Definitions:

DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data LiveLive+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.

Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.

Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate

Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

    @CrimTV

    I don’t really think relative ratings would change then.

  • KS

    All those Supernatural fans who hated “Bitten”. What are you going to say now? So it’s the Halloween that resulted in loss of viewers, not the episode.

  • Kavyn

    According to SPM’s logic, Nikita’s a hit! Hah.

  • The End

    Well done Nielsen viewers DVRing 666 Park Avenue, if only you had watched live. Nevermind hey.

  • david

    So i think that confirms that people are not really watching Nikita or not very many peope are watching Emily Owens. Most people must be watching Arrow live then. A .4 is bad for any original episode of a show and by the way i am a fan of Nikita. Wow a 2.0 for TVD. To bad that is not the live rating. Super Natural rose alot.

  • Bright

    Hi @Sara, @Bill, and @Robert,

    I would really appreciate knowing Mockingbird Lane’s Live + 7 Days numbers, if it’s possible, please. Do you know it? Thank you so much.

  • Temis

    I’m also curious about Mockingbird Lane.

  • ZmaX

    Is there anyway to find out Arrow’s Live+7 DVR ratings? i’m interested to see how high it actually goes.

    It’s a bit disappointing it isn’t getting DVR ratings like The Vampire Diaries.

  • Martin

    Hi, can anyone get the live+7 numbers for Arrow and Emily Owens, M.D., please??

  • RS

    @KS: I hated “Bitten.” That’s all I need to say. If other people liked it, I’m happy for them. If the story had aired on an anthology series such as “Night Gallery” I would have simply considered it a miss (Night Gallery and the Zone had plenty of those – as well as the classics we all love). That Bitten pretended to be my SPN, when it had nothing to do with SPN other than cameo appearances by the brothers Winchester is the reason for my hatred.

  • Shaula

    @KS

    October 22-28 wasn’t the Halloween week.

    @RS

    Yes, what you said!

  • KS

    @RS

    I don’t usually care about the screen time of a character. I only consider how important the character in the episode/the series.

    I am perfectly happy to watch

    I don’t remember if you said that, but a lot of people on that day claimed that ratings dropped because of the poor quality of the episode. But DVR ratinsg prove it to be wrong, at least as far as Nielsen viewers are considered.

  • John A

    All CW shows perform alful on DVR not just Nikita.

  • glover

    @KS

    My problem with Bitten is that this Supernatural episode was ripped off the movie Chronicle. If I wouldn’t seen the movie I probably would have considered this an OK episode but I hate this lack of criativity.

    About the article: LOL at Nikita. Even with DVR numbers it only matched the Gossip Girl live numbers. HAHAHA it’s just unbelievable.

  • John A

    All CW shows perform awful on DVR not just Nikita.

  • JR

    Thanks for posting the numbers, as always. Any reason the ranked numbers aren’t part of the post? Also, how about the number of non-repeat/non-special programs for the week? They were part of the reports last year. Thanks. :)

  • Mark Wood

    KS

    What are you talking about. The first three weeks of the season have all had a 1.4 in adults 18-49 with Live Plus 7, so a 1.2 is worse. That includes an episodes that live same day started at .8 and 1.0. Now who knows what the reason is, for myself I still have yet to watch it, and that’s just odd.

    Live plus 7 viewers for the first three weeks (when I get this weeks I will add it).

    2.86 million
    3.35 million
    2.95 million

  • Mark Wood

    David

    Arrow could have gained On average between .5 and .6 and not had a high enough percentage to make the list. It seems to do percentage wise worse then most shows on the CW, which is a good thing. Remember shows have a higher change of commercial viewing with live same day then with extended DVR viewing.

  • Mark Wood

    SPN full season to date viewer gain average is the highest on the CW at 41.6%.

    KS.
    SPN was down .2 in live plus 7 for this week versus any episode this season. Why that decline is impossible to accurately judge but with heavier then normal half hours
    Declines quality, subject matter, or even filming style are certainly possible.

  • dan

    Good for Nashville really enjoying it! And Nikita is such a great show, i really hope it gets a fourth season.
