Definitions: Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

“Numbers for Whitney weren’t great but no disaster either…it needs time to settle into the slot and gain momentum again, its been off the air for a long time and people need to refamiliarize themselves with it. I also don’t think NBC’s expectations for it in that slot are very high, if it ticks up after tenths in the coming weeks it should be ok.”

That’s the good thing for both Whit and GWK, now GWK doesn’t have a super weak lead-in anymore. I think that would be a good strategy to allow these two comedies to settle in and let the audience gravitate towards them. Whitney didn’t have that much time last year when it moved to Wednesdays to gain momentum. Now its got a full season to work with so its likely going to grow later in the season.

Arrow seems like the equivalent of a big tentpole film. Doesn’t have to have huge demos in one particular category — it does great across the board and that makes it the total viewer hit that it is. Plus it’s male demos have to be huge for CW, great with advertisers.

Also I’m so glad its lifting Supernatural, that show is still so good.

  • Big Tim

Comments about broadcast tv, especially the comedies, are like a homeless guy picking through a garbage can. All a bunch of crap. Small wonder that folks are drifting off to watch shows about pawn shops and storage lockers. How much worse can it get?

  • Jonathan

    I care :))

  • Marge

And the 13th season of CSI keeps rolling along. Yea for the good guys.

  • Jonathan

I look for X Factor ratings to increase tonight too because Taylor Swift is performing. Could have a bump because of that.

  • Ram510

I’m so sad about Guys With Kids I had to walk away from the computer. I wish it was doing better, can’t the give it a Voice lead in for a week it would do better than Chicago Fire

  • RG-X

    Another Great Aroow episode –

Saw most of X-Factor – Britney says like one short sentence to ALL the contestants – the girls sound like they don’t knowwhat they aretalking about –

Simon IS a genius – last season the groups were all gone in the first weeks – these groups have great direction – al though the boy group was at their worst.

Christina VS Britney – this is why The Voice is killing X Factor – Christina although off her mark sometimes makes a way better judge than Britney – also the hosts of the X-Factor stink –

Simon you’re great with the contestants – it’s the panel & hosts that you are still wrong – X Factor has some more re-tooling to do!

  • JD

Boot the Neighbours, switch it with Happy Endings. Suburgatory is kind of killing Nashville, I really like both but Sub. isn’t holding onto ModFam’s numbers well at all.

  • Jonathan

Britney does great mentoring the contestants though. Demi has destroyed her teams chances of winning while Britney’s team keeps getting stronger!

  • RG-X

    Glad CSI is still strong!

  • RG-X

    @Jonathan –

I agree; Demi is messing up her team – most of her team will be gone first.

  • Jonathan

I loved CeCe during the auditions, but she is unrecognizable now! Remember when she sang Whitney Houston against Paige and was like incredible? Where did she go!? I really wish Britney was mentoring CeCe and Paige.

  • mula

@jonathan: ita. britney’s great at nurturing those kids. they’re all coming into their own and carly is OWNING thanks in part to britney

@RG-X: i agree that they have re-tooling to do but mario lopez is a fantastic host imo. khloe needs to go though. ita that simon has done wonders with the groups. the girls group and even emblem 3 are improving tremendously. had any other coach been mentoring them. they would’ve been eliminated by now.

  • mula

and yes, demi is an idiot. lol. all her contestants are unrecognizable. don’t like what she’s done with paige or jennel either

  • Mickey

    This all that Jamie said:

Really happy Supernatural didn’t fall in its half hours this week.

And @BigBrotherFan this is just a bit of what you said:

WHO CARES if SUPERNATURAL FElL .1 or not between half hours-Its doing exceptionally well. Holy crap is this how the boards are going now ARROW+SUPERNATURAL=ARGUMENTS THAT ARE SO NOT NEEDED? Both shows are doing well MOVE ON!CASE CLOSED!

Why not talk about the trainwreck that is SUBERGATORY losing nearly half of MF lead-in.

Or how bad fox is doing with the pricey x-factor?

Complaining that other posters are ranting would work better if you were not the one doing the ranting.

  • Jonathan

@Mula Completely agree. Simon has really helped the group category!

  • Freyja

And who the hell is still watching Supernatural?

Really you had to ask that question?

I am still watching it, have been since the first episode of season one. ;) I will say last nights episode was the strongest the show’s been since season 4 it was awesome.

It’s almost like SPN has that spark back, that’s been missing.. (And no I don’t mean CAS) I just mean literally…Glad Jeremy is doing a good job getting the show back on track.

  • Jonathan

@Mula She really is! She is a good judge but she is sucking at mentoring. I feel so bad for CeCe! Demi destroyed her! She was so confident and fun at first!

  • BigBrotherFan

“Christina VS Britney – this is why The Voice is killing X Factor – Christina although off her mark sometimes makes a way better judge than Britney – also the hosts of the X-Factor stink –”

AGREED 100%! Xtina is a way better judge and the judges chemistry on the voice doesn’t seem so forced like X-FACTOR. It’s like the try so very hard and it comes across as too dramatic. I enjoy the judges on the voice much more. NOT TO MENTIONED THAT HOST! I’M NO HUGE FAN CARSON DALY But MARIO LOPEZ is bad. REALLY REALLY really bad! If anything he hurts the show. Khardashian is OKAY but I cant help but think people might not even bother because her name is attached to it meaning KARSASHIANS in general. There is ALOT of hate directed at them.
