Though there was a decrease in audience, the size of the decrease is very small and do not indicate that a large number of viewers stop watching TV because of Holiday Travel… If anything, the impact would have been in the magnitude of less than 1/10 of a point for most shows… Since most shows stayed flat, however, the excuse of Holiday travel does not wash.
@ The Old Man
Be quiet old man! Take a seat and watch CBS. LMAO!!!
hang in there dixie!!!!!!!
@Tom
Lmao! XD good one.
LOL
HOD not so looking smug now. EOMD, HOD, TBTB similar ratings- lets the games begin.
EOMD is still dead.
Yes, ABC killed Happy Endings. I know rob60990 loves to think he’s the only one with brains, but they did a great job of murdering it. HE held Mod Fam’s numbers better than Suburgatory is, and it was their second highest rated show. Airing it after DWTS is stupid, and I doubt most people who watch that show could recognize something of quality if it hit them in the face.
Wow, FOX you are so LOW.
Why people think CBS skews old is somewhat true – but they won the night.
Poor ABC – how anyone of any age can watch Dancing With The B-list Stars is beyond belief!!!
I wish that FOX was able to acquire Happy Endings. I feel it would be the perfect companion show to New Girl. Mindy Project is not cutting it. Happy Endings has more viewers than New Girl and its demo would increase if it had the right lead in. It would garner higher demo following New Girl. And then FOX should put them on Thursday Night.
8pm American Idol result
9pm New Girl
9:30pm Happy Endings
Anyways, Don’t Trust the B… should be cancelled effective immediately. Those are embrassing and unacceptable numbers for ABC. Its viewership is extremely low as well. Since it is just in the beginning of its second season, it shouldn’t be that big of a loss for ABC. The network has to go into damage control mode asap. I would see how Happy Endings would perform after a repeat of Modern Family.
pretty sad that apt 23 and new normal had lower rating at 9:30 than the 10pm shows…
love emily owens, but the show is a goner
abc didn’t kill happy endings…the show had a cushy timeslots for 2 seasons and should be able to stand on its own by now…
Here’s the thing about Happy Endings. Maybe it should be able to hold its own by now, but there’s no way it could’ve done that following a dying and old-skewing show against 2 very similar comedies. Just because it isn’t lighting up the DVR numbers doesn’t mean it’s in a good spot. Not everyone DVRs.
Surprised there isn’t more discussion on The New Normal. A 1.5 is terrible, especially with a solid lead-in. Parks is officially a stronger show than it at this point.
It will be interesting to see how Community does upon return. If it can manage even a 1.4 or 1.5 it could be grounds for renewal on NBC. But I’m getting a bad feeling it’ll fall to where 30 Rock is right now.
Happy Endings was lucky to get a second season. Remember, everybody, including Damon Wayans Jr., thought it was a goner. HE has never done well in the ratings with MF and it did no better than Apt. 23 with the same lead in. Yes, Suburgatory’s numbers are lower, but so are Modern Family’s.
And I say all this as a fan of the show. It’s not accessible. The show’s creators even made fun of that in last season’s finale. So there’s little chance of it picking up viewers. The ratings can only get worse from here.
Yeah Die FOX You Republican B*#@!
Nope EOMD still has some life,come on its fighting back. Give it some credit.
Fingers crossed for a full season that is all I ask and hope for. Better this than repeats CW.
Cult , and Carrie Diaries are floppies just waiting to happen.I hope they are smart to keep MD around after midseason, and not cancel it for the DOA floppies.
@Ted
What do you mean when you say Happy Endings is not accessible? How does it differ from the other ABC comedies?
@Tessa
It supports the theory that the CW is the canary in the coal mine, the first to feel the effects of younger people scorning live TV in favour of watching on line, due to its younger skewing audience. Some pundits were saying the big four would feel it next.
@Paul
Which would also explain why CBS’s ratings will drop last, because its older viewers are more likely to watch live than on line.
“Yes, Suburgatory’s numbers are lower, but so are Modern Family’s.”
THIS. Their fans are comparing it to when Modern Family was pulling 5.7s. Of course Happy Endings was doing better BUT it wasn’t holding MF’s lead-in any better than Suburgatory is doing right now. Look at how MF did around February and you will see that HE did exactly the same as Suburgatory is doing now.
“Airing it after DWTS is stupid, and I doubt most people who watch that show could recognize something of quality if it hit them in the face.”
Well since in your mind it had fantastic retention from Modern Family, then where is all that audience?
And another thing networks have to worry about…..Microsoft ‘Xbox TV’ device due in 2013 with casual gaming and streaming
