Beauty And The Beast just got a back nine order from the CW, making it the second of three freshmen series to get a full season from the network (Arrow was the first). Will this finally take Emily Owens MD off life support?

here's the official release:

THE CW ORDERS FULL SEASON OF FRESHMAN

Beauty And The Beast

November 9, 2012 (Burbank, CA) – The CW picked up a full season of its freshman hit drama Beauty And The Beast, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.

Beauty And The Beast stars Kristin Kreuk (“Smallville,” “Chuck”) as Catherine, Jay Ryan (“Terra Nova”) as Vincent, Max Brown (“The Tudors,” “MI-5”) as Evan, Nina Lisandrello (“Nurse Jackie”) as Tess, Nicole Gale Anderson (“Make It or Break It”) as Heather, Austin Basis (“Life Unexpected”) as J.T., and Brian White (“The Shield,” “The Cabin in the Woods”) as Joe.

Last night’s Beauty And The Beast was up 9% in total viewers versus last week, and also grew in all key adult demos week to week. Season to date, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is averaging 2.4 million viewers and a 1.3 rating among women 18-34, and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-34, in most current Nielsen data.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Take 5 Productions/Whizbang Films with executive producers Sherri Cooper (“Brothers and Sisters”) & Jennifer Levin (“Without A Trace,” “Felicity”), Brian Peterson (“Smallville”) & Kelly Souders (“Smallville”), Gary Fleder (“Life Unexpected,” “October Road”), Bill Haber (“Rizzoli & Isles,” “Thurgood”), Paul J. Witt (“A Better Life”) & Tony Thomas (“A Better Life”), Ron Koslow (“Moonlight”),  Frank Siracusa (“The Yard”) and John Weber ("Borgias").

This show is awful but I can’t stop watching it. Just like Smallville, it has horrible scripts but the cast is keeping me glued. Max brown is too good for CW. He belongs on HBO shows.

Telling people to shut up because you don’t like what they say which happens to be true? Very classy.

as autumn said KK &JR have chemistry . as much as i love arrow i dont have that feeling that i get when watching these two together. glad it got picked up. cant wait to see the rest of the season.

Emily Owens wont get any more eps. Repeats of anything could do the same.

@ Brandy… I know that The CW plans to air new seasons/cycles of ANTM, Oh Sit! and Breaking Pointe this summer. What I said was the only two non-reality shows “mid-season” (winter-spring) that I’m aware of are Cult and TCD and TCD already has a spot lined up.

After the Fall finale of ANTM, The CW has scheduled Arrow reruns Fridays at 9 thru I-forget-what-date in January 2013, as well as moving Nikita back to 8, so The CW could replace Arrow reruns with Cult encores or quickly cobble up a new reality show to replace the encores Fridays at 9 if The CW wants 10 hours of original programing thru winter -2013.

I don’t think The CW has any new, scripted programing to replace one of original programing ready; I’m assuming that EO will not get a “back 9″ order and TCD is already scheduled to replace GG. “One Hour” will go to Cult.

    SHOCKING!!!
I’m shocked. CW must have NO FAITH in their midseason shows! crazy! Whats next? OWEN gets the back 9, too?

  • Charmed

What’s the point, it will end up the same as The Secret Flop.

  • Holly

    @BigBrotherFan,

The CW only has two midseason shows (Carrie Diaries and Cult). Gossip Girl is ending with The Carrie Diaries taking its place. They can’t cancel both BATB and Emily Owens unless they plan on airing reruns every week.

  • Charmed

Emily Owens WILL NOT get a full season, even The CW knows there is no saving that flop.

its actually doing well considering it beats 4-5 other shows.
now quality is a whole other issue, its gotten better, but its a typical cbs procedural show.

