I am so happy that with future Supreme Court Justice nominees coming from President Obama a woman’s right to choose will CONTINUE to be law of the land for decades to come!!!!!!!
“You have no increase in taxes but you lose your job because your company can not afford the additional burden. Who wins?”
______________
Listen, this argument is fine, but please just acknowledge that this is true of pretty much any deficit reduction solution. If we cut defense spending, it’s going to hurt the defense industry, and thus the economy. Even food stamps have economic importance to the agricultural industry.
In essence, there’s very little we can do in budgetary terms that isn’t either stimulus or austerity, and maybe a little honesty on the part of our leaders would go a long way. “If you want to reduce the debt, fine, but that means it’s time to eat your vegetables.” Either we’re going to do a little more stimulus, or spread the pain, instead of trying to occupy this middle ground that doesn’t exist.
The only thing we can do with real economic impact that isn’t directly related to budgetary policy is regulatory reform. Perhaps the president should make an agreement: We do a plan thats 2/3rds cut 1/3rd tax increases, and I’ll sign on to regulatory reform.
whatever
@AP
Now it all makes sense. Most Republicans really are ignorant. It’s really not their fault, most of what they learn is in the form of propaganda from Rush, Hannity, and Fox News.
BTW, making the case for demand-stimulus as opposed to austerity, things like taxes are a ‘burden’ precisely because demand still isn’t there in the economy. In a recession of demand, ANY costs are a burden, that doesn’t mean it’s the SOURCE of your economic woes. This is not a tax-induced recession.

Are you telling me a company making millions needs tax cuts to survive? Hell even if a company is making over 250K they are doing pretty good.
This idea that we give a company a tax cut and they will use that extra cash to hire somebody is ridiculous, if somebody gets extra money chances are they are just going to invest it or put it in a bank. Simple fact is we are in a supply and demand economy. Basically the more demand(people buying) increases the supply(ie people hiring)
We need more people with buying power(ie the middle class) to increase demand which intern means business are making more money and have to hire people
All that being said I am all for Obama giving some tax credits to small businesses making under 1M dollars(but if a business makes millions of dollars they don’t need a tax cut) or even raising the 250K amount to a slightly higher number(since people making under a million or more likely to use that cash to go out and spend), he did say he was willing to move on some things
Apple,
You had a wise teacher & you must have been a good student.

@Matthew
I’m not going to be scolded, or reeled in.
Fine . Scolding ? It’s more disappointment. You said you had an activism interest in putting a stop to PAC money. Words don’t carry the day ; action does . Are you sitting on your hands, or, just typing with them ? As I said, you are a hypocrite . You talk a noble game , but, what do you do but complain about the Republicans ? Tell me in a reasoned way what you do in your community that furthers your beliefs & helps your fellow man. I really want to know .

LOL
We have had nearly four years of total Dem control and we have amassed nearly 6 trillion in additional debt.
If you raised taxes 600 billion in O. first year in office when he had super majorities the debt would still 3.4 billion over the last four years. That is if and I know you don’t believe this we didn’t have another recession because of the 600 billion dollar tax increase.
Your side has zero credibility when it comes to debt.
You control the government NOW and most of it for the last four years. How long will you blame the GOP of the past. What is your answer? How many more years do you need to fix it?
You all talk like the GOP has been the party in power the last four years.
Love the news that “fox news informed” Romney was “shell-shocked” with the incoming election results.
Shows that he and many Misinformed Republicans were shocked when their cages were rattled by the reality of being beaten in almost every swing state, contrary to the hype and and fluffing by Fox News.
Lbsles, how do you like the news that Texas along with Arizona are becoming swing states and eventually more democratic leaning due to the hard line you and your GOP leaders are taking??
Tick Tock Tick Tock

