MICHAEL BUBLÉ RETURNS TO NBC FOR HIS SECOND HOLIDAY SPECIAL, ‘MICHAEL BUBLÉ: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS,’ ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 10TH FROM 10-11PM ET
Rod Stewart, Blake Shelton, Carly Rae Jepsen and Elmo will join Bublé as he sings classics from his smash holiday album “Christmas” in his hometown of Vancouver, B.C.

NEW YORK, NY – November 5, 2012 – Michael Bublé returns with another star-studded holiday Christmas special airing on Monday, December 10th from 10-11 pm ET on NBC. The multi-Grammy Award winning singer is joined by guest stars Rod Stewart, Blake Shelton, and fellow Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen, as well as Elmo, on songs including “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Let it Snow,” “All I want for Christmas is You” and “Winter Wonderland.” With a little magic, Michael performs a special duet with Bing Crosby of the classic "White Christmas.”

"I’m so excited to be back on NBC for another big Christmas Special which we got to tape in my hometown of Vancouver,” said Bublé. “We had great fun with our guests and I think the show really captures the joyous spirit of the holidays."

Christmas has always been Michael Bublé's favorite holiday and it's been a long held dream of his to create the "ultimate" album that reflected the joy that the season brought to him and his family. But 2011 took the celebration to bigger heights than the multi Grammy winning Canadian superstar could have ever dreamt. His favorite classics, lovingly recorded, resulted in the multi-platinum “Michael Bublé Christmas,” the second biggest selling album of 2011 with sales that exceeded 6.5 million copies worldwide. The hearts of fans throughout the world embraced Michael Bublé's “Christmas” and he reigned supreme at the top of the charts in the US, the UK, Australian, Canada and many other countries for weeks. "Christmas" was produced by David Foster, Bob Rock and Humberto Gatica.

Bublé recently appeared on NBC’s "The Voice" as a mentor on Blake Shelton's team. He is also working in the recording studio with Bob Rock on a new studio album which is scheduled to be released in 2013.

Prior to last year's release Bublé completed his sold out "Crazy Love" Tour which played in 80 North American cities and was seen by over a million people. His "Crazy Love" CD won two Grammy Awards for Best Traditional Pop Vocal album and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his No. 1 Bublé penned single, "Haven't Met You Yet." Bublé is also the recipient of 10 Juno Awards including a Juno Album of the Year for his "It's Time" CD. His record sales internationally have exceeded 35 million copies.

“Michael Bublé: Home for the Holidays” is produced by Brad Lachman Productions (“Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” “The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade”) and Electus (“Fashion Star,” “Mob Wives.”)

“Michael Bublé is an incredible artist and we are thrilled to be bringing his adored holiday special back with NBC,” said Ben Silverman, Chairman and Founder of Electus.

His first special was at its best when he just sang Christmas songs, at its worst when he interviewed kids a la Art Linkletter and was interrupted by a succession of silly, unfunny skits. But I love the fact that Michael Buble is a total throwback to the crooners of yore, and truly wants to keep alive the tradition of the annual Christmas special like those hosted by Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Andy Williams. I’ll be watching.

Hopefully this time around, there will be more music by Buble and his guests and that he’ll will leave the comedy to Elmo.

Why does ABC keeps using people from The Voice? First Kelly and Robin and now this. That’s why Duets was a failure, no originality and confusing scoring.

Spelled ‘Michael’ wrong in the title.
(Sorry – a pet peeve of mine!)

I will probably watch this as I like the guy and his music – but it seems really strange they are airing it at 10pm.

The special is airing on NBC, not ABC.

Since Bublé is on Team GWN I thought I’d squeeze this in here …

CTV Spreads Holiday Cheer As Santa Claus Parade Comes to Town

He’s made a list, checked it twice, and is coming to CTV in just a few short weeks. With the holidays just around the corner, CTV announced today the broadcast details for the 108th Santa Claus Parade. For a third year in a row, CTV is the exclusive broadcast partner of the annual holiday parade – the world’s longest-running children’s parade. Returning to anchor the beloved holiday tradition are CTV Toronto’s Ken Shaw and CP24′s Melissa Grelo. The 90-minute broadcast airs Sunday, Nov. 18 from 4:30-6 p.m., and on the go via CTV Mobile equipped cell phones. Viewers can relive the festive broadcast on demand on CTV(dot)ca and the CTV iPad App following the broadcast …

I’m not a big fan of parades … in fact if given the choice of watching a parade or surgery I think I’d go with surgery … but obviously there are people out there who like ‘em so I thought I’d post this for those who are close enough to the border to get CTV OTA or on cable. I should also point out that I’m not a good judge but I think our parades are much worse than US parades … much, much worse … cringe worthy worse.

And speaking of Canucks, RIP Ann Rutherford (1917 – 2012) the prettiest Spirit of Christmas Past ever in A Christmas Carol (1938).

Trying to post a comment here and 5 times it just disappers into the ether with no explanation … hard to fix what may be the problem if the system doesn’t provide any feedback but just dumps the comment. [sigh]

    @Bill and/or Robert

I don’t know if you have a record of all the attempts I made to post the above comment(s) but it appears the system was having a problem with my original quote from the same movie … any chance you could take a look and tell me what part of the quote the system didn’t like? Very odd, and frustrating when you don’t get feedback about the problem, the comments just disappear so it’s hard to fix.

@Fake Me Out: it is a mystery to me why ymmv “I am not in the habit of substituting … for spurious Santa Clauses.” — Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn, who was the actual Santa in the 1946 parade for filming purposes) was ensnared in the spam trap.