Hey, Autumn The people you criticize for commenting on B&B are, to a great extent, ridiculing the show and the few who write in support of it. Put succinctly: Neither Kristin Kreuk nor jay Ryan are convincing in their roles. Ryan looks ridiculous in his Beast mode and Kreuk’s partner/gal pal is a laughable caricature of a “streetwise” cop. If Kreuk didn’t have such a limited range as an actress, this might work as a comedy show.

This show is so horrid, I don’t know how they can do this to me!

  • Nick

I think they’ll put this behind Hart of Dixie. It’ll stay behind TVD until January ends. Then they premiere Cult (which will certainly have a large premiere but might drop) behind TVD during February sweeps. B&TB moves to Tuesdays at 9 once Emily Owens finishes its 13. I know Dixie/Beauty is a terrible combination, but Dixie/Cult is worse.

Im glad i love this show

After a long while a show actually made a week wait really hard for me, all thnx to the intense team up of Jay and Kristin, and lately i like J.T aswell.
it sure deserves even a second season, the writers are weak in keeping it gathered and focused, but the main story is the driving heart, the last episode was although better scriptwise, so iäm hopefull on them getting better and better with time! thnx to CW for giving it a chance, weak writers or not, its probably the only ‘refreshing’ show out there.
As for arrow, they have good writers, the couple is still a fail to me, unlike BatB where they grabbed my attention at first sight, but i like the Diggle and oliver team up which made me actually watch the show to start with, but the writers need some refreshment, its getting kinda solid and constant already.
so enjoying these shows. as for the rest, TVD, getting really boring, its like the same story, the same reacts over and over only in diff versions.

anyhow, i really hope cw works more on BatB, with just some new writers and some revamps it has potential to go from great to amazing, considering the intensity thats there despite other things lacking, which is what most shows lack. Personlly its the only show i am really inrested in and care for among others i just watch to watch.

Wtf do people compare this to TSC saying that it won’t get renewed because TSC got cancelled with better numbers? Shows don’t get judged on random shows from last year, but in context with their current competition. And the fact is, BatB is doing better than many series currently on The CW.

I think Beauty and the Male Model will go the way of Secret Circle. And no, I’m not an SC fan. I heard the initial reports that adults were laughing at the pilot at bits that were not supposed to be funny. I didn’t care enough to check it out. It did not threaten my only CW show, Supernatural, so I didn’t care one way or the other. I agree it got canceled because of the ratings. While not as bad as Ringer, SC was on a downward trajectory. When it was SC v. Hart, the decision to try a “female medical night” went in Hart’s favor. It may have been a bad decision in retrospect, but I do not believe it was a bad decision at the time. Then it was SC v. Nik. There was nowhere to move SC but Friday, where past experience showed a show would lose viewers. Nik was already there with low, but consistent ratings. Nik won. For all the “Mr. P. hates my show,” if SC had maintained its initial 1.3 or even a third of that, he would have sent the show roses. And publicity? The only show I watched regularly on the CW last year was SPN (and Hart if there was nothing better on), and I saw many, many previews of the pretty teenagers posing and trying to look soulful.

I agree with the person who posted that the title “Beauty & the Beast” is misrepresentation in advertising. I dare anyone who is not familiar with the show – look at that picture. Which one is the beast? They look like twins. Beauty and the Hulk perhaps (I’ve heard he “hulks” out). Reviewers were saying that, if the CW had a sense of humor, they would think it brilliant irony – OMG, he’s a beast! He has a scar! (Where?) Where is the beast? Is he hiding behind the male model? Viewers of the Walking Dead are not impressed. One other reviewer urged viewers to watch it because it was so bad it was funny.

  • shouichi

    What about SPN?? D:

  • ann

    It’ll only last one season.

How come whenever BATB is discussed TSC fans have to come in? TSC wasnt canned for BATB!!! Stop blaming this show for TSC failure. It was canned and BATB replaced its timeslot.
We dont know how BATB will end up. It can drop or rise or stay steady. Wait and see. Im really enjoying the show so far and its getting better every epi.