@Ratboy
President want to raise taxes on the rich and cut spending. What is wrong with that? What is the Republican’s plan? What would you recommend?
First, no increase in taxes but change the tax codes, second reduce the regulations, third put Obamacare on hold while implementing tort reform, then open up across state lines to purchase health care, then invest government into real proven job producing get your hands dirty infrastructure repair but make it available to ALL not just union shop companies. Maybe some will have to lose their kahkis and polo shirt and wear some jeans and get a callous or two but it will turn things around. Then make unemployment contingernt on looking for a job and NOT turning down anything!!! If unemployment pays average of 8 bucks an hour and you are offered a job at 7 bucks an hour you have to take it and the state/feds will only pay the difference! You quit or you lose it for cause you are DONE! No more reporting over the phone! You nhave to get off of your butt and report to the unemployment office like the old days with a fist full of phomne numbers that turned you down when you applied!
I could go on but I wont
@d.d. & Matthew,
Social networking, and typing away have a powerful impact these days!!
Matthew there is a lot you can do right where you are sitting. Tuesdays election with mass emails, and social media certainly played a major role in Obama reelection. The old ways of setting ones self on fire are no longer necessary.
This happened before Karl Rove’s famous meltdown, so many of you who have seen the regular videos online have never seen this 10 second part.
“Republican Math” – I couldn’t believe what Megyn Kelly actually said that to Karl Rove. It was one of the funniest things that I have ever seen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1lJ3tfQFpc
Matthew as I said, we will just have to disagree. One can find stats to support any argument.
As far as the Republican politicians, they are just that–politicians. When I speak of a conservative agenda I am not referring to what the politicians do. I am referring to the will of the constituency of the right. Our agenda which is small government and fiscal responsibility. You say the GOP is all rhetoric and no substance–I agree and I would say the same thing about the dems. The thing about the dems that I disagree with so fervently is that they offer more and more “things” to people and pose it as caring about them instead of what it really is—-wanting their vote. The dems are just as offensive as the right as they do not care what their entitlement policies do to the economy as long as they stay in power. I have not seen in history a utopian society where everyone is equal and there is no poverty. What we have had in the past in the US is the best there has ever been but we are loosing it quickly as politicians promise “things” for votes. Both parties do it but the left is the worst offender. One friend described it as a shiny quarter. One side is R, the other is D. You drop them in the cesspool called Washington and they are both come out covered in—fill in the blank.
“The only area where cost growth has been entirely out of control is Health Care, and that isn’t a result of monetary policy.” I will disagree with you here also. Medicare and Medicaid has increased the cause of health care. Government regulations and policies have increased the cost of health care–ask any doctor. Everything the government does to “help” hurts us as time goes on. Now the the government has announces that they will go into the health care business–we should all be very scared.
Enough politics for the day. Have a good one all!!

A monstrous practice, cold, heartless, soulless. And that late term that the left and O. supports only one word describes it. Ghoulish!

Mark do you know anything about margins? Do you know anything about how they effect the investors? And you all talk about huge profits. Well the huge profits are in some ways attached to the lack of new investing and risk taking based on the economic conditions. It is a lot larger than just saying you made millions so you can afford it!
In case you didn’t watch it:

@SP
‘I wouldn’t get to scared yet lefties the 4th broadcast network is a long way away from raising enough money. Right now it is smart guys and girls sitting around in a room and what they are coming up with is brilliant…….
Gone will be the days of hit and run leftest journalism. The corrupt propaganda media will be gone. The corrupt 1%ers at CBS, NBC, ABC will have to get real jobs………
I predict this thing will be huge 25-30 million people nightly…………..
Sam is right we need to appeal to a broader base of people. Watch how fast we start to gain when your propaganda wing is decimated.”
Do you realize how unhinged your rants against the propaganda machine are becoming?
-Do you know what a broadcast network is?
_Do you know there already is a fourth broadcast network called Fox?
-Do you know there is actually a fifth broadcast of sorts named the CW?
If Fox wanted to they could have a 1 hour news cast a night but they seem to have no interest in doing this and their affiliates have no interest in doing this whatsoever.
25-30 million viewers a night. You think since you are after all on a TV ratings site you might at the end of the day know SOMETHING about TV ratings, lol.
At best there may be a conservative movement to develop a right wing cable channel similar to Current TV. The Blaze TV already fits that niche to some degree.
Hey Jeffie please notice CBS not FOX
“You talk a noble game , but, what do you do but complain about the Republicans ?”
______________________
I don’t even know what this means. This is the TVBTN Cable News discussion forum. This is not a movement, not a place to plan movements. I come here, and I argue politics, and sometimes I have actual, on-topic cable news discussion. I have no idea what else you expect. If you feel that I give an undue level of blame to the Republican party, that’s fine, but it’s how I feel. I believe that their dishonesty in regards to the issues lay at the root of our inability to move forward.
“Tell me in a reasoned way what you do in your community that furthers your beliefs & helps your fellow man. I really want to know .”
_______________
My words and my vote are the only power I have to leverage against massive amounts of money. I vote my conscience, and I reach out to my family, friends and peers. I advocate for certain positions in places where I know I can make a difference (not here). I have convinced several apathetic friends to get registered and get involved, and beyond that I don’t know what you think I should be doing. If I can convince just a few people to care, and they can convince people to care, and so on, I’m satisfied. I’m certainly not looking to be the founder of a movement.
And once again the left here has turned it back to FOX, Karl Rove and comments like this
Most Republicans really are ignorant. It’s really not their fault, most of what they learn is in the form of propaganda from Rush, Hannity, and Fox News
I guess thats all they got!
