Which New Broadcast TV Show Will Be Canceled Next? (Poll)

Categories: Broadcast TV

Just 4 hours after our last "Which New Broadcast Show Will Be Canceled Next?" poll, both 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort were canceled by ABC. 666 Park Avenue was #2 in that poll, while Last Resort was #4. The season's dinner menu for the Cancellation Bear has also included Partners, Made In Jersey, Animal Practice, Private Practice, and Next Caller.

Which show will be next on the menu of the Cancellation Bear?

I've also added the "A show not on this list" option if you think a veteran show will be canceled next.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

Because comment thread lawyers are everywhere, let's be clear that for the purposes of this poll "canceled" means removed from its initially scheduled timeslot, either off the air entirely or rescheduled to a burn off timeslot, even if the network *claims* the show will return later (two seasons ago those who answered The Whole Truth in the "next to be canceled" poll ended up being correct, it was removed first among the shows noted and never returned, despite initial ABC claims to the contrary).

What's your guess?

Vote as many times as you want!

The Mindy Project is just awful and shows no signs of improvement. Kaling just cannot carry a series (write them, yes; be a fun supporting player, yes). It’s both embarrassing and disappointing.

  • JakeSnake

I’m amazed they haven’t axed Mob Doctor already. Everyone knows it’s happening, but they just keep delaying the inevitable.

  • tomsman

The Mindy Project. Of all of the choices, it was the first thing that came to mind. That said, I’m stunned that Mob Doctor outlasted 666 and LR.

  • Justin121

Now that all of the certain ones are officially cancelled, this gets tough.

    Mob Doc outlasted

    Made in Jersey
    Animal Practice
    Praivate Practice
    Last Resort
    666 Park Avenue

Quite a feat for what was supposed to be the Lone Star of the year.

Back to the poll, in order:

    Mob Doc (less than 13)
    Emily Owens (13 and done)
Ben & Kate, Guys with Kids, Malibu Country (13-17 episodes)

The rest are likely to last through Spring (18-22 episodes).

    @ Nick

I would say pazsaz.com is very reliable if you look at all the other shows they have on their list for being renewed and cancelled. I think pazsaz and tvbythenumbers work together not sure would need to ask the 2 men who run this site. I don’t watch The New Normal but heard it is doing well.

  • ILoveSitcoms

Several of those choices have full season orders. They aren’t getting cancelled until the spring of 2013.

It’s got to be Mob Doctor. Is production still continuing on that series? Guys With Kids might be the only other show in any danger. Every other show is making it through their current episode order at least.

Hello justin21, basically i agree with your list, except keep hawaii five o and elementary out. These are two reallly good shows.

  • slddl

I think The Mob Doctor – both Emily Owens, MD and the good Doc is probably unofficially canned, but I believe The CW won’t announce it anytime soon, at least not until it’s finished it’s 13 episode run.

  • tscchope

Just because a showis going to have a fulleson does not mean it wo’t be canelled and not return for a second season.

The Mob Doctor doesn’t need a noffical cancellation – everyone it is not coming back. Fox is showing an unusual reluctance to announce cancellation of shows. Therefore , Idon’t see Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project having any official announcement

I reckon Touch ona Friday would get betweeen 0.5 and 1. From a ratings standpoint, as bad as Fringe is, they’d actually be bettrer off commissioning a back 9 for Fringe than airing any Touch and see if they can rediscover the formula that made it a ratings success in its first two years. Bet you never thought you’d see me advocate that, did you?

  • mayorofsmpleton

The poll is regarding which is the NEXT to go.

The fact that many received back-9 or more episodes means the networks are unlikely to cancel them until the season is over. Mob Doc and EO are sitting on 13 episode orders and thus seem like much likelier candidates to be cut early.

That said, I doubt either is given much of an official announcement. There’d be no reason unless they were getting replaced before midseason and it sounds like both will air the full 13 episodes.

How many episodes of Mob Doctor have been filmed? Anybody? TVBtN generally classifies a show as “cancelled” if it finishes its initial order of 13 and no more are ordered for the rest of the season, right? Hmm, is Fox going to try to keep this super-quiet? 13 and done, no announcements, unlike ABC which is very open about 666 and Last Resort being 13 and done? How quiet can they keep it? Twitter will out!

I still voted for Mob Doctor as the next cancellation. EOMD isn’t as likely because the CW doesn’t have much else. Fox could at least cough up a few reruns of Bones, so they could still conceivably shut down Mob Doc before the 13 are finished filming.

  • Jcc

Just started filming ep 11 – Jennifer beals – micheal madson – mike Starr added to the cast !

  • Ming

I expect Mob Doctor to be pulled next. Of course, if they pull something else (most likely Emily Owens, MD), Mob Doctor won’t be airing past December/January.

  • Austin Lauran

When a CBS, ABC, or NBC show has 24 episodes in its first season, you know that it’s getting renewed (Even if the shows have low ratings); on the other side, the 24-episode season order for a show could be cut by the CBS, ABC, or NBC execs (Depending on what network it is)

  • CP

Mob Doctor was too easy so I went with “a show not on the list”.

  • AppleStinx

Uh-oh. ‘The Mob Doctor’ is in trouble now… Its polling percentage fell below 40%.

  • RG-X

I voted Mob Dr. – but I didn’t see Vegas – that will be one of the next 3.

  • spycomics

It will be 1600 Penn. I’m convinced it will be god-awful and after one, maybe, just maybe two episodes, it will be the newest meal for Mr. Bear.

  • Tyson

Good to know Cancellation Bear had a fine pre-Thanksgiving feast. Might be a while before he eats again since sweeps ends Wednesday. If a show like The Mob Doctor has lasted this long, there’s no reason to cancel it in December.

  • tomko44

Sorry… the Mob Doctor is like a virus… it ain’t going away until they run out of episodes! I assumed it would disappear after the World Series, but it is still around. I guess they don’t have anything ready to replace it yet!
