Last week's plunge to a 1.5 rating for The Mindy Project raises the question of whether it might be canceled along with Ben And Kate. It certainly could, and that rating gets it  dropped to a "toss up" for cancellation or renewal.

Fox's The Mob Doctor is still certain to be canceled even if, as seems likely now, it airs through the month of November, and beyond!

Raising Hope is predicted as "certain to be renewed" even with its somewhat weak early ratings. While the syndication gods ruling Fox aren't quite as predictable as those ruling CBS, it would take nothing short of a cataclysm to prevent the show from getting a fourth season. Read more about it here.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    @ Nick

If HIMYM can air at 8, New Girl easily could. And it already airs at 8 central…

  • Nick

    @Chrisss

8pm central doesn’t really count as “family hour”. Family hour is 7pm-9pm EST and 6pm-8pm CST.

And HIMYM is at 8 because the only shows more family-friendly than it on CBS are Partners (a flop) Mike & Molly (not strong enough to anchor a night) and The Big Bang Theory (already at 8 pm). Do you think they should put 2 Broke Girls or Two and a Half Men there?

  • Kim

    Cancel Mindy and keep Kate

  • MisterJ

It’ll be a shame when Ben & Kate doesn’t get a 2nd season. The acting is fantastic all around. Somehow Melanie Griffith raised an impressive actress — even the little girl nails her scenes. And yet, shows like Whitney (I know, I know, a different network) get more time than they deserve.

  • Oliver

Ben & Kate has new showrunners, which is a very bad sign.

  • Riff

Everybody, Chase wanted me to let you know that FOX has not had to give out any make-goods this fall. None. Whatsoever. No make-goods at all. They totally guaranteed 1.0 ratings on all their new shows. And they completely expected “The X Factor” to do 2.0 ratings with Britney Spears. That’s why they nickel and dimed her salary. Because they knew the ratings would drop with her. So, now you know everything’s just peachy over at FOX, and thanks for asking!

Looking for laughs among the Fox sitcoms
Watching the shows, a clue for to see
What’s gonna be the show that Fox cancels?
    Everyone knows it’s Mindy.

Never, my love. Obama-worshipping journalists across the country all cherish the comedy stylings of Mindy Kaling. They thought sitcoms were dead, but then along came Mindy.

I am ok with it as long as RH and NG are left alone.

  • OliveGinger

I think, if given a chance, Mindy Project is just as good as RH and NG. In fact, I didn’t like NG at all for its first few epps; it wasn’t until the Schmidt character breakout that I begn watching more regularly. Even now, that show is uneven but I keep it in my DVR schedule; I forsee MP developing in a similar way. B&K is engaging as well, and I hope that does better soon as well.

WHO THE FUQ WATCHES RAISING HOPE? AND BONES IS STILL ON?

  • atlanta

@Sarah I know this is a little late but remember that Kevin Reilly has already said they have a licensing agreement for Bones for season 9. That is a good sign and Bones is still drawing in fans, a high for the net again this week. Yea, I know demo is king but viewers is prince. I think one more season too.

  • atlanta

@God Yes Bones is still on and had a high in viewers for the net last week. The demo isn’t doing badly either.

  • MoSaintsFan

My son and I, who rarely watch sitcoms (except for FX ones) like these shows- neither has been given a real shot to develop, what with World Series and election. I say, give them a chance!!
