Matt Lauer to Host
NEW YORK -- November 1, 2012 -- In response to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, the networks of NBCUniversal -- including NBC, Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, Syfy and USA – will join forces to air a one-hour live benefit telethon, “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together,” on Friday, November 2 (8-9 pm ET).
Hosted by NBC “Today” anchor Matt Lauer, the telethon will be broadcast from the New York studios of NBC at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. It will air live across the East Coast and tape-delayed on the West. Additional networks could join the broadcast of the telethon prior to airtime.
Money collected will be donated to the American Red Cross relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy.
The telethon also will be live-streamed on NBC.com.
The Event will feature performances by artists including Christina Aguilera (NBC’s “The Voice”), Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Sting, and appearances by Jimmy Fallon (NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”) and NBC News’ Brian Williams.
The American Red Cross response to Sandy is very large and will be very costly, affecting a massive area spanning much of the eastern half of the country. Financial donations help the American Red Cross provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by disasters like Hurricane Sandy. To donate, people can visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. Looking forward to Xtina’s performance.
They’re really milking this hurricane thing, huh? There goes that Revolution repeat, I guess…
Grimm is going to air at 9:00 and Revolution at 10
SJ
Revolution is taking over for Dateline tomorrow, there were at least 3-4 promos advertising The Voice and Revolution “encores” between the time i started watching 30 Rock and the time i left the house during Chicago Fire.
I don’t know why but when I saw this, all I thought about was the episode of 30 Rock where Jack made a video for every natural disaster
“I don’t know why but when I saw this, all I thought about was the episode of 30 Rock where Jack made a video for every natural disaster”
He’s initiating Operation Righteous Cowboy Lightning!!!
That is seriously probably my favorite half hour of any sitcom, EVER!
@ 1313 SVU Lane
Know a RVN fanatic who just told me the same thing earlier & he’s bummed it’s on at 10:00 but will DVR it (A 25 yr old stay home on party night? Unthinkable!). Will be interesting to see the ratings & think a 2.0 is not out of the question.
ASIDE
With the amt of damage this storm has done/will continue to do, more Nets should jump on the telethon bandwagon.
I can’t wait until TLC airs, “Hurricane Sandy Gypsy Wedding Dress Wars”.
Knew someone would do something like this, I just didn’t think it would be this quick and I also thought George Clooney would be involved somehow.
aguilara¿? LMAO, well a good thing coming out of all that desaster!
I kind of expect the President of the U.S. to make a surprise appearance. People all over the world would help us in our time of need.
Folks just donate to the RED CROSS the money will get to where it needs to go. These Celebrity funds raisers the money always seems to get lost, remember Haiti? The money raised, only a small portion got made it there the rest still out there somewhere but not where it was needed..
Looking forward to Xtina’s performance too!
I loved her powerful performance during the “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon in 2010 singing “Lift Me Up.”
Sing a new ballad and release it on iTunes, Xtina! lol
Where the the telethons for Ike, Wilma, and the 2004 Florida quartet (Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne)?
I remember Ike made coverage for the Houston damage, but nothing was ever said of Galveston’s devastation. All the attention towards Wilma was directed at the virtually unaffected Cancun. And apparently we have completely forgot what the hell happened to Florida in 2004.
When will Smackdown and, more importantly, Haven air?
Xtina, Bon Jovi, and the Boss, that’s it?

Read the story, it IS all going to The American Red Cross. And on the Today Show has said there wasn’t going to be a phone bank, just the ARC phone number.
I hope XTINA can actually use this chance to promote LOTUS
XTINA helps save the NBC, and now she needs to think for herself
Do we really need a telethon for every event that happens? Sheesh. Come on. Just give us the regular programing.
