TV Ratings Monday: 'The Voice', 'How I Met Your Mother' & 'Castle' Slide, 'Revolution' & 'Dancing With the Stars' Dip

Last night’s Monday Night Football game (Saints/Eagles) was simulcast on the NBC affiliate in New Orleans. As a result, the NBC numbers may be a bit inflated  and subject to more than typical adjustments in the finals.

NBC was number one with adults 18-49, while ABC won with total viewers.

On NBC, The Voice earned a 4.5, down four tenths from last week's 4.9 adults 18-49 rating. . Revolution scored a 2.9, down a tenth from last week's 3.0. Your predictions were too optimistic .

On ABC, Dancing With the Stars scored a 2.1, down two tenths from last week's 2.3 . Castle earned a 1.9, down three tenths from last week's 2.2 adults 18-49 rating

CBS returned to its regular Monday Night lineup after a week of repeats for Superstorm Sandy and preemption from presidential debate coverage. How I met Your Mother earned a 2.8, down four tenths from its last original's 3.2. Partners was even with the 2.1 it earned 3 weeks ago. 2 Broke Girls earned a 3.3, up two tenths from the 3.1 it earned three weeks ago and Mike & Molly earned a 2.8, down two tenths from its last 3.0 rating. Hawaii Five-O returned to a  2.0, down a tenth from a 2.1 three weeks ago.

On FOX, the return of Bones was flat with its last original's 2.0. Frequent punchline The Mob Doctor returned to a 1.0, which is actually up a tenth from its last 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

On the CW, 90210 Returned from a week off to earn a 0.4 even with its last original. Gossip Girl returned to a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating after its last original's 0.4 rating.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Revolution is one of the worst shows to air on television in years.

    If you watch this show and actually think its good, well written, fun and well acted.

    Then you are a complete and total moron.

    But then Michele Bachmann will probably be re-elected tonight so go figure.

    i think if the beauty and the beast ratings gets worst the cw is gonna have to choose between beauty&best or emily owens for cancellation , i think if they’d cancelled beauty after it’s 12 episodes air they can replace it with cult in january. but if they canceled emily owens they’d have nothing to pair hart of dixe with on tuesdays there for i think b&theB will get canceled in late dec & emily owens will get a full season even with bad ratings and then be axed in may .

    The Voice made two major mistakes.
    Too Many Contestants after Blind Auditions. Even though the best part of the show, just got tedious.
    Also clearly Producers want to pander to what they think we want. And dumped really talented women who were older and or larger for the young skinny singers with less talent and sincerity. Only other explainationn is Adam is letting his johnson pick his talent.

    I love Castle since day 1, for me it´s a great show… and in 5th season still leads in viewers by more than 2 million against a new show as Revolution (wich for me is awful, but to everyone it´s liking). Never watched H5, so won´t say nothing about it…

    Lol gossip girls and 90210 both under 1 million viewers. 90210 does not need a shortened final season. Just wrap it up this season.

    I gotta say, I saw the first episode of Partners and wasn’t a fan. But I saw the first half of last night’s episode (I couldn’t stay for the whole episode unfortunately) and I was surprisingly impressed! I was actually laughing. Maybe it’s got hope (quality wise. Ratings, not so much)

    Thanks :) “Revolution” is definitely a phenomenon (whether we like it or not) you don’t see very often. It was intensively advertised and has very strong lead-in. NBC really did good job here as opposed to CBS (some heads should roll for ruining monday night schedule and almost killing H50). It just pains to me to see these low numbers for H50 – this show had such ratings last year with reruns! Still, when we look at the other ten p.m. ratings though, it looks like other shows struggle. Elementary (which I enjoy very much) is already down to a 2.4 and on a downward trend week to week. Vegas doing pretty badly (1.6 in the demo) – and both are without the competition like Revolution. Then you’ve got The Mentalist seriously under-performing too. The only ten pm CBS show that is holding up right now is CSI. ABC has similar problem, their ten pm shows are in the 1.7-2.1 range.
    We have significant drop in the ten pm ratings this year across the board compared to last year.

    I believe Revolution is the best show to premiere this season. Even over Last Resort. I’m getting more invested in this show every week.
