THE OPENING SIX WEEKS LAST YEAR NBC WINS MONDAY AMONG ABC, CBS, NBC AND FOX IN 18-49 FOR AN EIGHTH STRAIGHT WEEK, WITH THE #1-2 SHOWS OF THE NIGHT ON THOSE NETS, ‘The Voice’ AND ‘REVOLUTION’ MONDAY’S ‘The Voice’ MATCHES THE SHOW’S SEASON HIGH IN 18-49 NBC WINS ITS FOURTH STRAIGHT TUESDAY IN 18-49, AS ‘The Voice’ MATCHES ITS FIVE-WEEK TUESDAY HIGH AND NBC NEWS’ STORM COVERAGE REPORTS THE TOP BIG-THREE NON-DEBATE RATING IN THE SLOT THIS SEASON ‘Grimm’ CAPTURES ITS SECOND-BEST FRIDAY RESULTS SINCE LAST JANUARY COWBOYS-FALCONS ‘Sunday Night Football’ WINS THE NIGHT AMONG ABC, CBS, NBC AND FOX IN ALL KEY CATEGORIES UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – November 6, 2012 – NBC has won the primetime week of October 29-November 4 in adults 18-49 with a 3.1 rating, its highest average for an in-season week since January 31-February 6, the week of the Super Bowl. NBC has now won five of the season’s first six weeks in 18-49 for the first time in 10 years. NBC took the week with a 35 percent increase in adults 18-49 versus its week-six rating of last season, making this the network’s highest week-six 18-49 rating since 2007. In total viewers, NBC’s 8.6 million persons for the week is up 31 percent versus the same week last year and is also the network’s highest in-season average since Super Bowl week. “Sunday Night Football” ranked #1 for the week in adults 18-49, Monday’s “The Voice” was #3 and the Tuesday “Voice” was #4 (rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows). “SNF” was the #1 primetime show of the week on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in total viewers; adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54; men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54; kids 2-11 and teens 12-17. Monday’s “Voice” was #1 on those networks in women 18-34 and women 18-49. Note that all regularly scheduled programs from Monday, Oct. 29 to Saturday November 3 are reported as breakouts by Nielsen due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. Breakouts are included in overall primetime averages but are not included in season-to-date programming averages Season to date, NBC is up 24 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 3.1 vs. a year-ago 2.5) and up 19 percent in total viewers (8.6 million vs. 7.2 million). NBC is ahead of its year-ago season average by double-digit percentages in every key ratings category. For the season to date, NBC’s schedule features four of primetime's top seven programs on the broadcast nets ("Sunday Night Football," #1; "The Voice" Monday and "Revolution,” tied for #4; and "The Voice” Tuesday, tied for #6). NBC’s schedule features the #1 show overall (“SNF”), the #1 drama on the broadcast networks (“Revolution”), the #1 new comedy (“Go On”) and #1 Friday series (“Grimm”) (sports pre- and post-game shows are excluded from these rankings). Primetime averages for the week of October 29-November 4 in adults 18-49 were: NBC, 3.1/8; CBS, 2.8/8; ABC, 2.2/6; Fox, 1.7/5; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 11.6 million; NBC, 8.6 million; ABC, 8.2 million; Fox, 4.5 million; and CW, 1.6 million. Season to date averages through six weeks are: NBC, 3.1/9; CBS, 2.8/8; ABC, 2.5/7; Fox, 2.5/7; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.8 million; ABC, 9.0 million; NBC, 8.6 million; Fox, 7.2 million; and CW, 1.7 million. NBC highlights for the week of October 29-November 4 Monday: NBC won the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 for an eighth straight week, with “The Voice” (4.8 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 12.4 million viewers overall) matching its season-high 18-49 rating and delivering the #1 result of the night for an entertainment telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, also for an eighth week in a row. At 10:01 p.m. ET, "Revolution" (3.0/7 in adults 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) generated the #2 rating of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49. "Revolution" won the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and other key demos. Tuesday: NBC won its fourth consecutive Tuesday in 18-49 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, leading six of six half-hour with “The Voice” (4.6/12 in 18-49, 12.1 million viewers overall) and the NBC News special “Sandy's Fury” (2.9/8 in 18-49, 8.3 million in total viewers). The special two-hour “Voice” equaled the show's highest Tuesday rating since September 18, while “Sandy's Fury” reported the highest 18-49 rating in the time slot on ABC, CBS and NBC, excluding debate coverage, so far this season. Wednesday: “Chicago Fire” (1.6/4 in adults 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second by 7 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 1.5) and 2 percent in total viewers (5.7 million vs. 5.6 million). In 18-49, it was the first time a 10 p.m. ET drama on ABC, CBS or Fox to grow half-hour to half-hour in the seven nights since “Chicago Fire” did it on October 24. Also on Wednesday, “Guys With Kids” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) built on its 18-49 lead-in by 18 percent. The increase gave "Guys With Kids" a build on lead-in with each of its six telecasts to date in the time period. The only other 8:30 comedies on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox this season to build on their 18-49 lead-in even once this season are NBC's "Up All Night" and ABC’s “Malibu Country.” Thursday: "Rock Center” (1.3/3 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) delivered its highest 18-49, 25-54 (1.7) and total-viewer results since September 13. Week to week, "Rock Center was up 18 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating vs. a 1.1), 21 percent in adults 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.4) and 31 percent in total viewers (4.9 million vs. 3.7 million). Also on Thursday, an encore of "The Voice" (1.3/3 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) generated NBC's biggest audience in the time period (Thursday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) since September 27. Friday: "Grimm" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) captured the show's second-highest Friday 18-49 and total-viewers results since January 20, 2012, behind only the prior week’s Nielsens. Sunday: NBC led Sunday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in every key rating category, as Cowboys-Falcons “Sunday Night Football” (8.5/21 in 18-49, 21.8 million viewers overall, 13.2/20 in households) scored five-week highs and #1 rankings for the week. Ratings reflect “live plus same day” data from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise noted.
