On NBC, The Voice, with a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating was way down from last Tuesday's 4.6 rating.  But, it was airing out of pattern on a new night--it doesn't usually air Wednesdays, but due to the election it did. Despite the new day dip, it boosted Chicago Fire by 27% to a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating versus last week's 1.6 adults 18-49 rating. The Voice also propelled NBC to its first in-season Wednesday win in 18-49 with non-sports programming since Christmas Eve 2008.

On FOX, X Factor earned a 2.6, down a tenth from last week's 2.7 adults 18-49 rating.

On ABC, The Middle scored a 2.8, up two tenths  from its last original's 2.6 adults 18-4 rating.  The Neighbors earned a 2.1, also up two tenths  from last week's 1.9 adults 18-49 rating. Modern Family notched a 4.7, way up from last week's 4.2 adults 18-49 rating. Suburgatory earned a 2.9, half a full ratings point up from last week's 2.4 adults 18-49 rating. Nashville garnered a 2.0, up two tenths from last week's series low 1.8 18-49 rating.

On CBS, Survivor: Philippines scored a  2.7, up two tenths from last week's 2.5 adults 18-49 rating. Criminal Minds garnered a 3.0, up a tenth from last week's 2.9 adults 18-49 rating. CSI earned 2.3, down a tenth from last week's 2.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On the CW, Arrow scored a 1.3, up three tenths from last week's 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and it's best-since-premiere rating. Supernatural earned an 1.0, up two tenths from last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.

You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.

Definitions: Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

I’m happy for The Middle, The Neighbors, Modern Family, and Suburgatory! :) I watched the latter for the first time, and I loved it.

  • Babygate

I just started to watch The Middle a few weeks ago and I could not believe how funny it is. And not in an inappropriate kind of way with sexual innuendos and such props typically used to elicit laughter. It is just plain funny. This cast does it all. They deliver the funny lines and do the physical comedy. I’ve discovered a new favorite. And The Neighbors has surprised me as well. I thought it was going to be about litlle plastic.green men running around but its just funny. The Wednesday comedy block is a winner. Much, much better than the Tuesday bombs with Apt. 23 and HE. Nashville its still in 3rd place. Still, I don’t think this is in danger or cancellation. This is a very solid show with solid performances. Nashville is my ‘watch live’ show while I Dvr Chicago Fire which is not great but its also a solid show.

X-factor held up well? yes the rest off the shows were on top of the FOURTH PLACE x-factor(soon to be x-show lol)The voice fading? it won the night in demo for NBC.Have you seen the ratings at that time for them?NBC pulled a slickk move they trended upwards in half hours holding a4 at 9mp actually going up during MF and Sub as X went down the Voice is bigger then ever,I have no bias against X factor I actually watch it but The Voice has friends of mine who never watch tv watching them.To state some of the Voice fading posters, and X-tina haters you are not ground in reality,(must be Romney voters) lol,Math counts!

  • hill

Can’t wait for Whitney next week!

  • MattFitz

and TJ Mon is its regular time slot Wed is not it was down a little this week as was all viewr ship the night before a national electin!Alot of th demo was out working on Obama campaign, I live near UW Madison .The young people the admen covet were out winning an election!X-tinas just dropping a new album how could you call it a flop?Lets see how it does before you give your post mortem,I think she is one of the most gifted young singers of her generation and I confess Ive always loved Puerto Rican Woman so I confess bias there lol

  • Dee

I think if Nashville maintain a steady rating, it will definitely be renewed. I mean, for a show to be praised by critics, soundtracks ranking in iTunes, high dvr ratings and superb acting/scenes,if ABC doesn’t pick it up, another network is bound to pick it up. Hopefully, by a network that knows how to promote it :) Love the show by the way. Talk about love quadruples..

  • Fred

X-Tina has a beautiful voice, but many of her songs are not.
Britney has an ordinary voice, but most of her tracks are HOT!

  • Trice

Chicago Fire is the biggest surprise of the season so far I thought this show would’ve gotten Prime Suspect numbers and even without the boost this week its been over 1.5 every week so far and making Nashville look weak. I honestly don’t believe Nashville’s numbers bad but the fact that Chicago Fire has stole its thunder is what’s making it look bad.

  • cass rowland

people Chicago fire only went up because of the voice lead in it will definitely go down next week

  • Sarasota Slim

That last episode of Supernatural was really lame. This series has grown so stale. Let it ride off into the sunset before it becomes a dinosaur still on its feet.

  • Kavyn

Arrow and Neighbours are ny two fave wednesday shows this season so I’m glad to see them up. Hope they stick in the finals.

  • Methix

Arrows wa sup , mostly becaause the EP was good , and also deathstroke was in it , that is the best verson of deathstroke seen in a tv show , although i didint like how a old man with abeard in some ruffy scrags knocked him down

  • Kavyn

I also like Nashville, but to be completely honest it is quite boring. It’s hard to believe how stale Rayna is compared to the other two female leads considering how much Rayna was the focus. She’s very unlikable and unrelatable, pulling along the guy that loves her for no real reason other than to use him for his writing.

  • Eddy

    @ Fred

I always thought Xtina had the more talent in the voice area but Britney was the better performer. It’s been a little rivalry that’s translated onto reality competitions. I really like X Factor’s performers this year they have some good rivalries on there like there’s a good little rivalry going on between two 13 year olds Carly Rose and Beatrice it reminds me of Britney and Xtina because Carly has the stronger voice but Beatrice is one of the kind as she’s a better performer.

    @ Trice

Chicago Fire is definitely a huge surprise for me didn’t think it’d be doing this well so far. I think Chicago Fire and even Nashville will be back next season.

  • Eddy

    @ cass rowland

Um I think people already know that, people are celebrating Chicago’s Fire rating because it was already doing well before without the big boost. It’s retention out of The Voice is better than Go On and New Normal and The Voice is higher on Tuesdays because that’s one of its regular nights.

  • Mickey

    @cass rowland

people Chicago fire only went up because of the voice lead in it will definitely go down next week

Sure it’ll probably go back down, but it might retain some of the new viewers who checked it out. That’s the whole point of sampling: expose the show to people who haven’t tried it yet, some of them like it and keep watching.

  • Duncey

It was a great night for everyone and that might be the first time this season all five networks had something to rave about from start to finish.

Yeah guys I agree just because Chicago Fire aired after The Voice doesn’t mean it won’t do well next week. I also thought that Chicago Fire did a better retention job than Go On and New Normal especially since The Voice usually higher on Tuesdays. Chicago Fire is legit and the real deal. Next week will be interesting to see if Whitney can keep the momentum going for Wednesdays obviously it won’t be as high as this week but hopefully for them its the best non-Voice Wednesday of the season so far for the network.

  • Tim

ABC’s comedy block still on FIRE and I predict all four will get renewed in May.

The X Factors ratings show people really only care about the auditions.

Animal Practice is officially gone *cries*

  • Ateofi

@john. I should argue with you about “revolution”. On monday it had ratings 2.8 and “the voice” had 4.4 if i remember correctly and 12 milion viewers. So it’s a drop of 1.6. On wednesday “Chicago fire” had 2.3 and “the voice” had 3.7 demo ratings so the drop is 1.4. I think that says a lot about “revolution”. Its high ratings comr only from the stronger lead-in and they are not based on the show real merit.

  • Douglas from Brazil

I think the numbers were down last week due to Hurricane. With the power restored for most people affected it’s likely the numbers would be up this week.
