The Cancellation Bear is beginning his Thanksgiving feast a week early. Just a few hours after the cancellation of Partners, two more shows have been axed. Per The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has canceled its freshman dramas Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue. Each show will air all 13 episodes that were shot, but will not continue beyond episode 13, despite the additional scripts that were ordered. There is already some speculation that Nashville could take over 666 Park Avenue's time period. We will post more details as they become available.

Not surprised. The odds were against 666.

    @ Dochas

Now I have to take back my statement. Never start moving shows around! No soup for you!

    @ Rebecca

That’s what I’ve done for decades–just enjoy the ep’s while they last, as something else always comes along. Happy BD to you!

So now comes the big dilemma. Do I watch 666 this week to see what’s down the staircase? Or do I cut my losses now, knowing that I’ll probably be ‘treated’ to a never-resolved cliff-hanger in a few more weeks anyway, so why draw out the pain?

I’ll probably just DVR it and it will sit there for months until I’m bored and watch it anyway, or delete it because I need the space.

    @The Old Man
Thank you. Seeing so many new shows heading to the bear’s cave broke me in quickly.

    If I had to guess:

Private Practice -> Body of Proof
Last Resort -> Wife Swap -> Zero Hour
666 Park Ave -> Red Widow

Mistresses follows The Bachelorette in Summer 2013 as planned.

I gave the first episode of Last Resort a try but thought it was just ok. The writing needed some work and in the pilot there were missiles that traveled 500+ miles in about 30 seconds meaning they were going an absurd 60,000 mph or more.

Sorry to see it cancelled though as I would have given it another chance if it has been renewed for a second season.

I can easily see Nasville moving to Sundays after Revenge. It would seem more compatible & hopefully move up & stay over 2.0. Then maybe relocate both HE & Apt 23 to Wed at 10 pm & create a 3 hr comedy block. Place a new drama on Tues at 9pm & probably Wipeout on Thur.

How another new curse the Brothers & Sisters curse? They haven’t gotten anything going there since.

  • Skylar James

Its really been a terrible fall for new ABC shows.

  • Dóchas

    @The Old Man
Shhh. I don’t really want it to move. I like their Sunday line up. I do think they’re going to need a show that different for that 8pm slot. Nothing will be on par with TBBT but there has to a show that they cannot decimate.

    @ anon

“Mob Doctor” outlived them because she’s gone into the witness protection program. I highly doubt anyone will ever see her again.

I really wanted to like 666PA but it was just so “meh”. It never really gelled or found its footing and, sorry, but aside from Quinn and Williams there weren’t any actors on there I really cared to watch every week.

  • Kavyn

I don’t see how Nashville fits in with Revenge/Once?

  • Steven

I am going to miss Last Resort. It was my favorite new show of the season. Oh Well. I guess I will enjoy the few episodes that it has left.

  • KJ Styles

@Doches- “I really hate the bear today. Isn’t it time to hibernate? Fan Excuse Bingo or whatever, I still believe ABC handicapped Last Resort with that time slot. TBBT is a mammoth.”

I said that from when they first announced Last Resort to air on Thursdays at 8pm. It would have worked better at a less competitive timeslot. This really sucks. It’s the only new show I’ve liked thus far this season, and none of the midseason shows except for Hannibal even remotely interest me. If that bombs, then this will be the worst season for new shows EVER, or at least in recent memory.

Presumably all the remaining episodes will air if the ratings don’t make CW look good?

With these two cancellations by ABC, do you expect them to cancel another drama by winter? or Will they stay with what they have on the schedule?

Will they focus on the comedies next as the next targets? Apt. 23 and Happy Endings?

  • John A

Was all 666 Park Ave eps made? I assume since the sets were destroyed they wouldnt rebuild the sets to finish the 13 ordered.

    @ Michael

666 PA was too much of a soap in a way & I agree Sun’s ep was interesting & well plotted but its pacing constantly dragged.

AHS is more surreal than anything & the first half of this week’s ep was more like a foreign language art film from the early 60’s & since it’s set in 1964 I saw the concept.

“Dominique” is by the Singing Nun who committed suicide when she was 51, just barely into the 50+ Demo.

Uh oh, John Locke “Man of Rent Control” is not amused. Now he will turn the donkey wheel and make ABC vanish.
