'Days Of Our Lives' SCORES A 10-WEEK HIGH AMONG WOMEN 18-49
IN THE VALUABLE WOMEN 18-34 DEMO, ‘DAYS’ MATCHES ITS HIGHEST RATING IN NEARLY A YEARUNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – November 9, 2012 – “Days Of Our Lives” has delivered a 10-week high in women 18-49 and matched its best women 18-34 rating in nearly a year, according to “live plus same day” ratings results for the week of October 29-November 2 from Nielsen Media Research.

Note that Nielsen considers the October 29-November 2 week a "breakout" due to extensive disruptions caused by Hurricane Sandy and the week's results will not be included in season program averages.

For the week, "Days Of Our Lives" averaged a 0.9 rating, 5 share among women 18-49 and a 0.6 rating among women 18-34, to tie for #5 among network daytime series in the women 18-49 demographic and tie for #4 in the women 18-34 race.

"Days" delivered its top women 18-49 and women 18-34 ratings since August 20-24 and equaled its highest women 18-34 rating since the week of November 21-15, 2011.

Season to date, "Days Of Our Lives" is tied for #5 in the women 18-49 category and tied for #4 in the women 18-34 demo. In total viewers, "Days" is up this season versus last by 2 percent (2.603 million vs. 2.558 million).

Ratings reflect “live plus same day” data from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of “live plus seven day” data except for the two most recent weeks, which are “live plus same day.”

WOW GH!!! Any ideas who it is?

  • Mike

I don’t understand any network wasting time to promote any ratings that they already know is not going to count in the season to date ratings. The press release says that the ratings won’t count due to all the outages.

I guess when you don’t get the chance to toot your horn that often, I guess you just go for it.

If there were that many outages that even Nielsen won’t count the ratings, how in the world do you even know if the ratings are accurate at all.

IA Mike, I don’t get the point of this spin, other then Days/NBC trying to delude themselves and their viewers into thinking they’re showing improvement.

  • Mike

Well I guess they and CBS feel like they have a chance to toot their horn since ABC has been spinning some pretty unimpressive ratings recently for their shows too.

I would like to know how long a person has a nelisen box?Seem by then noone is fateful to one soap.We apparently change soaps every week.

  • Mike

I have no idea on the exact time frame on a Nielsen box, but have heard some say that usually no more than a year or two and then they take them out and give them to someone new.

As to being faithful to one show, the soaps have been bouncing viewers back and forth for years now. If one network is up the others are down. That is what you get when you do plot writing instead of character writing. People jump around to watch plots come to a head and then they are out and come back when there is another big stunt.

I’ve seen queries about ABC/Disney’s financial outlook – Interesting article at Newsweek re., ABC’s ad revenue being down. The “comments” are interesing as well.

    Oops! correction – BusinessWeek!

  • Mike

I don’t see anything interesting about the comments LynTX — same old tired stuff we have been hearing over and over for way too long now. I am just glad that fans of Passions, ATWT, and GL have some sense of decency and know how to act like adults. Shows being cancelled is part of life. You deal with it and go on. It has gotten so old I don’t even go to soap opera sites anymore. Just have no use for them and no use to even read the same old crap anymore. Its funny I used to love going into them and discuss the shows. I usually over here just read the press releases as they seem to be okay. Now the ratings thread, I posted in there the first time this week. There are some really scary and rude folks in there. I won’t be visiting that thread again.

@ Linda– Are you talking about “fake Duke”? My guess is Faison.

  • Rich

Yeah, I am either going with FAISON or…….Dr. David Haywood

  • Daysgal

cc, dool is improving, get over it. I hope ALL Soaps survive! I don’t get people who don’t watch soaps but comment on here. Sure it’s a free country and all but really?! You read the spoilers but don’t watch. It’s a little weird.

  • Linda

Ooh! I thought about Faison, but dr. David never crossed my mind. He was married to Anna…

  • Kayla Rae

Way to go, DOOL!!! Days is by far the best qualiity soap on television! Let’s go for another 47 years, Days!!!
