Why are soooo many people saying it’s doing way worse than TSC last year?

    TSC Ep 5 – 1.89 million and 0.8
    B&TB Ep 5 – 1.85 million and 0.7

It’s not doing as well, but it really isn’t THAT far behind either…

Michael, I know right?i love VD and have nothing against Matt but from the trailer I’ve seen, I won’t be watching Cult cause it looks bad and not like my kind of show.I do like Beauty and VD though.

  • SPM

AT you are deluded The Secret Circle and Beauty & the Beast are EXACTLY the same CW show, the post Vampire Diaries slot show so wake up & smell the coffee.

Also most people online feel the last quarter of THSCs season were its strongest writigwide so where you get this creative neagative direction nosense? god only knows.

B&TB has already had numerous 0.6s, TSC never got a 0.6 until near the end of the season. You do the math.

  • SPM

    @ CarrieMaine

Its ALL ABOUT the 18 – 34 demo my dear not the overall ratings. In comparisons to TSC B&TB is doing hideously worse in the demo.

  • a p garcia

    Well done BATB.

  • Joe

@Jared i was extremely skeptical when i watched the pilot, and 2 episodes afterwards, which is when i finally stopped watching, the biggest crux of the show is the male lead, not only can he not act, but his scenes with the female lead are the least compelling parts of the show, her scenes with her friends, doing cop work are all more compelling, yet it’s about a love story, not exactly a recipe for success.

P.S. I agree with the general consensus about this being this years Secret Circle. That show took WAYYYYYY too long to get good (About half the season) but by then most of it’s audience had left, and unfortunately for this show i think it’ll never get good so it won’t have an outside shot of retaining a decent following like SC might of.

    @SPM
    Are you kidding me ?
TSC was good in the beginning but then it’s start to be BAD in all ways, even if i watched it, it wasn’t great at all (and certainly not the last quarter).

  • SPM

    @ Sammy

I can assure you MOST people thought the show improved in the last episodes when John Blackwell appeared, the show most certainly improved dramatically when it become less about Cassie’s love life and more about the dark magic that had been building up throughout the season.

  • tscchope

That means it gets a 0.5 rating amongst males 18-34 and repsumasbly an even lower rating males 35-49, assuming it skews as heavily in favour of women 35-49 as it does 18-34. Ratings are on a downward path. Right now it’s in the bubble range for CW. But then, I reckon, CW’s on oxygen.

2.4 m viewers must be live+7 that CW raves about and advertisers ignore.
CW has nothing better. Why does it skew so heavily female? Female lead is no beauty.

    @CarrieMaine
Why are soooo many people saying it’s doing way worse than TSC last year?

Because they are looking at more than one data point?

    TSC – 1.3, 0.9, 1.0, 0.8, 0.8

    B&B – 1.2, 0.7, 0.6, 0.6, 0.7

I have to ask is the CW owned by the people who owned the WB because if it is what happened. The WB brought some of the best written shows of their time on air. Charmed, Angel, Dawson’s Creek, and especially Buffy the Vampire Slayer my favorite and one of the best television shows of all time. And now the CW airs bad tv with Nikita, Arrow, and Hart of Dixie being exceptions, and Beauty and the Beast, Gossip Girl, 90210, and Emily Owens being perfect examples. What happened! The CW needs to seriously re-vamp their network or it won’t be a network anymore. Of course this is all in my opinion most certainly to other people the television shows I listed could be bad or good in theirs. Bring back the WB!!!

    “Lana” gets full season,hahahah cw

  • John A

I didnt think TSC fell below a 1.0 that quick. What the heck are they that bitter then? It really was a flop.

  • little_big_man

Actually CW can’t cancel anything unless they quickly order another series (like The Selection or a third season of LA Complex) or have a repeat hour, because Cult already has to replace ANTM, which only returns in the summer and not in spring.

  • TVDude

They probably had no choice. It was probably that or repeating TVD.

  • SPM

    @ John A

I think fans are more bitter at the fact the CW ended the first season on a massive massive cliffhanger with endless new possibilities knowing very well they were going to cancel it.

Mark Pedowitz admitting he didn’t like the show and felt it failed because it had no good looking guys in it didn’t help matters.

I also don’t believe it was a flop, the show was pulling in consecutive 0.7/8 after consecutive 0.7/8 all the way up until the March hiatus which lasted almost a month and so lost it alot of live fans when it returned in April for its last 4 episodes which scored three 0.5s and ended on a 0.6.

Far from a flop really in comparison to B&TB.

Can people please shut up about the Secret Circle? There’s a reason why so many people (including entertainment journalists) who find over the top Secret Circle fans to be irritants.

That all said, why is no one pointing out the obvious about the Secret Circle vs Beauty and the Beast? BATB is much cheaper to produce with easier locations to film than The Secret Circle. At the end of the day, the sudden ratings decline just didn’t warrant paying that much money. It all came down to budget and people not wanting to pay.

Does BATB need to do better? Yes. But since there’s been improvement in ratings and demos as well as the QUALITY of the writing there’s a chance it could gain new viewers. But I don’t think it has to do as well as TSC to get a pickup because it’s so much cheaper to make.

Also, once people realize that Catherine is not Lana (shocking, BUT the two characters are NOTHING alike) and that the show IS NOT the PILOT, it could catch on.

This show has the potential of Moonlight. If it can get that fanbase the show will be set.

  • SPM

    @ Autumn

I hope we continue to irritate them too and people like you.

  • Potato

I’d like to see some of these shows. Beauty and the Flop. The Flop Factor. Might make for good TV

    “They probably had no choice.”

    That.

    They have two replacement dramas.

Gossip Girl’s spot is opening up. Emily Owens is dead.

It was either more BATB or repeats.
