Beauty And The Beast just got a back nine order from the CW, making it the second of three freshmen series to get a full season from the network (Arrow was the first). Will this finally take Emily Owens MD off life support?

THE CW ORDERS FULL SEASON OF FRESHMAN
November 9, 2012 (Burbank, CA) – The CW picked up a full season of its freshman hit drama Beauty And The Beast, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.
Beauty And The Beast stars Kristin Kreuk (“Smallville,” “Chuck”) as Catherine, Jay Ryan (“Terra Nova”) as Vincent, Max Brown (“The Tudors,” “MI-5”) as Evan, Nina Lisandrello (“Nurse Jackie”) as Tess, Nicole Gale Anderson (“Make It or Break It”) as Heather, Austin Basis (“Life Unexpected”) as J.T., and Brian White (“The Shield,” “The Cabin in the Woods”) as Joe.
Last night’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was up 9% in total viewers versus last week, and also grew in all key adult demos week to week. Season to date, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is averaging 2.4 million viewers and a 1.3 rating among women 18-34, and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-34, in most current Nielsen data.

only reason it gets a full season is that CW can only axe one new show which is obviously EOMD because the CW doesn’t have a lot of mid season replacement and it would have an open slot if they cancelled both. and even with TVD performing better than last year and a better lead in than last year BatB is still performing worse than TSC

B&TB won’t fall below .5 It will always have at least 50% retention of TVD. So unless TVD plummets Beauty will still be above .5
Didn’t people say that about The Secret Circle last year?
Unless B&TB keeps drawing 0.7s for the rest of the season or better it’s going to get cancelled. Right now, you could say the rating is a bit safe, as it’s CW’s #4 show, but of course only because it follows #1. If it goes to 0.6 is a toss up, if it hits 0.5 by the end of the season (or sooner) it’ll be a goner

This does make me wonder, how Beauty and The Beast would rate if it wasn’t for a strong lead-in… It’s not good to always rely on a lead-in for a fan-base.
thats some sales pitch.. giving it a full season is a mistake.. its doing much worse then TSC did last year. Id bet the ratings dive to 0.2s before the season ends.
Love me for me actually 0.7. & that was the lowest rated show renewed that year-Life Unexpected got 0.7 and was cancelled in season two.
I’m really happy Beauty got a full season, it’s a good show.But it’ll move to Tues in place of EO at Midseason and Cult will premiere after VD and CW needs to find a show to put after Nikita on fri after it moves back to 8 instead of repeats all season.
The CW has to put something on their schedule and since Emily Owens MD has bombed, this is a no-brainer.
BIG MISTAKE CW if its getting 0.6s this early what wil it be getting by next May 0.2s?

I think that they will push the ANTM premiere up to February and have it air Fridays at 9. Emily Owens gets cut after 13 episodes and Cult premieres in its place.

Some people are extremely nasty and to be frank, just immature. I think this is great news! I love the show and think it has improved immensely since the pilot. They’re really finding themselves now. All the people and their over the top negative predictions just sound bitter. I get it. Shows I’ve loved have been canceled. Pedowitz himself said Ringer was canceled because it wasn’t doing well online with the downloads. As for The Secret Circle, it did take a nosedive and there were a lot of people who felt the show was going in a creatively negative direction. Not to mention it was the “it” show last year. BATB never has been that. Arrow is this year’s Secret Circle. Just because BATB is airing in the Secret Circle slot does not mean that it is or ever has been the same story. Plus that show had a large cast. There are so many factors that are taken into consideration. Anyway, I hope the word keeps spreading about the show and the ratings will eventually climb more.
