TV Ratings Friday: 'Last Man Standing' & 'Malibu Country' Debut Strong, 'Shark Tank' Rises at 9PM, 'Grimm' Down, 'Fringe' & 'Nikita' Up

ABC was number one in adults 18-49, while CBS was on top in total viewers.

On ABC, the season premiere of  Last Man Standing garnered a 1.9 up from a 1.7 for its season finale on Tuesday May 8, 2011 but way down from a 3.6 for its series premiere. The series premiere of Malibu Country earned a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating. Your predictions were a little pessimistic. It looks like TGIF is back.  Shark Tank’s move to 9PM was a good one. It scored a series high 2.3  adults 18-49 rating up from last week’s 1.8. 20/20 notched a 1.5 up from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On NBC, the  telethon Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together,  which was simulcast on numerous cable channels, earned a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating.  Grimm notched a  1.8 adults 18-49 rating, down from last week's 2.0 adults 18-49 rating. Dateline NBC earned a 1.1, down from last week's 1.4 rating.

On FOX, Kitchen Nightmares earned a 1.0 up from last week’s 0.9. Fringe scored a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating, up from last week’s 0.9.

On CBS,  The season premiere of Undercover Boss earned a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating, up from a 1.1 for its spring season finale on May 11, 2012. CSI: NY earned a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating even with last week’s rating. Blue Bloods scored a 1.3 Adults 18-49 rating down from last week's 1.5 adults 18-49 rating.

On the CW, America’s Next Top Model garnered a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week. Nikita earned a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, up from last week's 0.2.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Shark Tank doing very nicely! These are some reasonable numbers all round for Friday.

    ABC’s two Fridays comedies rate better than their two Tuesday comedies. I wonder if ABC would consider moving them to Tuesdays, at least for the time that DWTS is on hiatus.

    For those celebrating Nikta’s .4, keep in mind it was down to a .3 at the half.

    The ratings are the same as last week, it is more than likely due to the small measurement error within the sample.

    Wow, that’s amazing for ABC. Grimm’s still strong too.

    If Nikita holds that 0.4, then it gets renewed, but I don’t know if it does. With Emily Owens failing and ANTM not coming back until summer, Nikita would have to be all allone on Fridays and that’s never good.

    Nikita probably adjust down. Wow ABC did great. Fringe up is nice to see. KN looks dead.

    And clearly Grimm is strong. And it deserved that The Voice lead in that was supposed to happen earlier this season. It deserves it waaaaay more than Chicago Fire, which Grimm has beaten for the past few weeks now and it’s on a Friday. Grimm was NBC #2 drama this week behind Revolution

    At least Nikita can say it beat EOMD, small victory?

    Those are scary good numbers for ABC. Didnt Shark Tank match DWTS, Castle? And beat lots of their comedies and Nashville.

    Finally Nikita has returned to over a million. Guess people got worried when The CW bumped it for a Top Model special.

    @The Old Woman- how is that bad for Grimm? Even if it adjusted down to a 1.7, it will still be the highest rated scripted show of the night. Keep in mind that SVU got a 1.7 and Chicago Fire got a 1.6. Nobody complains when a Friday show does better than a weekday show.
    As a side note, does anyone know if the pre-empted Revolution episode will ever air in New York?

    CBS: 1.4

    CW: 0.4
    They are all up from last week, so they must be happy

    I love Grimm, but it would be the 3rd highest rated scripted show of the night, behind ABC’s comedies.

    That would be incredibly stupid because clearly what’s killing the Tuesday comedies is the tough competition whereas LMS and Malibu don’t have anything to compete against on Fridays, which’s why they did so well.
