I can’t believe this SPN vs Arrow vs TVD nonsense. The 3 highest rated shows on the CW…

Actually the 18-49 doesn’t matter to CW that much either, it’s some young chicks demo that they are keen on. Besides playing the demo game when it’s a hair off is useless. The fact that tvd only has 2/3rd of the viewership of Arrow on the other hand.

Well pop the corn and pull up a chair. TVbtN has the old magic back. I was missing the utter insanity that was Saturday comments last year. Come to find out it moved to Fridays. Vampire Diaries vs Arrow wars – bwah!!! First I’ve heard of such a thing and this time it isn’t desperation to keep a show afloat. Can’t wait until someone claims that the anti-VD faction also comes from disgruntled Dair (is that the right name?) fans who are bitter that their love triangle is over while the VD one flourishes.

I am a Supernatural fan. This summer I did hope that Arrow and Beauty and the Beast would do better than Vampire Diaries. Is it because I have some latent hate on for VD because Supernatural went to Fridays two years ago and thrived there? Of course not. I was good with SPN on Fridays. I wanted Arrow and Beauty and the Beast to be giant hits for only one reason – to keep the CW afloat. I want 2 of the new shows next season to be bigger than VD also for the same reason. I don’t care one jot about who is on top as long as there are enough on top to keep new Supernatural episodes on my TV set. Without the CW there is no Supernatural so good luck to all their shows.

Glee at 2.1, yikes! It’s lucky it will have American Idol lead in next year so it won’t likely fall below 2.0

  • jules

@Jane. Oh my, and Grey’s Anatomy fans NEVER gloat do they?

  • Tessa

Well put. I want the mothership afloat so that it’s adorable Supernatural babies have a place to live. If the solution to that are non-sparkly vampires, a beast and his girl, and a man in a Robin Hood outfit fighting crime then good luck to all of them.

Glee has gotten a lot better these days. I wish people could see that and start back watching. Seriously.

I’d LIKE to want to watch Elementary, but I just can’t let myself buy Lucy Liu as Watson. I just can’t do it.

I think a smarter move would have been to dump 666 Park Ave, move Nashville there and try Last Resort after Suburgatory on Wednesday for the remaining 13 episodes. Burn 666 Park off during the summer. If they were considering a full-season based on the numbers they had it had a shot growing — but not in such a competitive slot. It’s been a hard sell for ABC in that slot for years. It’s where you stick an established show that isn’t growing (Castle?) — not a series you want people to sample. The casual viewers are likely going to flip to The Big Bang Theory if they’re bored and looking for something. It’s got name recognition, they’ve likely seen it before and like it enough to try that above a new scripted show they’ve likely heard nothing about.

Big Bang is a word of mouth type show. The syndication daily just fuels it too. Episodes in syndication outrank those numbers for CW, NBC and ABC many times a week. It’s a monster. ABC needs to not try a new series there for a big. Toss a veteran there and see if it holds, it probably will not but if it’s procedural in nature (Castle, etc) it’s got a shot at holding week to week.

People really like blowing things out of proportion. I had a theory of the Hate Towards VD and the comparisons between Arrow and VD(Quality Wise), that’s it. I have nothing against SPN or Arrow. I hope the best for SPN and Arrow. But as a loyal VD fan, I naturally want VD to be on top, that’s all. And I’m such we all dealt with our fair Share of bitter fans through certain followings. Example, I’m reading an IGN review for one of the latest episodes of VD and someone comments “I cant believe people watch this trash instead of quality shows like Nikita”. Remember this is just an example, I’m not knocking Nikita or its following but people have a tendency of blowing things out of proportion. I hope the CW does well and we shouldn’t fight over what better but most likely this “fight” will continue in two weeks. Peace!!!! Watch VD on Netflix.

    Yay!!!!!! no adujustments for POI

  • MattFitz

The problem with Glee is its in the worst timeslot it has alot of the same demos as greys and poi and is losing to them it needs to go back to Tues at 9pm it can beat GOON and ABC and thats a weak night for cbs

  • CrimTV

Just looking at the ratings for the first season of TBBT and it was hitting 2.6-2.8’s at some points, and now it’s got a 5.7! wow! I thought it was a series high but in season 3 it had some 5.9’s and a 6.0

  • Allison

The Vampire Diaries is still the best- I don’t really care about Arrow as long as its ratings help support the CW. A fair amount of the insane hate comes from Nikita fans- I don’t know why, with or without it, their show would still be spiralling on Fridays.

Arrow fans need to chill though, the crazy ones. The only time I get competitive is when they slam the show. I don’t understand why Superntural fans hate on Vampire Diaries but there are some very naive people if they think that this is all one sided.

And the absolute viewer numbers don’t matter- it’s all in the demos the network in question is after. That’s why Gossip Girl din’t meet an unfortunate demise in a trash compactor. All fans, get a grip. The Vampire Diaries, Arrow and Supernatural are helping the CW stay afloat and are not going to get cancelled, barring a last minute ratings crash in Arrow. Supernatural might get a final season notice, especially if the actors want out.

  • Hugh

    Thursday high for BBT?

  • Chris

Has Elementary been picked up or full season? It’s the best crime show on tv right now. It’s pulling in strong ratings!

  • Melissa

Well, on the plus side, Scandal‘s past six episodes have proven that the show is not lead-in dependent. Grey’s Anatomy has ranged from a 4.4 to a 3.0 this season, yet Scandal has consistently scored about a 2.0.

  • Ultima

Has Elementary been picked up or full season?

Yes, 24 episodes including the post-Super Bowl slot.

  • Juan

Can I just say how sad it is that last resort Is doing so bad, it’s my fav new show

  • were123

WOW, that is a Thursdays high for TBBT in the demo! Very impressive! At this rate it will hit 6s!
