Deadline reports that CBS has canceled freshman comedy Partners and will pull it from the schedule immediately. This week it earned a series low 1.8 adults 18-49 rating. No replacement has been announced, but CBS's sturdy relief pitcher Rules of Engagement is likely to take over the time period until mid-season series Friend Me debuts.

Update: CBS is replacing the Monday, November 19 episode of Partners with a repeat of Two and a Half Men.

“His language insinuates oddity”? Now, no-one talks like that in real life.

  • Jeff R.

Time for a new ‘next to be cancelled’ poll (which will be won by The Mob Doctor again even though both Emily Owens and Last Resort will probably have their chops announced before The MD.)

  • Petar Ivanov

By the way better try first friend me……if this collapse faster than partners and rules 13 ep order is ended CBS will look really dump. Than what they will put there again repeats…

  • Dat

@nikki: yea I see episodes of Partner. If CBS gives it time it might do well. Oh well.

@Oliver: oh, so you’re One’s long lost brother. I see.

  • Max

    Finally!! Now bring back Rules!

  • Nikki

@Dat its to bad they didnt give it a little more time it was holding steady and getting better with each episode.

  • Oliver

I’m just bored and enjoying the irony.

Anyway, back to the topic in hand. It seems odd that they are pulling it now. Its ratings have been getting closer to the rest of the Monday lineup, and I don’t expect TaaHM repeats to do any better. Why not just let it finish out its run?

The burnoffs of Partners may do OK on Saturday night.

    NBC 1
    ABC 0
    FOX 0

Hey! Other me! I can almost swallow the fact that you don’t believe that presenting yourself properly on the Internet is necessary (seriously, not using proper English is like going shopping in a ratty pair of sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt from the ’80s), but please stop engaging the troll. He’s only picking on you because you were the first to be sad about the show being cancelled.

And because you’re buying groceries in sweats.

  • CrimTV

Does anyone know how many episodes were shot before it was cancelled?

  • S.

According to Th Vulture it is only a surprise if you ignore that how much CBS got for spot during Partners, $162,000 per spot. Millions of dollars of ad time already sold. If they pull the show advertisers are no longer under contract.

With the shows on, CBS only has to offer make-goods, extra add time to compensate for lower than expected ratings. I guess now was when the gains of the over-priced ads were off-set by the cost of make-goods.

Why bother? They canceled Saturday night comedy repeats after one season. And they’re also coffining Made In Jersey on that night right now. I say let the episodes sink to the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen by anyone other than a disgruntled Nina Tassler.

Partners was to CBS what Allen Gregory/Napolean Dynamite was to Fox. Allen Gregory/Napolean Dynamite aired in between The Simpsons and Family Guy and the ratings went way down for the programs. Partners airing in between How I Met Your Mother and Two Broke Girls lost viewers. These shows are proof that a program that airs in between two highly watched shows can still drop in the ratings. I am surprised that it lasted as long as it did, but, no one can say CBS did not give it a chance.
Awaiting the return of Rules of Engagement.
About giving Rules of Engagement a full pickup, instead of treating it like the “ugly duckling” on the CBS schedule. How about giving the program some respect, seeing how many times it’s been called upon to fill a time slot by CBS.

    @Crim TV

My guess would be 8 maybe but i’m hoping they might burn off the last couple on a Saturday and I was actually starting to enjoy the series and had a few laughs aswell but as long as rules of engagement comes back sooner than expected I’ll be happy with that

  • yOlO

Wow, i think this is the first real comment fight i have seen on TVBTN. Nice

CrimTV — I’m not 100%, but I believe they just shot ep 13. I know they were due to complete 13 just before T-giving.

Surprised it lasted this long… the writing was uneven and the casting was abysmal.

  • Charmed

Expect The Mob Doctor to be canceled shortly…….

  • Timmy G

The last few episodes were better but honestly the best part of the show was the theme song. Here’s to Sophia Bush and the next pilot season!

  • Oliver

CBS will air any remaining episodes on Saturday because they always do.

I wonder how many they filmed. Episode 7 was broadcast on Monday, so there’s likely at least 4 unaired episodes, possibly more.

  • Oliver

    I didn’t realise they’d already filmed all 13.

I guess they had to decide whether to expand the order this week and, since they didn’t, they decided to go the whole hog and pull it.
