NCIS: LOS ANGELES" HAS DRAMATIC EFFECT ON COMPETING COMEDIES

Dominates Time Period in Viewers and Has Strong Advantage in Demos

NCIS: LOS ANGELES, television's #2 drama, is dominating its time period in viewers and has a strong advantage in adults 18-49 versus competing comedy hours, according to Nielsen most current ratings through Nov. 14.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES tops the NBC, ABC and FOX comedy hours combined in viewers (18.02m vs. 17.44m) and also wins its 9:00-10:00 PM time period in adults 18-49, placing ahead of NBC's "Go On" and "The New Normal," ABC's "Happy Endings" and "Don't Trust The B….in Apt 23," and FOX's "New Girl" and "The Mindy Project."

    I’m not sure what’s more surprising: CBS PR figuring out how to make graphs, or acknowledging 18-49 over 25-54

  • Jeff (Canada)

    I like graphs! I hope they put out more in the future.

    @Oliver

    They only acknowledge 18-49 in this graph since they’re winning the demo. If they were losing that battle, it’d be a 25-54 graph, or just the viewers.

    I agree though that at least one of the comedy networks has to give here. There’s no way that 3 hours of comedy can compete with each other. My guess is ABC cracks first, moving DWTS results back to 9 for the next cycle and doing something else at 8 (maybe sneak in a new drama premiere in Jan or Feb before the Voice returns in late March?

    1: You can bet New Girl had the advantage in A18-34.
    2: Total viewers are meaningless, but beating the other 3 networks* combined is still impressive.

    * The CW is technically a netlet, not a full fledged network. That’s the way it is. Calm down CW fans.

    I take issue with the “Has Dramatic Effect” part.

    They can brag about winning, but the only dramatic effect is being done by the comedies themselves.

    It’s just a shame! If its a quality drama, I would say GO NCIS LA, but this is just scary! All of the 6 comedies makes more effort, then one episode of this…i dont want to say the word

    I believe Criminal Minds is actually a nudge ahead of LA this season. This is due to Criminal Minds’s ratings increasing ever so slightly in relative terms, nothing to do with LA’s ratings.

    The other networks put their comedies on at the same time and the drama does better! Quelle surprise! This explains why the overall numbers for LA are closer to NCIS.

    Go CBS!
