Based on Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day numbers for their premiere telecasts last Friday (11/2/12), ABC’s Last Man Standing and Malibu Country posted substantial gains over their next-day L+SD results.

ABC’s season premiere of Last Man Standing surged by 1.27 million viewers in its first 3 days of DVR playback to draw an average audience of 9.3 million Total Viewers and grew from a 2.0 rating to a 2.4 rating among Adults 18-49.

The series debut of Malibu Country added on 1.34 million viewers to its initial tallies in the L+3 numbers to pull in an average audience of 10.5 million Total Viewers and jumped from a 2.3 rating to a 2.8 rating among Adults 18-49, bolstering its status as Friday’s #1 TV show in the key young adult sales demo.

What is crazy is how much network TV as a whole has aged. When Hope & Faith premiered on Friday back in 2003 (?), it did 11.8 million and a 3.8 in adults. You would assume that Reba would have similar demos, and it came close in viewers, but not at all in adults.

Huge jumps for LMS and MC, ABC has some real Friday night juggernauts on its hands.

Yeah network TV has aged pretty hard in the past 5-10 years, just too much competition now in days and other platforms to provide entertainment these days.

Last man standing is enjoyed by all my family. So glad it has started back. Not enough family clean 1/2 hr comedies.
