16 All-New Season 9 Episodes to Debut in January 2013

NEW YORK – November 13, 2012 – Ghost Hunters, Syfy’s longest-running original reality series, returns for a ninth season this winter. Sixteen all-new Season 9 episodes are slated to premiere beginning January 16, 2013 at 9 PM ET/PT.

Ghost Hunters has proven itself to be an enormously popular paranormal series that continues to evolve successfully with each new season,” said Mark Stern, President Original Content, Syfy and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions. “While the Ghost Hunters mission of helping those in need remains at the heart of each investigation, we’re thrilled by the increased scope of the cases being undertaken and the series’ revitalized style and energy, all of which contribute to making Ghost Hunters an even more vibrant, visually stimulating and exciting experience going into its ninth season.”

In Season 9, fans can look forward to seeing the TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) team’s latest innovations in ghost hunting equipment and techniques, as they use more technology than ever before to capture evidence of paranormal activity. TAPS - led by Jason Hawes - will investigate new, high-profile locations across the country, while continuing its mission of helping families in need of assistance from the Ghost Hunters.

Since its Season 8 mid-season premiere on September 5, Ghost Hunters has averaged 1 million viewers in Adults 18-49, 1.3 million viewers in Adults 25-54 and 2.2 million total viewers (all data Live +7). The midseason premiere was also the paranormal series' most-watched premiere since August 2010.

Season 8 continues through December 5, wrapping up with a special holiday investigation at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut.

Since its 2004 premiere, Ghost Hunters has spawned two spin-offs with over 200 episodes among the three series, cementing its place as the No. 1 paranormal franchise on cable. For more than eight years, Ghost Hunters has set the standard for paranormal series, offering viewers spine-tingling investigations by the TAPS team.

Ghost Hunters is produced for Syfy by Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Studios (Dirty Jobs, The Ultimate Fighter, Top Shot). Piligian and Thomas Thayer, along with Mike Nichols and Alan David, serve as executive producers.

I guess something has to happen to you to believe. This may be entertainment but, to some it answers there questions. To each there own. Live on Ghost Hunters! Oh yea, bring BARRY to America.

Who cares if its fake or not, its entertainment, if you honestly don’t like it don’t watch it.

eddie- i totally agree, i really miss grant. just doesn’t feel the same with out him :c

What the guy next door heard one of the ghosts whisper was not nice. Angry words were exchanged and I made the mistake of threatening to invoke Angra Mainyou to kick their ghostly butts.

  • AppleStinx

Where was I? Oh, ok. After the heated exchange the guy next door was so nervous, I had to guide him back to his home next door. Then I tried to get some sleep but the ghosts kept grabbing my feet.

I think it’s great the show has been renewed, but I have a feeling the lesser episode count (sixteen) points to the fact Sy Fy doesn’t take the show as seriously now as is in the past. Also, I wish it would move to another night, in all honesty. My favorite show “Supernatural” airs opposite it now on Wednesday’s. “Supernatural” comes first, to me, when it comes to which show to watch. I watch SPN at 9 p.m. and then watch “Ghost Hunters” at 11 p.m.

Jason has managed to get rid of the questionable people who were with him in the beginning EXCEPT…Grant is very much missed and this was a great partnership. I really wish he were back in the fold. I know some don’t but I like the investigations in old buildings rather than just in people’s homes. If they are only going to have 16 new episodes each season then the program should really go to a two hour format. For those who don’t like the program or think it’s faked…that’s when you change the channel and watch something else. Love Steve and Tango, Britt and Amy are great and love the guest investigators as well. Meatloaf enjoyed himself so much he should be a regular! Hope to see you guys for many more seasons…and hopefully Grant will eventually return!

  • Della

I hope that Grant is doing better and to bring him back. The show isn’t as good without him. At least they wait for a split second more for the answer to their question.

I wish people would wise up, these so called ghost stories are fake. As a matter of fact this show has been debunked on many occasions. I don’t watch crap like this and I wish they would get rid of it but I suppose there are enough sheeple who watch and believe so the network makes their pound of gold. I think it should be put on a children’s network for the pot generation to watch because adults with a brain don’t.

Epilogue: the Spanish-speaking ghost is learning to live with me. He still thinks that this house is his, and things can become tense. Just the other day, the guy next door said he heard the ghost whisper: “¡Fuera de aquí, manzana ramera!¡Fuera!” I think the guy next door is a troublemaker.

  • Betty Anderson

Best show on tv. To the naysayers who say this is fake, if you haven’t experienced a paranormal event, it’s understandable I guess. I have personally had a few.

  • Betty Anderson

Keep up the good work, Love your show!!!
