about the Governor.

I am a DISH subscriber who was not aware AMC was back when the second episode aired. I think many DISH subscribers like me also watched episodes 1 and 2 of the third season this last Sunday, so I expect ratings for those repeated episodes to be higher.

Renewal was slightly given away by contest for walk-on role in season 4… not that a season hinges on walk-on contests… but still

This will be three straight weeks that Walking Dead has topped every network show, excluding football,in the demo. I hope that one of the cliffhanger season enders passes the 6.0 mark.
