Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @ meah,

Yes you did tell people to watch it because she’s “black”.I would love for there to be more diversity on television. As a caucasion, if I told people to “support our own”, I’d be called a racist. I’m not sure if you’re a racist or separatist. I hope you’re neither and that you just misspoke. Either way neither one of them is good for ALL of mankind, not just “our own”.
Besides, I do like Scandal and will continue to watch and support the show. Just as you, I hope it continues for a long time.

  • Phl

666 Park Avenue should be switched to the CW. A 1.4 on CW would make it a hit!

  • omabin

I hope the walking dead kills it in ratings from last night. That was the best episode of a show I remember seeing lately. I don’t want to spoilt it for anyone but the last time i ended up an episode the same way i did with this was during lost season 5 finale and god know that has been long ago… I am in shock

  • Kavyn

I’m hoping ABC concludes 666 as a miniseries. It really just gets better and better.

  • Phl

Thats why it should be moved to the CW! On CW a 1.4 would make it a big hit!

  • SarahL

I am just holding on for The Walking Dead’s ratings. Outstanding episode last night.

  • john

Walking Dead was excellent. I wonder if its strength will be reflected in an uptick next week.

CBS needs to lose The Good Wife NOW or move that stinker to 10pm so it can finish the night off with a 1.1 for CBS.

Critics nor Syndication will save it this season. Good riddins

  • Ariadne@hotmail.com

I think they are waiting for Whoopi Goldberg to chek in,see how it will do and after that keepit for a full season or cancel it!

  • POI

go down 666 park avenue the show sucks and i dont know how people watch it they should put Last Resort it will do much better in that timeslot.

  • MattBud

tired of the 666 park avenue fantrolls, they have crappy taste in TV. What good acting does the show have? I’ve seen better acting in porn. AND there is NO Scares, watch more horror movies. American Horror Story is WAAAAAAAAAY superior than this badly written, directed and acted 666 park avenue.

ABC should just cancel this dreadful show. With shows like Dexter, American Horror Story & The Walking Dead. Noone wants to watch a watered down show with some of the worst acting on tv.

  • Mano

My grandma is sad about the Mentalist numbers.

  • Jessie

I expect 666 Park Avenue to be pulled by end of November.

  • jT

“That was the best episode of a show I remember seeing lately.”

You should watch better shows like mad men or game of thrones.

  • Joe

Poor Family Guy it facing a monster male competition of The Walking Dead

  • alffan

I think what messed up Fox last night was the confusing scheduling. I don’t know why but I originally thought they were back in another week and that they had some X-Factor episode last night.

Remember too that the NFL has a huge effect on what happens. CBS had a Steelers-Giants lead in which was massive and way over-ran.

The Cowboys and an undefeated Falcons were also a big draw. The Simpsons only did better because it was up against pre-game and Family Guy against the game.

Fox is in a tough situation. Sometimes I wonder if they wouldn’t be better off moving Animation Domination to a night like Tuesday where it could air every week and go reality on Sunday with X Factor in the Fall and then maybe one of the other shows in the Winter and Spring.

  • Tyson

    Alffan,

X Factor was originally planned to air last night. However, the World Series ended early and X Factor had a Wednesday-Thursday schedule instead of a Thursday-Sunday schedule. Therefore, Animation Domination returned a week earlier than first thought.

    @ don juan
why do people spaz out when the ratings change a tenth of a point? this happens on both sides.

They probably do not understand statistics. If they did, they would realize that such fluctuations are all due to the measurement error of the sample. Simple statistical variation. A move up or down of a tenth is insignificant.

In reality, people should be looking at trends (preferably a 4 to 5 week trend). If the trend goes up and down a tenth, chances are the show is actually performing somewhere in between.

If the trend shows a downward slide (i.e. each week showing a loss of a tenth), then you should be concerned.

  • Michael

    @Max…you are kinda sad.

  • Steve

Im surprised OUAT was up. That was (in my valueless opinion) one of the weakest episodes of the series. I found myself messing around on twitter more than actually watching the episode.

Revenge should have been higher. Best episode of the season so far. When the writing is focused on a few story lines rather than trying to have a bit of all of them in one episode, its MUCH more compelling. Madeline Stowe’s acting was ON FIRE last night.
