It's now been well reported across the interwebs that Chevy Chase is departing the cast of Community after all but two of the thirteen episodes for this (its fourth) season have already been produced.

We at TV by the Numbers love Gawker and while the headline for this post was Robert's imagining of how they might do it, it was my pleasure to pull the trigger.

Community returns to NBC's schedule on February 7.

    @Potato “…I must call OTHER people stupid for enjoying things, because that is what we, the enlightened, do.

    Welcome to the Enlightened Club. Membership card and meeting schedule will be mailed under seperate cover.

    BTW, way-to-miss the point … perhaps Mr Chase was correct after all.

    I love Community.I really do.But I feel sorry for a show like this has so many problems with the cast.There’s no way that NBC will renew the series for a season 5.It’s a low-rated show and no Emmy darling.It’s not 30 Rock or Parks and Rec.4 seasons and done.No movie.They only have one or two episodes to shoot so they must end with a paintball episode.

    …perhaps too long.

    I didn’t miss the point, I was just being sarcastic, and, tbh, baiting you a little :p

  • Kudos

    I know I’m late to the game, but… HEADLINE EXCELLENCE!

    Seriously, it’s on a par with “HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR.”

    Chevy will be laughing all the way to the bank. He’ll be drinking champagne tomorrow while Bill and Robert are drinking Pepsi – Diet Pepsi… :-)

    @AppleStinx: >>> That’s a shocker. I thought Chevy Chase had retired a long time ago. <<<

    LOL. I think the last time Chevy was funny was in the "Christmas Vacation" movie. After that, remember the "The Chevy Chase Show," the late-night talker? During his heydey, Chase was being talked about as the next Johnny Carson. Chase's show on Fox Broadcasting, lasted what, two weeks? Hollywood glamour went to his head much too quickly and he burned out more than two decades ago.

    [wrong answer buzzer sounds]

    Sorry Ollie, that’s incorrect. Better luck next time but we do have some lovely parting gifts.

  • Ralph Hahn

    In the pic, is Chase supposed to be sitting on a toilet?

    @Fake Me Out
    Crap, has he turned 70 already? I lose track of these things…

  • tomko44

    Tad harsh :)

  • Berit

    This headline is way too funny. I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. LOL, most hilarious headline ever.

  • Holly

    This is why I love you guys :)

  • Tom

    That’s harsh, and not accurate.

    “Actor Nobody Cares About Leaves Show Virtually Nobody Watches”, on the other hand, is legally defensible!

    *Still holding out hope for a Comedy Central wrap up movie / preferred syndication goal padding in ’13.

  • Wondering

    Everyone’s saying Community will be canceled, but it isn’t it also within about 10 episodes of 88? I know Community’s ratings are really bad, but is there a chance the syndication gods will have some pull here?

  • were123

    Is the headline a desparate attempt to gain more traffic? I recognize it’s clever, but you gotta admit it’s really mean

  • Pepper

    I love Community, but oh my gosh this headline has me cackling.

  • Theo_L

    that’s harsh…..and fun headline….

  • TL

    @Wondering
    I’m pretty sure Season 4 will put it at 84, and I’m sure Comedy Central can work with 4 less episodes than usual, and it’s probably going to need to regardless because I doubt NBC will renew it unless Sony practically gives it away or pays the network to air a fifth season.
